Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Anyone fancy driving the cutting edge of what Porsche had to offer just over 50years ago? Great offer for those who can make it along to Club office - copy from another post:- see http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=810379&mpage=1&key=&#810379 --------- As you may or not know Cornbury House is having an open day on Sunday the 2nd of March. The Robin Hood 356 will be available for a lucky few to have a drive of the car for a limited 14 mile local route. This is to give Members a taste of motoring as it used to be. We hope that Andy Prill will be in attendance to give an insight as to the work that has been carried out on the car. For those of you who have 356s and early 911s there should be a small display by Blockley Tyres for tyres suitable for your cars. Mary and I will also be in attendance and anyone who would like to be a passenger I would be only too pleased to give rides in one of our 356s. If you want a chance to drive the Clubs 356 you will need to book with Club Offic and speak to Paul Grainger, you will need to be over 21 and have full clean licence (both parts will have to be shown on the day) Hope to see you there Have fun Paul Kelley PS First come first served -------------- Then climb into your Spyder and get back to reality [;)]

It probably looks worse than it is from the outside looking in Colin. The only dispute is/was between fbr and mrdemon over in the other thread. The rest of us were just putting our tuppence worth in. http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=806907&mpage=2 There was never any conflict between myself, Rob or Andy. If you hang around in here long enough though you will observe a recurring theme, with a common denominator and that's the only point I was making. Hasn't bothered me personally but some have said it puts them off. Time for something a bit different [:)] Just looked in my bookmarks and found this which I don't recall storing and haven't yet read. So whether it's any good I cannot yet say. http://jalopnik.com/5850952/bmw-1m-vs-porsche-cayman-r-vs-audi-tt-rs-which-to-buy

Great shots. Had been looking forward to taking mine to the Lakes this weekend but the forecast was awful yesterday and the rain on the way up was bad. Today turned out lovely but was I glad we had plumped for old faithful when we encountered this:

Great pic of 2 nice cars. Porsche has a knack of producing something a little different from the stardard models that is significantly different at the same time. I like their 'specials' and the Sport Classic was another example of subtle yet significant, inside and out. You and your brother can run a mini Porsche show ofyour own. Both cars not many people get to see in the metal.

ORIGINAL: MillerIanF I attach an interesting note of an American forum. "Let me relay this short conversation I had with Dr. Wolfgang Porsche at the 2012 Porsche Parade in Salt Lake City after my 'Crystal Blue' 1970 911E Targa was selected by him & his brother Hans Peter for the coveted 'Judges' Choice' Trophy at the Parade Concours in July of this year! Dr. Porsche asked me what other Porsche I owned. I told him an 'Aqua Blue' MY2012 Spyder. He opened his eyes wide, cracked a big smiled and enthusiastically said 'Me too!'. His 'Carrara White' Spyder resides at his private 'barn' garage at his estate in Zellamsee in Austria. If it is all hyperbole, as Al Diaz claims, at least I am comforted by the fact that there are significant others that have drunk the Kool-Aid too about the 'specialness' of this rare production model!" Lets hope he doesn't have to sell it to pay his legal fees [] http://www.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/news/business-25975459 > Porsche's chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piech are being sued by seven hedge funds over its failed takeover bid for Volkswagen. They are seeking 1.8bn euros ($2.4bn; £1.5bn) in compensation. Porsche has been accused of misleading markets in the run-up to its takeover bid for VW in 2008. Porsche initially dismissed speculation it was seeking to takeover VW, but later revealed that it owned or had positions on almost 74% of VW shares. Some investors had bet against Volkswagen shares, expecting them to fall in the absence on any firm takeover bid from Porsche. However, Porsche's disclosure of an increased holding triggered an unprecedented stock market squeeze on VW shares as investors rushed to buy them to cover their short positions. Porsche, which has earlier faced similar cases, has denied any wrongdoing. "Porsche SE and its supervisory board members will defend themselves with all available legal means," the carmaker said. Dramatic takeover Porsche's attempt to take over Volkswagen eventually failed as it fell short of acquiring the required 75% stake. The global financial crisis and the slump in the automotive sector made it difficult for the carmaker to raise enough money to buy the remaining stake. Nevertheless, it accumulated large amounts of debt in the process and was sued by investors who accused it of misleading them. In a dramatic turnaround of events, the firms agreed a deal in 2009 under which Volkswagen agreed to take over Porsche. Volkswagen acquired a 49.9% stake in Porsche in 2009. In 2012, the firms agreed another deal, under which Volkswagen bought the remaining 50.1% stake in Porsche for 4.46bn euros plus one VW common share.

OK, so that didn't work. Any suggestions?
The URL (web address) you're using is not for the image but for web page within which the image is being displayed. The image, typically a jpeg type file will be on a web address of the type http://www.blahblah.com/blah-di-blah.jpg If you right click on the image in flickr you get some choices to view the pic at different sizes. Choose one. Then in the next page showing the image at that size, right click on the image again. You'll get some choices that may include 'displaying the image in a new tab' (which will show the image's web address), or to 'copy image URL (which is the image's web address) or 'properties' which should bring up the image URL. Or you may not, depending on your browser i.e. whether you are using Google Chrome or internet explorer etc. It is a bit of a faff but once you get it sussed you'll be OK. Some of the other picture sharing sites may be easier but i've not used those.
