Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Talking of nice but very EXPENSIVE options this one was $2k (steering wheel) so would hate to think what the UK price would be with our 20% VAT to factor in too []

ORIGINAL: kitchens Stop teasing me with all those lovely shots of your cars .....sadly as some on here know i will not be joining you yet . Can confirm that the 2 cars that where available have deposits taken one within 24 hrs of being seen and turned down by myself .Also heard that a deposit was taken on the OPC Silver one .So that will be another 2 White PDK under new ownership soon .Been waxing my Boxster today and to be honest glad in a way i still have it as it looks amazing in Speed Yellow. Can confirm after driving the Spyder it is amazing had reservations about the noise from the hood but perfectly acceptable even at *** and the bucket seats are also comfortable and easy to get in and out off by just pushing the seat all the way back. Will still follow the Spydermen thread
Have you seen we have fresh meat to eat today and it's a PDK low miles minter [;)] 19-inch Boxster Spyder Wheel Cruise control Floor mats Fully automatic climate control ParkAssist (rear) Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including navigation module Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) Roll-over bar in exterior colour Sound Package Plus including CD storage Sport Chrono Package Plus SportDesign steering wheel Sports exhaust system Sports seats Telephone module for PCM Universal audio interface Wheel centre set

ORIGINAL: flat6 it's a real bargain for buckets to be standard on the Spyder.
I know they are an expensive option on other models, but I'm not sure why really because (and this may be controversial) I'm not at all sure that they have any carbon fibre (or leather) in them. My interpretation of Porsche's description is that they are made of plastic and finished with a layer of carbon fibre, which may or may not be real. I admit that they still look great though!
Hi Homerdog. I don't know what Porsche's description is but maybe it uses ambiguous terminology? Carbon fibre reinforced plastic is a composite material composed of carbon fibre and a polymer (plastic). It's the same stuff used on F1 cars and the front section of your Spyder roof but the name is often shortened to carbon fibre. Carbon fibre is an expensive material but there's no reason to doubt your suggestion that profit margins are high when you look at what they charge for having your instrument dials in a different, but preset colour[&:] What I find a little disappointing is when a car doesn't come with it's optimal configuration. Take the 991. The powerkit came out relatively soon after launch. So, I don't see that as a development, I see that as the optimal engine configuration and then they turn the wick down and charge extra for the powerkit as an upgrade. However, the upgrade comes at considerable cost and so most Carrera S's leave the factory in what I consider sub-optimal engine configuration (Note I didn't say sub-standard. That's NOT what I mean). Doesn't happen on the GT3 or turbo. There's only one engine configuration. Then there's the GT3 RS and and turbo S respectively, which are models in their own right, with one engine configuration. Maybe others don't see it like that but I see PSE the same way. I think it's expensive to pay to unmute a sports car. I think it should be standard to have the 'loud' setting because to mute mute the car is sub-optimal. Those who want the ability to mute their car should be the ones who pay for a switchable system. Then they can switch to the sub-optimal sound as and when they wish. I guess the majority who opt for PSE have it more often on loud and would rather daro's setup of a permanently optimal sound. If you don't then you should pay for the dual path switchable mufflers. If there is some legislation on sound pollution that encourages them to do it the other way around, surely Ferrari's are louder? I think it's disappointing for Porsche to charge for unmuting the sound coming out of a sports car.

It won't be around long with that spec and mileage. Good to see them start with a >£40K price. The side stripe extension at the rear doesn't fit the rear contours and it's shape is not rearward oriented.

What the hell are they doing advertising it with those stupid stripe extensions? If I was the Dealer Principal I would be holding a disciplinary on Monday morning. Completely amateurish. Filthy wheel arches in the photos evidence v lazy prep too. Good luck to them! Hope it sells quick at that price, will make my unmolested example worth more than I paid for it.

I hear you rob. Standards are slipping. Buying an OPC car should be about more than just the 2 year warranty. Cars should be returned to standard and it makes you wonder what else they don't bother to restore and/or accept on a used car. Those with a keen eye will have to be pointing things out to them which isn't right.
