ORIGINAL: jdpef356 Went to PC Cambridge yesterday - Lets hope its a great weekend for Porsche at Le Mans. Our Porsche Centre Cambridge will be open today 10am - 9pm and Sunday 9am - 4pm For a specially themed Le Mans weekend. For members who have pre booked the centre will be offering refreshments guided tours of the Centre and some pro drives. Forgot to mention the race, no doubt live on a large screen. Who knows the refreshments could turn to Champagne on Sunday afternoon. I took a look at the Spyder they have for sale. Compared to the rest of the market this look excellent value at just under £40K and has all the right bit (for me) Of the current offerings I think this will be first to go!
No longer on the used car locator [;)] Back down to just a choice of 2 Mayfair & Cardiff

ORIGINAL: jdpef356 Cliff listening to you in France and from the above comments I think your done with the GT3!
Yep my Mk 2 GT3 just did not handle despite a £500 wheel alignment ,weight ,height everything. I never felt connected with it .It was driving me not the other way round. The R really is a car to behold. i have had around 12 Porsches and it is one of the best handling for roads. Its firm but never harsh coming from GT3s Plenty fast enough for the roads of today. Yes another 20 bhp would be fab and that would make it an unbeatable road car for the value for money. Yes not the violent power delivery of a GT3 but just a nicer car to drive as i have said did 700 miles in Laon and 460 in Belgium 4 weeks before. Its just a car you never tire of driving. If being critical the brakes are not as good as a GT3 . Something i may look at in the future or just learn to adjust to them. Got plenty of attention in Laon so happy days. Only other car that i enjoyed was my Mk 1 GT3 but still not as comfortable to drive. Cliff.

ORIGINAL: spyderwhite fitting my roof back on today i undone the velcro around the offside rear clip(the one that clips to the rear deck) and it has a piece of cloth with part no. and build date of the part mine being 14.06.11.did porsche make the roofs as the cars were built or were they made in small batches as my car had a uk delivery date of circa 05/07/11 on the copy of the dealers coms. sheet i have.either way it gives a rough idea of the age of the car if not bought as per a new order
Did Porsche make the roof or buy it in And car factories all work on a J.I.T. system so roof wouldn't need to be made and ready until shortly before production line will be requiring it New Page New Pic

On some of the original Blurb from Porsche they stated that the roof/suncap system on the Spyder was not exactly water tight[&:] The above post prompted me to think was there a mark 1 and 2 roof/suncap. Heres a question for everyone but Daro[;)] Is your roof/suncap watertight?

Passenger side used to let the odd drip in above 85mph in heavy rain. Drivers side always water tight and when stationary there was never a problem.

I reckon I sold that for them![;)] One man was taking a close look and he did not know what it was[&:] Neither did the salesman come to that! I told him I owned one and he came over latter and asked loads of questions. My parting words to him. Don't drive one unless you really want to part with your current wheels, whatever they are. You will be smitten by the drive and if you dont buy this one you will buy a Spyder, one day! I guess he must have driven it[:)] Driven, Smitten and Bitten![;)]

Let's hope he finds his way to forum so you can anoint him accordingly with his Spyderman badge of welcome[:D] Hope Cambridge acknowledge your efforts with more than a cup of coffee and biscuit:ROFLMAO:

Was at PC Cambridge all weekend eating and drinking watching 24 LM! I also handed out a few PCGB Membership packs! So all in all a full weekends work![;)]

well with all the GT cars hitting 100k there has to be a growing market for a limited ed drivers car like the Spyder. prices will only be going up from now on. Cayman R back at 50k at the OPC now for one of them !!!

Well it would be nice to think that prices are heading North, or should I say are heading North![8|] None the less Spydermen would no doubt tell you the real investment is in the pride of ownership and driving one of Porsche's finest![:)]

And 80's 911 Carrera with low miles have shot up from nowhere a few years ago to between £40-50k! There is an exceptionally low mileage 12k example up at £59k today
