There have definitely been 2 versions of the rear section of roof. I got my (May 2010) car in Feb 11. The rear section was replaced under warranty soon after (as the "fins" on the bottom that go into the slots by the door windows / top of rear wing had begun to crack). The replacement part now has "cups" where the top of the solid sides clip onto the suncap support bar (does this make sense?). I'd say that, since this change, the seals between the suncap and side windows sit slightly further away from the glass at the rear edge, so things are a bit noisier at speed, and the odd drip of water comes in there in heavy rain whilst driving (the water moves along the top of the side window rearwards, and a drop finds its way in at the rearward edge), but there are no problems at all when static. Steve
ORIGINAL: jdpef356 On some of the original Blurb from Porsche they stated that the roof/suncap system on the Spyder was not exactly water tight[&:] The above post prompted me to think was there a mark 1 and 2 roof/suncap. Heres a question for everyone but Daro[;)] Is your roof/suncap watertight?

We had two days of very hard rain whilst in France - the suncap/roof proved to be very effective and not a drop got in! Did anyone else have problems as Steve did above?

My Porsche warranty expires in 2015. I was just wondering what problems the Porsche Centres have fixed under warranty for Spydermen?

Spyder, seezed exhaust tail trim bracket. they all do that, had new rear window clips fitted. Cayman R now on 17k miles nothing done. neither car under warranty.

Can anyone who purchased Spyder from new help this guy buying a GTS - go to:- http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=835285&mpage=1&key=&#835285

Another article about the Spyder in this month's Evo app. They are calling it a future classic, articles like this can only be good news. I'll see if I can cut and paste later but I'm currently lying by the pool in the Italian lakes looking up at the mountains and wishing I had the spyder with me!

They must be reading these pages to reach that conclusion [:D][:D] Hope they don't just mean the manual bucket seated versions [&o][;)]

every review does always seem to state how great the car is, with no AC, no Radio, bucket seats etc :)_ you don't see any reviews of fat cars with PDK lol

New front offside radiator - there was only a faulty sensor as it came on at full speed when you started it up from cold but they fitted a whole new unit. A couple of press studs for the rear window. Metal bar that holds the rear of the roof in place was powder coated as the original paint had worn through on the outside edge of the corners where it touches the roof (it was worse than it was beforehand after a few months). New instrument binnacle (£££) because of a bizarre fault with the fuel gauge after I had cruise control retro fitted. New filler neck to the fuel tank too. Ultimately all for nothing as the problem was trying to calibrate the fuel gauge for a Spyder tank when in fact mine had the long range tank fitted which never made it on to the original build sheet. This took 6 visits to fix in 2012. Nothing since, so it was right as rain for Phil to borrow for a while [;)]

think it's about time for some proper sports cars the extra tweeks they did to the Cayman R coming later then the Spyder just make it one of the best cars Porsche has ever made. Porsche were lazy on the Spyder just giving it a bogo S map and no new exhaust system or ARB's I have already converted my Spyder map to a R map, will be changing the exhaust to a wider dia unit like the R and think I might try the R rear ARB as the R is just that little bit tighter at the back. Seems the same with the GTS cars, the Cayman GTS spent 4 weeks longer with the handling team over the Boxster GTS to make sure it was a sweeter driveand had a better ecu map. which just means the R and the Cayman GTS are the better finished and more thought out driving machines over the Boxster models.
