Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

If Andy Fagan was driving the R then the results would have been very different!!

That test makes me mad ever since it was done, One cars on r spec track tyres, ones on road tyres, pointless .

I also think that a lot of these tests are biased depending on the "testers" preferences. That guy said a few things to suggest IMO he was old school rear engined Porsche lover [:'(]

I was surprised at the results[8|] - I thought by the type of test the Cayman would edge it or at least get a score draw!

If you factor in the track tyres on the GT3 vs the road tyres on the Cayman R and watch it again, the Cayman R has done extremely well with that handicap. Possibly the R would win these types of test on equal tyres?

Thanks John - it's from earlier in the year. I should have been with Peter last night but unfortunately my wife is on a school trip to Paris (as a teacher, not a pupil!) so I thought it was a suitable new page new pic. Agree with MrD - test are pointless without matching tyres. Although I still reckon that on crap tyres Andy would still have edged it!

This one is certainly not flying out the door as quickly as some people would have expected[;)] http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/boxster-987-05-12/porsche-boxster-987-gen-ii-spyder------------------2010/1789323

There hasn't been much interest on here about it either. I think if it was a coupe it'd receive more interest as a track focussed spec. IMHO, not many buy roadsters predominantly for track. Some do, but not that many.

i suspect the recent deluges and the eye watering price may have something to do with it [:D]

you have to be keen to buy a soft top this time of year, it's just dead money buying one now imo. GT3 markets getting busy with a shed load of cars now for sale and people asking why no sales. it's just that time of year. I thought last year was a bit odd regarding Spyder sales, a one off imo. very poor advert also, needs a list of service records done and warranty etc It should had had one and is now due a BIG one !! but nothing is said about that. I would also push the performance and light weight aspect, and the real retail cost of a car in that spec and do some Porsche quotes for a car that spec :) I would list the options and the prices of them for the PCCB, PSE etc It's only been for sale a week at top money and I guess with no warranty, but a buyer for this type/spec of car will be more looking in April onwards, it's a pretty hard core car def suit a Lotus type buyer and not a hairdresser. good news is I paid less than that 2 years ago for a car with 2 years warranty :) we have 2 extreams for sale atm this car and the OPC car, both at the outter edge of the market which means less buyers. I love the spec of course, and if I were selling, I think I would offer the option of a OPC Porsche fitted Head unit, I think it's the biggest option people are scared of missing. Must be easy to get circa 2010 Porsche head unit from a right off out a normal Boxster for not much £££ what else would scare a buyer off ?, after a full history(ie the big service paid for), A warranty added and having a radio fitted ? give the car those 3 things and it's then tempting Spyder spec. All about marketing and what you would do to get a larger number of people interested in it.

Anyone seriously looking for the anorexic Spyder won't be put off by current weather conditions it isn't like another will pop up again shortly At £39k privately it would have to have service and warranty included I would think fitting the radio back, wiring loom, speakers, reprogramme ecu are all going to cost a pretty penny and 99.9% of potential owners would want it without question IMO Plenty of Lotus owners smelling the coffee and switching to Spyders so priced to sell I am sure it would find a home[8D]

The OPC car is officially gone. Got a phone call from them this morning to say it was not available anymore. So in fact this means Spyders are extinct at OPCs, at least for now

It has taken 1 year, 1 month, 2 weeks, 6237 posts, 69909 hits and 1 deleted picture of laydees to answer the question: are Spyders extinct at OPCs [:D] So, daro911 - any other questions you want to throw out there? [:D][:D][:D]

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: [:D][:D][:D]Nice one RobK[:D][:D][:D] :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I think we got down to one car twice before but they weren't quite as desirable as this one as a last one. Sorry you missed out H14 As others have done, get your name down with a few OPC's, say one in each of the franchises, or just one that is keen on sourcing Spyders such as PC Silverstone. You could find a good car that way as some aren't coming to market as they are being sold to a waiting list. Good luck!! P.S. have you seen the Shirley car yet and if so, how was that?
