Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

TrackDay wheels, Been offered some Team Dynamics Pro-Race 1.3 18x8.5 5x130 ET52 (Front) 19x10 5x130 ET65 (Rear) I suspect the front will be ok offset wise, but the rear looks very wide? would have to balance it out via bigger front wheel spacers or look for a different wheel with standard offsets?
prorace-13-noir.jpg
coming in around 11kg front and 11.7kg rear.

the rear is a 911 offset ET 65 is no good. spyder wheels are et 42 rear. plus you have 18 and 19" wheel sizes listed !!! un less a typo also don't get the wide comment, that offset will bring the wheel in another 23mm over oem which will rub the shock and inner arch. :) you would have to fit rear 23mm spacers NOT front. As I have said many times, you need more front track ..... this is what Porsche has done to the 981 to help turn in.. and what they have done with every model. Not that any one takes note what I am saying these days.

Thats because the car is a conversion or abortion depending on your view point[;)] http://tunersmotorsports.com/?page_id=125

Always make me laugh when I watch that video on that link showing the roof being taken down[:D] I wonder what the top speed is with that contraption. I'd say 5mph[:D]

An early Porsche dustbin scribbled attempt would have been better than their final offering [] Video is funny though

ORIGINAL: flat6 Tracy, I saw your pleasant summary in Porsche Post - Boxster Register, about your 10 years owning Boxsters. Congratulations on getting your 981. The car looks great in white with painted roll hoops and 20" wheels[:)] After you've had it a few weeks do come on here and share what it is like living with a 981 and whether you miss the 987[:)]
Tracy has had the car a few weeks now[;)] but I think the chances of her missing the 987 should be pretty remote as the new Box is quite a leap forward in most key areas but as you say it would be good to hear from M's T especially as she was almost tempted to becoming our first Spyderwoman [:D]

Red does look OK but i'd stick with black.

I once owned a Lotus Elise 111s dark silver with red leather and red hood and it looked fantastic. I loved it and it had many admirers, it just looked that bit different from every other Elise going around at the time. Depends on car colour and interior to work though Kenny Spyder

MrD is not with you... Meanwhile on Pistonheads: http://youtu.be/JXlgfbgdoQ4
lol when you look at what cars I have owned the last 10 cars, CSL, Noble , Exige, Cayman, GT3, M3, Spyder, Cayman R the new Boxster is not really the car for me, like wise nor is a 911. It's a great car for the market it's pitched at and will sell way more cars. Porsche are in the market to sell more cars, bad news for owners as resale will drop like never before, markets flooded with all makes of Porsche these days. Before, you bought a Porsche and 3 years later you got 60% back. these days you loose 100% of any extra's which is normally 10k and then get 50% back off the base price on a good day. I am anti automatic, I find it dull, I am anti PSM even In the Spyder and Cayman R you cannot turn it fully off, which is daft as we have a LSD and on tight bends we cannot use the LSD because PSM cuts back in. But above all I am anti this electric steering [:(] The Spyder and Cayman R are amazing cars in this day and age to be this good to drive, and while people mock manual and wonder why I own a Cayman R when I already own a Spyder, it's because nothing and I mean nothing really drives any better. I do miss my 430bhp TTRS but know deep down after a go in one again or a GTR again, the speed thing is easy gotten over after a week. I doubt I will own another Porsche, the over revs, the warranty issues etc are all shocking, and now the new cars are ECU driven and more GT style, even the new Manual gear box is a PDK gear box, I would rather be in something like a Aston N420.. Now if I were to be either given the last OPC Spyder for sale or a New Boxster with sports chassis and buckets, I will then take the 981 :) that OPC Spyder just gives me the shudders with that spec.

There's talk on a few USA Porsche forums regarding fully turning off PCM, unplugging something Ect Good indicator thou when your on the limit if it kicks back in! I will dig out a link later

You can do it by just unplugging the yaw module, this still retains the ABS, but it's not too easy to get to in a normal 987 road car

I have looked into it, it also disconnects the sports mode and if you have PDK you also cannot do this at all, you lose the fast shifts and the auto blib. I quite like the throttle response in Sports mode so would not like to have that disconnected as a side effect. It's only on the very tight bends any way, it does not do it at Donnington for example, but on 2 corners at Bedford it does cut back in. Just have to drive round it. just thinking if I do hill climbs in the car next year a few of the turns are very tight, I can get the throttle 100% remapped into the car as a fix then have a yaw kill switch fitted.

So does this mean you are not getting the car to near it's limit at DP? [:D] [:D] [:D]

Why not do the PCGB speed championship and we can compare notes!!

ORIGINAL: ted walker Does anyone make an additional "shower cap" for the Spyder as you can get for the Lotus Elise ??????
Not that I could find. I wonder if this chap would be able to do one for the Spyder? http://www.shower-cap.com/html/index.php
