The effect you've put on that photo does make it look 'classic'. I can see you keeping yours ad infinitum, especially if there is no 981 Spyder[]ORIGINAL: daro911 I think you are right we could run a Porsche show of modern rare classics[]
Thanks, I'll have another go soon.ORIGINAL: flat6The URL (web address) you're using is not for the image but for web page within which the image is being displayed. The image, typically a jpeg type file will be on a web address of the type [link=http://www.blahblah.com/blah-di-blah.jpg]http://www.blahblah.com/blah-di-blah.jpg[/link] If you right click on the image in flickr you get some choices to view the pic at different sizes. Choose one. Then in the next page showing the image at that size, right click on the image again. You'll get some choices that may include 'displaying the image in a new tab' (which will show the image's web address), or to 'copy image URL (which is the image's web address) or 'properties' which should bring up the image URL. Or you may not, depending on your browser i.e. whether you are using Google Chrome or internet explorer etc. It is a bit of a faff but once you get it sussed you'll be OK. Some of the other picture sharing sites may be easier but i've not used those.ORIGINAL: DarrellWilsonOK, so that didn't work. Any suggestions?ORIGINAL: DarrellWilson First attempt at uploading an image of my car, hope it works.
I think you have read my game plan []ORIGINAL: flat6 I can see you keeping yours ad infinitum, especially if there is no 981 Spyder[]

This is very interesting and very sad, in effect the board of porsche were gambling and "lost the shirt of their back". It is a complicated business and I can only draw my conclusions from what has been said in the press, which may be right or wrong. Unfortunately I wonder if the ordinary board members fully understood what Wendelin Wiedeking was up to. It would be interesting to know if Dr Wolfgang Porsche and others actually fully understood the implications of what they were doing, did greed prevail. Did they fully understand how the options worked and just how exposed they would be if the market went the wrong way? Did they understand they may not have been transparent with information regarding the options? - The Hedge Fund managers may well have some success, Wiedeking is already in trouble with the authorities, I think. In any event Porsche are now owned by a car group that believes in using the same engines, chassis and bits and pieces in each of it's companies products, it makes me wonder about the future.

From Autocar today [&o] http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/quick-news-merc-f1-car-good-looking-synthetic-audi-fuels A group of American hedge funds are attempting to sue Porsche for £1.5 billion in damages following the company's attempted buyout of Volkswagen. It is claimed that Porsche manipulated the stock market and that it lied about its intentions to buy VW, causing the funds' significant losses as they made trades on VW shares. The lawsuit originally began in 2010, with the damages set at a lower £620 million. Porsche has said that the claims are "unfounded".

Yes you could be right not only because of this but also because it seems we are at a point where cars in general are changing. Companies are increasingly looking to electronics to advance fuel economy, road safety through all sorts of electronics including road holding PDK etc. I don't doubt this will make cars more efficient you only have to look at what happened in F1 they banned the computerised suspension, when it first appeared, because no one could keep up with the most advanced car, Williams I think at the time. Many of us look back at the old cars with fondness, the 356 is an example, we want to be fully involved with the car this seems to me why the Spyder will always be of interest. May be I am getting old but even the stop start technology, in the latest generation of cars, interferes with my driving experience, particularly as I live in the country.

I see another one has just gone up for sale on Pistonheads - should we have a sweepstake on how long it takes to sell [] On a seperate note, is anyone else going to the Donington Historic on Sunday 4th May (as arranged / discussed on the Region 8 forum)?
