Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Good call Mr D - and cant argue that - when I read 'as new' I always think same as you - prob is... it is as new... lol !!! Will rethink the 'as new' wording, and add service dates - good idea!

I have ordered some colour for my spyder, i am having made a full set of Martin decals made as on the 918. Not to everyones taste but i just love the style. Well some nutter has to do it
ORIGINAL: jdpef356 How bland does that look? I cant understand why Porsche did not introduce a splash of colour when they knew the Spyder was limited/minimum production numbers. Just take a look at what they gave the 964RS guys to choose from. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=964+rs+colours&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=eLTMU7faMsG57Abip4HQCQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1351&bih=738 What colour would you have chosen for your Spyder ?

I'd love to have the same done to mine. How will if fit around the Porsche script on the doors? Always thought that could be the bit that may look awkward.

Unfortunatly the Porsche scrypt will have to go. I will have another set made so it can always go back if required. They are only stickers. I have made the template to taper from front to back, up next to door edge, up the rear flank as 918 then back to the back to blend into the shape of the rear lights. Then there is the bonnet stripe with ball and bar Martini logo then the doors with the ball and bar Martini logo and the no. 20 to commerate the 1976 lemans win with Ickx and Lennep

Should look great on white, Numbers on the doors will not be legal though, strange law. I might be telling pork pies now, but I had to take some numbers off my bike once. Seem's all is not black and white regarding numbers on cars. Think I would leave the numbers off any way for a road car which is not racing.

It's only the MSA that don't allow comp race cars to display numbers on the road. I don't think it's illegal otherwise or there are hundreds of illegal mini coopers [;)]

Not sure. Quote from another forum It's not illegal, it appears to be an MSA thing - they don't like motor sports being associated with any kind of poor road use and ask their comeptitors to tape up numbers - a use for when they travel between stages etc during a race. It's considered poor form if you don't...but as far as the police are concerned it doesn't appear to be illegal to have racing numbers on the car. Interesting link: http://www.ten-tenth...t=121271&page=2 In that link some one wrote to the police and were told: Thank you for your email, which has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. I forwarded your question to our Road Policing department, which has confirmed that door numbers are not illegal. Window numbers would only be illegal if the driver's forward or side vision was impaired. I trust this will be of some assistance to you. If you have any questions about the above or I can help in any other way, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me again. Kind regards, Gabriella Trybalska Force Information Unit Lothian and Borders Police Looks like it really isn't illegal but the MSA really don't like it.

I can't think of any reason why it would be illegal - and the MSA aren't in charge! I'd do it, I think it would look great (I've had door numbers on a previous car and didn't have any problems).

Hurry up - want to see it !!!!!

And what about the number of Beetles - Herbie! Number 53 - perhaps Rob could tell us is number 53 immune from the law?

I am just waiting for the company to make them for me. I just hope they as i want them as i am quite fussy. The company advertise on ebay so when finished i asume they will make the sets available to anyone who wants them. They have quoted £250 to me for the set and i would bet that will be a lot cheeper that the ones being made available by the OPC network for the 911s

It's an MSA thing, not Road Traffic Act - you can put whatever numbers wherever you like so long as the car is road legal - ie clear windscreen, number plates not obscured etc. If however you are a competitor in an MSA event, they will generally have a requirement that you don't display your competition number on the public highway whilst not competing.

I have just been sent the drawings of the graphics for these, sent the money and just got to wait for them to turn up. I have to work out how to get the side grills off. I read how to do it on another forum but cant get them off without pulling to much and perhaps damaging something. Has anyone had theirs off?

Tricky buggers to get off, I took mine off to get free flow to my vflow . Ie remove the solid plate and fit a mesh grill. But cannot say how, as it,s a lot of pulling and levering , good point is nothing should snap in this warm weather.

ORIGINAL: MrDemon You think that, but the Spyder one fits nothing like that....
I see what you mean[&o]

ORIGINAL: Rocket Man So were are the securing clips on the Spyder vents?
Email Siy who has the Weiss Gold side vents and he may know the answer or the person who actually removed them from his car will do[;)]
