Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

I'll be trying to do that soon. Booked on a LOTD at Croft beginning of AprilORIGINAL: MrDemon I like to keep the Lotus guys on their toes
The plate was more appropriate on the Caterham that went to make way for the Spyder! Was in 2 minds whether to put it on a Porsche, as I thought it might wind some sorts up, but so far people seem to think it's OK. It's also handy that our local area of the PCGB is Yorkshire - R7
ORIGINAL: daro911Nice pic Nice plateORIGINAL: Steve Brown New page, new pic! This one's taken at the top of the Stelvio Pass.Edited to add - just a bit late to beat daro911 with his new pic!

Just to be clear, it’s OK for your pet demon to insult contributors on other threads but you don’t seem to like it when someone bites back? Sure, why not keep it relaxed and peaceful of the Spyder thread, he's a nice guy really... If I called you a liar, compounded the insult with a sneering “lol†apology, added to the insult by persisting in attacking your integrity, what would you do? Your answer seems to be roll over, pat Mr Demon on the head and say that he's alright! Unbelievable! FBRORIGINAL: rob.kellock Whilst I am sure MrD can fight his own battles, as daro911 observes, let's keep it relaxed and peaceful on here. Instead of being offended by MrD's direct style (which can be more blunt than Saga Noren from the Malmo County Police if you are watching the excellent Scandinavian drama Bron / Broen / The Bridge on BBC4), I respect that he has strong opinions and is not afraid to voice them. These days he makes it very clear when he is simply expressing an opinion, usually backs up his position with some form of evidence, never takes the bait when he is personally insulted and, as on the other thread, apologises if he has got it wrong. He's owned a lot of interesting cars and has posted videos demonstrating how handy he is on track. In real life, he's a nice guy too. As my wife jokingly says about me - you know, despite what people say, I think he's alright.
I just keep looking at the nice pictures. I have spent the last 2 days dealing with alleged burglars, flashers, wife beaters and drug dealers. I don't need shit on here thanks. This is my r and r.
Now isn't it better when everyone plays nicely. Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone is allowed to disagree. However it is counter productive to do it in a style that is relentlessly disparaging of other people's point of view or likes or topics of discussion that they want to raise. Not everyone is immune to it. It can be entertaining when sitting on the sidelines watching and for some it may just be the way forums run i.e. you take the rough with the smooth. However, to be all inclusive, surely it is better to gauge what someone is like and engage with them reciprocally rather than getting people's backs up and then saying it's them that has a problem. I actually thought FBR's thread was quite interesting except where the statement about 987.2 steering being night and day better than 981 goes from being an opinion, to being repeated and hence becoming an insistance. Stating and re-stating what constitutes driver enjoyment goes from being an opinion to a diktat. For some it's just something you overlook, for others it rubs them up the wrong way. Not everyone is the same or is engaged by treating them the same......
Ha ha! Am tired and grumpy. Loved FBR's post with the Spyder v 981 article from American Porsche club. As you and Rob have said repeatedly on here before, best kept enjoying the cars and avoiding the politics. Apologies FBR, have a good weekend. If you have a beef with Mr D take it up with him and keep it off here!
Get over it and move on is my advice. Don't chase me around threads throwing insults. Not that I give two hoots. I gave you the reason I said whati said, I also said sorry, nothing sneering about it and no lol after it either. So don't misquote me !! to quote "so sorry about the comment as I thought it was all from Car and Track. " so it was clearly NOT aimed at you any way ! I am never going to like the steering hence owning the 2 Porsches which I own, I also said, if you like it that's great, if you want a Spyder buy one, we all make our own choices and like what we like. I do have strong views about cars and I don't like the 981's mainly due to the steering, I am not going to lie about that to make you feel good, but I also know whats not great about my cars I don't have a defence on the poor bits but I also don't care what others say about my cars either, it does not hurt my feelings or my cars, they are just bits of metal to me. People who know me get the style and realise my posts are not personal at all., which I am sorry to say is more than can be said with your posts to quote "Thanks. I don't see any evidence that Mr demon is either a gentleman or good. " So while I have already said sorry, I await yoursORIGINAL: fbrJust to be clear, it’s OK for your pet demon to insult contributors on other threads but you don’t seem to like it when someone bites back? indeed if you ladies want to bitch then please do it elsewhere[] this is a porsche forum not a handbag throwing arena LOL[]Apologies FBR, have a good weekend. If you have a beef with Mr D take it up with him and keep it off here!
So is this what it is going to be like every time someone posts a 981 topic? This is the Porsche Club and people like all different types of Porsche. It's not the RS, R and Spyder Club. As hard as it might be to believe, there will be people who like the 981 just the way it is and would like to have a constructive discussion about it. Yes the topic was about X73, which brings the discussion to the Spyder, but as you said, you didn't have anything constructive to offer the discussion and it clearly wasn't a banter discussion. The 964 RS was a great car but the owners don't keep banging on to 993 Carrera owners about the differences. I've shared my thoughts on a number of cars and whilst the Spyder is my reference point, i've never expected those cars to behave in the same way. The 987 has been replaced and some people in the Club like the newer car. I think they get it that some older Porsche have advantages. That's the beauty of Porsche, the newer cars don't render the older cars obsolete as every generation has something unique to offer. We get that. There must be a reason why some people end up in confrontation everywhere they go online and others do not. I flippantly asked about your track driving and you've received constructive comments from those who are interested. There'll be some with whom you have gained credibility in that area, from what you've talked about. There might be some out there who weren't impressed with what they saw but they have not made an unhelpful contribution. I know you wouldn't care they did, but it would de-rail the discussion for those who are interested when it instead turns into a cat fight. The Porsche Club might seem a bit stuffy compared to some other forums but everyone is different and people should have a choice.

Apologies to Mr Dyllan, I seem to have lost my handbag, and flat6 for getting in the way!
Edit It's dreadful trying to use the editing window for replies, tiny font & the damn thing keeps timing out and you drop into other folks posts! Don't take it to heart Flat6 its only a web forum Final note added in edit; Once again thanks to Flat6 for your thoughtful commentary. Judging by some of the later contributions I think that it has fallen on deaf ears. It's a real shame that some seem think that I'm both a lurker and come from the wrong geographical location. I suppose it does typify the mindset that you alluded to in your post. Reading up the posts I was mildly amused by the degree of vehemence directed towards me, but then maybe I don't suffer any stresses or strains and only visit the PCGB forums with the distinct intention of not enjoying myself. As the erudite Mr D would have it, that's Spyder love. best wishes, FBRORIGINAL: MrDemon Get over it and move on is my advice. Don't chase me around threads throwing insults. Not that I give two hoots. - I like your approach to conciliation. I gave you the reason I said whati said, I also said sorry, nothing sneering about it and no lol after it either. So don't misquote me !! to quote "so sorry about the comment as I thought it was all from Car and Track. " so it was clearly NOT aimed at you any way ! - You’re being disingenuous. I didn’t quote you I summarised the overall tenure of your reply. I am never going to like the steering hence owning the 2 Porsches which I own, I also said, if you like it that's great, if you want a Spyder buy one, we all make our own choices and like what we like. I do have strong views about cars and I don't like the 981's mainly due to the steering.. - Do I want to buy a Spyder? I thought that I had made it clear that I was more than happy with the wobbly steering on the 981. ..I am not going to lie about that to make you feel good, but I also know whats not great about my cars I don't have a defence on the poor bits but I also don't care what others say about my cars either, it does not hurt my feelings or my cars, they are just bits of metal to me. - What makes you think that I would lie about anything to make anybody feel good? I don’t recall making any claims about the sentient nature of a 981. I think that we can agree that it is an inanimate object People who know me get the style and realise my posts are not personal at all., - Is that the inverse of familiarity breeding contempt? ..which I am sorry to say is more than can be said with your posts to quote "Thanks. I don't see any evidence that Mr demon is either a gentleman or good. " - With a handle like yours, I supposed that you would have no difficulty with the concept of goodness. I did worry about a little about the gender, but on reflection maybe you might just might have “bigged†it out enough to be a gentleman . So while I have already said sorry, I await yours - That’s as close as you’re going to get. FBR
Not at all. I don't lose sleep over anything that happens on-line. Just stating my opinion like everyone else. If you read my post #8053 again you will see that it is not referring to you at all.ORIGINAL: fbr Don't take to heart Flat6 its on a web forum
likewise Frank[]ORIGINAL: flat6 You have nothing to apologise to me for Frank.

Great fun this -including the so very erudite posts from Cecil & the slightly irritated Rob-however as I only know Rob,Cecil & David( only met him once at Oulton Park,though)-plus the venerable interloper ,Andy-all great guys-can't understand the spats taking place . Must be a Scottish/English thing--so I blame it on possible total devolution.[&o]
