True true. As you say, whilst the 987 is now loved, very few people actual put their hand in their pocket to buy a brand new one, because of the roof and many were sold off as second hand demo vehicles with healthy discount. Then they became a cult favourite on the used market. Porsche has responded to that with the new design. I can't see them having any problem shifting them with new car buyers this time, and for Porsche, that's what it's all about.

Thanks flat6 - Yes I think this time they have cracked it solving the roof deal breaker and sealed the deal with fitting the 3.8L engine into a sport chassis as opposed to a PASM chassis [] New Page New SpyderORIGINAL: flat6Congrats x 2!!!!!!!![]ORIGINAL: daro911Snap[]ORIGINAL: Andrew Killington Bitten the bullett and placed an order

I've gone for the classic interior and GT silver but will wait until I visit dealer to see Garnet Red leather in the flesh before final decision
My favourite visual bit of the car an a big factor in buying mine. The new one just doesn't seem to have the same appeal. I do like it, and I do think it will be a great car - just not one I'd want.ORIGINAL: Rocket Man i still think the 987/2 Spyder looks at is best with the top on, windows down and rear section removed, a pure piece of art. that hood style is so distintive i think it is a shame to hide it away, shame you can not do that with the new one.

It looses some of the effect of the long hood and rear deck.
I would have liked to have seen the side stripe but I guess Porsche are no longer striping any of their cars any so can live without it but the profile of a 987 with & without the stripe was quite different and I think it shows on the 981 too[&o] I have a feeling that the improved interior architecture, fit, finish, new design buckets and extra space along with the 3.8L 375 bhp a folding roof will more than make up for the difference in which looks best in the flesh[8D]

Could you add the Stripe as an exclusive?

There might be a design reason for it. Could it be to create a more complete silhouette of the roofline as it blends with the hood sections. Or could it be to make that area resistant to scratches when the buttresses are hanging around before they are attached. Or could it be to charge £500 under Porsche Exclusive to get them painted []ORIGINAL: tyinsky I also think they have missed a trick by having that large part of the upper rear quarter deck not the same colour as the car. Maybe they will offer a 'Spyder' badge for the door, as per the current trend. Like this but just saying 'Spyder'ORIGINAL: Andrew Killington Could you add the Stripe as an exclusive?
