Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Morning Mr Demon For clarification the car has never been advertised before as my own car in fact this particular car has never been advertised anywhere, period. I have personally owned other Spyders before this one but never a white one. There is nothing odd, as you suggest, going on at all. Cheers Tom 911V

How are buckets a killer missing item? Half the buyers don't want them. Prat.
Say 50% of the cars had buckets 50% had sports seats but only 1 had heated sports seats with factory Exclusive option too [:D] Must make this the first genuine £50k example by todays prices

cheers just odd to me you keep buying Spyders in your own name and selling them on in your own name, the only reason I can see for this is to keep the Porsche warranty on it as you can drive any car 911V owns anyway if you so wish. not an issue , but a wise business model if a car has a OPC warranty on it. As stated on the add "Tom is selling the car himself and as such the balance of the extended Porsche warranty which runs through until 08/08/2015 is fully transferable to the next owner. " This of course is not allowed if the car is owned by 911V.

981 electric roof !!!! any one taking bets with me yet ? remember I did say it was electric 8 months + ago and every one else says manual still :) It looks like it will have manual aspects to it maybe unclipping various tails/clips or some thing , but then ELECTRIC fold up :) that's my take on it, 6 days to see , I guess.

My money is still on a full manual roof. I don't see where any significant weight saving will come from if there are still electric motors and associated "gubbins". Also where would be the advantage if you still had to get out of the car to clip/unclip various catches/locks. Also, given the predicted limited production, it doesn't look as if Porsche is looking to incease sales over the original so a roof along principles of original would meet the requirements of most potential purchasers. If one wants electric convenience then I would say a Spyder is not for you - and why spoil it for us others who prefer the lightness. As you say, not long to wait. Looks like launch at New York show next week.

prefer the lightness
90% people did not buy the 987.2 for a light drivers car, 50% added 25Kg PDK another 50% add chairs and took out the buckets. Most added back in the AC and radio How many will opt out of AC in the new one ? I doubt any one ! the biggest non selling point was the roof, the 987.2 was not limited run but they could not sell many ! so they have ltd the 981 Spyder to even less cars, you could say manual only has killed off 50% of ex spyder onwers as many want PDK now days. look at miles, on most cars circa 3k PA some much less even, pure toys :) Cars sold out any way with no advertising , sus is softer than GT4 and it has a part electric roof, if it's noiseless at 80 mph like a normal 981 I wish I would have put my name down. if it's a toy one wants for a fun/2nd car you cannot beat a 987.2 car imo, at the end of the day they are making 50% more manual Spyder than manual 987.2 Spyder sold so was a risk even with only 150 UK cars.

997 Speedster has a folding manual roof so my money says it could be a 2 piece manually folding main section lift off scarf section , unlined lightweight roof system as I am sure a key aspect to a Spyder over a regular Boxster has to be weight saving, sports chassis lighter set up than PASM and humps If it has an electric roof that would open up demand way beyond the planned 150 units having a semi manually folding roof especially if in 2 sections would put off 9/10 would be 981 owners [:D]

ORIGINAL: MrDemon No buckets and no PCM so neither a racer or a tourer, so don't see it as high spec myself or low miles when low miles in Spyder circles is ultra low miles, as most do circa 2 to 3 k a year it seems. Buckets are a killer missing item though at £7k to buy/add to even bring it back to oem standard spec.

Well the Spyder was manual, not surprising it sold quickly! [8D] So 6 days to go, who's actually jumping ship to the new, shiny model!?

ORIGINAL: philnotts99 So 4 days to go, who's actually jumping ship to the new, shiny model!?
6 days actually [:D] Nothing to jump to this year as delivery won't happen until winter 2015 or possibly springtime 2016[8D]

Criteria for me is 3.8 manual X73 and not PASM,buckets gt4 alloys and weight circa 1300kg,gt3 steering and 991s brakes! But also just important what it looks like! Still hanging out for GT4 but the SPYDER is the reserve car so name down etc The SPYDER may even be the more sort after for road use and occasional track use.

all manual cars sell, big market for them and they never come for sale esp a white manual.

But I am sure 911V have sold many PDK cars without any problems perhaps Tom might pop by and confirm or deny this statement [:D]

Glad I purchase when I did. Paid £41500 from an opc with only 11400 on the clock. Major service was done, front bumper repainted and 6 mths tax! Only weight adding option was the radio ;-)
