I know there's a whole load of mis-information around but just to add to it, in my conversation with a OPC they were quoting a 3.8ltr/400bhp engine for the Spyder. If they retain a distinctive look for the new Spyder, with that engine/power it could be one hell of a car.ORIGINAL: MrDemon the Spyder will only hold my interest if it has a working roof and the 3.8 engine ie an every day car one can really use with a load more BHp

My OPC showed me the info from PCGB - Spyder to be announced in April, available June/July. I suppose it could change...ORIGINAL: daro911 I was told info will be known late summer well after GT4 is out and about [&o] [/color]
I was advised of that today too[&o] Waiting to see what my LOI OPC has to say when he is back at work next Tuesday Assuming that April date is correct strange their hasn't been a single Spy / Test Mule shot so far! Very exciting if it is a Spyder with humps in all the right places otherwise a big let down if its just a 3.8L standard body GTS topper[&o]ORIGINAL: homerdogMy OPC showed me the info from PCGB - Spyder to be announced in April, available June/July. While some may not like the wheels it makes the red one at OPC Swindon look great value. With OPC preparation and warranty this must be the best value Spyder in a while.ORIGINAL: spyderwhite18k miles and £44k. Agree with the above. On mileage and the stunning colour alone, the 19k miler in red is great vfm if you can get over the wheels and seats. The wheels do look way better in real life but as a newcomer to the spyder concept, I think a lot of new entrants want the buckets and the overall lightness to enjoy the car as porsche presented it. The 911v one sounds great but is Bluetooth of any use in a car like this? You can just about speak with your passenger with the roof up so god knows how anyone you phone will hear you! Really enjoying mine even though I've only had it out a couple of times. The short shift is amazing and feels really solid and taught in your hands. Changing up through the gears is such a pleasure when you drive an auto daily. Got a chance to test the brakes today and they are pretty amazing. You can modulate them so well on the road choosing how much you wish to decelerate from silly numbers. Normally with most cars you press when you know you wouldn't dare brake any later. With this you have options. Been reading up on how to drive mid engine as I notice that this thing keeps you on your toes on poorly surfaced roads. Haven't been using the sports button at all yet as in these temps tyres don't warm up that well. Pse is switched on most of the time and with the roof of is truly mega. Overall it does feel like a pretty hardcore car, but looking forward to taming the beast!

What you have to remember is the spyder wheels are part of the car and at £2k each the red one is not vfm I have phone module in my car and it works fine
Maintaining all the Spyder quirks ie Suncap, Buckets, Door Strap Pulls, bespoke alloys, lower & firmer ride, would fit the historical Porsche formula for a limited production run model so I have faith or is it wishful thinking[] that will be the way to go with the 981 Spyder Bespoke bodywork, 3.8L detuned GT4 engine and BIG price tag to match exclusivity and pay for the extra tooling costsORIGINAL: DarrellWilson I know there's a whole load of mis-information around but just to add to it, in my conversation with a OPC they were quoting a 3.8ltr/400bhp engine for the Spyder. Hi Jonathan You will see more salt on you Chips than on the roads down there Just as well it is not this weekend you where coming to pick the car up[]ORIGINAL: jayxx83 there isn't any salt down here in london!
Hope you were in the 356 and not the 987 []ORIGINAL: jdpef356 I've just got back from the NEC and the M6 south bound was being salted like we were going to have three foot of snow!

I really like the silver, car looks superb. The Spyder has one of the best 6 speed gearboxes in any car even the normal shift is great. The ride should be okay on bumpy roads, in reviews drivers remarked how well it coped on poor surfaces for a lowered car on tight suspension. If it sits for even a week you can start to get flat sections on the tyres which take a little while to work out. I leave the car in neutral with no handbrake on, in the garage, which means you can grip the wheel spokes and pull it forwards or backwards periodically. One of the big pluses for me when I first got my Spyder was the quality of the ride and this is one of the features that make it a great car. A focused car like this has really no right to be as smooth on the road as it is. As far as I can tell, unlike a standard Boxster, the Spyder is as noisy with the hood up as it is with it down so might as well stay topless.ORIGINAL: jayxx83 Agree with the above.
