Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

New page new pic - Real Spyder men at play today![;)]

ORIGINAL: jdpef356 Just my opinion but I also have a 'crush' on your wheels Kenny. I'm not a fan of the painted wheel but on yours the rim and the paint enhance the black car. Best painted wheel I have seen - if it was me I would keep em![;)]
Take your point John and others who have commented, I guess I would have to see how car looked with one of each wheel on it to convince me to change. For time being I will go with comments made here and leave as is. Had the car out today for first MOT and its true that you really forget how good they are when not driven for a few weeks, even in the pouring rain up here. Kenny Spyder

ORIGINAL: daro911 My brother and I picked up this rare Ex Jenson Button Porsche today and apart from the disappointingly weak sounding bespoke PSE that can hardly be heard [] its a great piece of kit and just one of 19 UK cars of which there appears to be opnly 12 around today Ignoring the beautiful leather everything you can touch interior is she any more exciting to drive than a Spyder ... Our jury is definitely out but as a very rare exclusive Porsche she is totally unbeatable[8D]

Absolutely stunning Speedster, I would swap or sell anything for that! Kenny Spyder

There are twice as many Cayman Rs for sale on the OPC used car locator as there are Spyders. OK, so there's only 2. Quite a rare beast itself and values holding well too. Half the Cayman Rs on the OPC used car locator have bucket seats[:-] And it's the cheaper of the two[:-][:D]

Cayman "R"'s numbers have followed a similar pattern to the Spyder at OPC's however although there are 7 on Pistonheads that is a pretty low ball number too even if prices have fallen closer to Spyders today[;)]

I have seen many of the 15" type wheels that you linked to, I am really looking for see if any are available for the 987.

Yes, but I don't see why you would want to fit them though. Lol Also the offsets are not quite right so people who do fit them have sticky out wheels :-/. Cayman R will take longer to find cult status, but it' a all round better car to own than the Spyder as far as being usable , and more in the old RS ilk of cars to drive. A coupe will always be classed as the better drivers car, and the R is stiffer and has a better bias than the Spyder. The light weight aspect makes the Spyder to me , but most cars are not light weight build spec. Quite a few ex gt3 owners are buying R's now and you see quite a few R on track days now. The Spyder def more a looker and more the iconic ownership experience. Not a fan of the 911 speedster, to me it's very ugly with the roof cut off. But that's just imo :) I have tough choices to make owning both on really nice specs. As I could be in more serious machinery lumping the cost of both together. As for PDK I am still very anti, had a loan new shape Cayman for a day, PDK is so dull and even in sport manual it still changes gear on ots own. In the end you just drive auto.

Might be a couple of Cayman Rs for sale and about 5 on pistonheads but none are the best right spec for me not much colour choice either. Tried buying the white R at knights but was not even for sale when it first showed on Pistonheads on the 1st day why advertise it[] That Speedster looks awsome from Paragons?

How does it change gear in manual mode unless you bring in the kickdown with an excessively HEAVY right foot to floor boards I have just had an amazingly spirited 35 mile drive in manual sport mode and never a single hint of an auto shift, lots of lovely smooth gear shifting in both directions upshifts with full throttle and downshifts with the rev matching a treat Maybe you should invest in some lessons on how to drive the future for gearboxes otherwise how will you cope with 991 Turbo or GT3 [:D][:D] Count to 10 please so I can dive for some cover [;)][:D]

ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINS That Speedster looks awsome from Paragons?
Yes it was from Paragons and they are a first class outfit to deal with shame OPC's can't match their style of business

ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINS Rob see your old Spyder has gone [;)] Cliff Ps anyone know a good nice spec Cayman R going up for sale or trade in.
Cliff the car was 100% faultless so whoever wants a perfect low mileage example they would be hard pushed to find better and if they didn't mind the wrong alloys they have had a good result IMO[:D] Wonder if they will find our little forum now they own a cracking example[8D]
