Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Page 103/4 January 2014 issue of the Porsche Post we have some PR for the Spyders Hit a landmark today but if weather forecasts are right it may be a while before it goes any higher soon[:D] [;)]

I posted a similar picture on Facebook once. A lot of people took the piss about Radio 2... Congrats on the PP mention. Maybe we ought to bang our heads together to do a proper article for the Mag?

You and flat6 have enough track days and pictures to match to easily do a nice double pager [;)]. Go for it Funnily enough I usually have Absolute on the radio not that I listen to much other than the PSE [;)]

Not a bad idea. We do have some great pictures between us though the best ones are probably already on this thread. No need for excuses, once past 40 Radio 2 is ok []

and I thought I didn't use mine enough!(2400 miles now)get it to 2k and then you can really enjoy the higher end of the rev range more of the time

ORIGINAL: DarrellWilson First post on the forum so go easy on me! Just bought a spyder from a private seller. Not even driven one before but the write ups were so convincing I didnt think I needed to. I'm not disappointed, such a fantastic car. Spec is 2010; white; manual; carbon brakes, sports exhaust; short shift; no radio, air con or cup holders......just as it was intended [;)] Spent the last few years driving Caterham's on track so can't wait to get the spyder out on some familiar circuits. I assume the PCGB trackdays are the most popular ones for spyder drivers.
Welcome on board Darrell. Coming from having many track miles in Caterhams under your belt, I look forward to comments on how the Spyder drives [;)]

Thanks everyone for their welcomes and advice, there's a lot of passion around these cars which is good to see as they deserve it. I bought the car from a private seller who advertised some months ago, withdrew it from sale as he didn't want to part with it and I made contact to persuade him to do so, more relating to need than want. MrD, thanks for your advice, I clearly have lots to learn about getting the best out of the car on track. The car was first registered by Porsche GB but not sure how it spent the first few months of its life. Still only covered 8k miles and is immaculate, had the 111 check done which proved it hadn't been abused on rev range check. Plan is to make good use of the car so will certainly be on PCGB track days next yer, it's a shame not to. I heard of a 2011 car being serviced recently with just 800 miles on the clock, these cars are just too good not to be driven.......IMO!

It looks like i could be geting this one. 2010 60-reg One previous owner White with silver Spyder wheels 6300 miles Manual with sport short shift Bucket type seats, black leather with grey alcantara Extended alcantara option Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE) Sport Chrono CDR40 Sound package plus and iPod input Porsche Warranty to November 2015 Passed MOT last month with no advisories It is being sold to me from its owner Chris in Glasgow via Porsche Edinburgh. It will cost more but will come with OPC backing. Does anyone on here know this car?

Good luck with your purchase Rocket Man - keep us informed, what a Christmas Gift! My wife took me by surprise by presenting me with my Spyder on Valentines Day[;)]

Hi Rocket I don't know the car but as you say you're in Wigan, if you end up joining the Porsche Club you'll probably end up in my region or rob.kellock's so might see you around[:)] Congrats on getting a Spyder and I think your decision to take it through the OPC is logical. Some would say save the money, which has logic too, but you gotta do what you think is best when already spending the best part of £40K

Make sure you take the A702 to Edinburgh, don't stay on the motorway. We took this pic when I took my pal to OPC Edinburgh to collect his 911.

Wigan will probably put you in R5 for PCGB which is flat6's region. They meet in Wilmslow on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. You are possibly slightly closer to R18 though which is better [:D]and meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Garstang. It would be good to see another Spyder around, I have still only ever seen 3 out on the road that I hadn't already agreed to meet!

ORIGINAL: flat6 Hi Rocket I don't know the car
Looks like someone on Pistonheads does. Page 4 of the Spyder thread in the Porsche Boxster/Cayman section: KMF said: It sounds a good spec, i am just waiting for an email with pictures and a price. There is one at 911 virgin that looks good but i want one with spyder wheels and buckets. One also at OPC bristol but a lot of money and not the spec i am after. KMF, If Chris's spyder is up for sale then I would jump at it. He keeps his cars immaculate and you would not be dissapointed. Chris will let you know more info on the car but the spec is great and he is a top gent. We are both on Scotish Elise's and we both cancelled our V6 orders for Spyders. Chris - what are you buying? Not going back to the lotus fold George"

Thanks for the replys, KMF on PH is me also. I will probably go with R18. There is a friend of mine in St. Helens who also has a white Spyder, i went to look at it last weekend. Norman has a realy nice car that he bought from new

ORIGINAL: Rocket Man I will probably go with R18.
You are clearly a wise man [:D][:D][:D] See you there - flat6 comes along sometimes. Can't say I have ever seen 3 white Spyders together at the same time!

Another great post by Flat 6 number 7087! Also another record for Flat 6! This must be the longest page on this Thread!
