Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Yeah - got one of those (1:43) ones. But apparently size matters! Having said that, their website is not very user friendly, and I've given up today on trying to order one.
 
I have every 1/18 Ferrari coupe model, inc some BBR ones, no more room for any others in 1/18th I got a bit obsessed as some are very rare. but the BBR la Ferrari and Kysho F40 are great models here are just the "super cars" out of the >45 odd (all RED) models !!!!! it's now a crazy collection... just the Super cars in the pic are £1.3k worth.. why do collections get out of hand !

If you are looking to buy a GTS models Spyder, consider at 1500 examples they are making quite a few! Last year they made a version of my car in the same colour and Lhd,,,, it seemed like a good idea, but I wasn't that fussed, it is still boxed in a cupboard somewhere in the house? A couple of months after the model was issued Ebay UK was literally inundated with them for sale. There were at one point, perhaps 50/911 examples available. I bought an unused boxed example for 55% of the new price, I think the most fun is had in spotting the things they didn't get quite right in their reproduction! [8D]

The car will be designed with a higher propensity to understeer at the limit when fast cornering. This is partly because understeer is easier to catch and correct by the average driver. The front end starts to wash wide and if you lift off or light brake you have a chance of regaining bite at the front tyres and can turn in again. It's progressive and you have more time to react. Oversteer when the back end steps out can be very quick and if you then brake and throw more weight over the front, the back end has even less traction and is even more likely to continue going round. If you lift off you might get lift-off oversteer, again by losing traction at the rear, but a mid-engined car is pretty well balanced. So Porsche will design for understeer which is more stable. Yes you can induce oversteer in low speed cornering by stamping on the throttle on a low friction surface or adding some lock to induce it even more if you can't break the grip. But that is not what you would do if trying to drive fast on tarmac (speak to a rally driver about why induced oversteer and drifting is of benefit in that scenario which is very different). Whenever i've overcooked a corner in your car it's always been a slight bit of understeer as I am trying to enter or exit the corner as fast as possible. The back end is very planted and confidence inspiring. The last thing I would be doing to exit a corner as fast as possible is applying an armful of lock and stabbing the throttle. But that is how you overcome the design to do fun type test drives like on Top Gear, which is actually low speed cornering as you're going much slower than you could be when you've got the car going sideways. Someone like Andy Fagan may be able to suggest a scenario where it goes into oversteer as he has the car going flat out on competitive sprints.
 
I must admit, if I could find a Tamiya 288GTO at a reasonable price, then I'd be on it.

Just spent a couple of hours driving F-type coupes around Millbrook, courtesy of Jag and Evo magazine. The R sounds absolutely mental in dynamic mode, almost worth the price for the noise alone - on the way out I followed a Ferrari F12 and C63 AMG giving it some beans down the mile straight and neither sounded as good! Also did 140 around the banked bowl in a torrential downpour and hit 170 on the mile straight which was great fun! The F also looks fantastic, particularly in white and black, so might it replace the Spyder? The answer was confirmed when I was interviewed by Nick Trott who asked what I thought of the F and how it compared to my current car - when he asked what I drove, he said he loves the Spyder and had thought about buying one; any thoughts of the Jag were quickly forgotten by both of us! [:D]
 
The F type coupe could have been so good, but with no space to fit any bags and that over fat weight the cars still for retired people who think they are 45 not 65 :) Jag just cannot break into the younger market. Aston must be pleased and with Merc engines coming who would ever buy a Jag over a Aston ? Shame as the f type had so much pre hype about light weight.
