Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

It's never seen rain... Erm [cough]

Although to be fair, we did stumble across this by accident at Malham, it was sunny at home when we set off. [:D]

Seems to be a few coming up for sale now. Are we about to see them drop back down to low/mid thirties? Considering selling mine and moving back towards air cooled. Probably rose tinted.

Its that time of year and if you are looking to sell 911V are strong buyers and sell lots of air cooled too [8D]

when you say a few for sale ! there are 5 cars for sale, only one of which is Manual with buckets and that's black and £50k. So no they are going up and should reach £55k imo.

Assuming all other things on a car are equal the manual is undoubtedly a quicker seller. Those customers who I've sold too who have bought a Spyder to add to a collection of cars with a focus on investment have all bought manuals.
I do hope that shuts a few people up ;-)
The collectors that I deal with ( there are a group of them ) represent probably less than 0.1% of our overall business. They buy cars as objects with little intention of driving them, some never even lay eyes on the car. Don't get too carried away Mr Demon, believe it or not there are still people out there who want to enjoy these cars as the manufacturer intended. They buy them to use them. I think some Spyders are now worth £50,000. Daro owns one, and guess what, its a PDK! There's a market for all good Spyders irrespective of options, colours, transmission types...they all find a home. We've never failed to not sell one. There is more to a car than the things you seem to hold so dear. Try to accept that everything isn't as black and white as you convince yourself it is. Tom
I think between 911V and Mr D (not to mention the new 981 costing between 66-70K ) £55k this summer might just happen although I think it would be a brave buyer this early into the cars future classic status

I've been told it's likely that first production will be July now not May, with delivery in Sept. Might therefore not be such a bad thing for the 987 owners planning to swap if they're set to reach £55k in the summer [;)]

what do you think of £180k 991 GT3 prices, or specing up a 981 Spyder to 70k not knowing if they will be 10k down in 12 months. I still think at £55k it's a solid sports car with good future values, what else can you buy for £50k without losing 20k in 2 years ? lets face it the 987.2 Spyder is still not back at list price yet.

Spyder production starts in July and cars will be shipped late July before summer shutdown September & October build slots are what most customers will be getting in 2015 So far I have requested, without any positive answer, a February/March 2016 build date - Dealer says he currently has no slots showing after October 2015 build date[&o] I was told late July I should be able to experience a car at the PEC - It would be interesting to know how many dealer demo's will be available for both GT4 & Spyder and are they included in the rumoured production figures of circa 200 & 150 UK examples

I've been told July delivery however this is currently unconfirmed ; I'm expecting a definitive answer within the next 2-3 weeks. I was told that the Spyder is not on the same 'line' as the GT cars however that may not be the case; we do know there are shortages of 918 buckets.

Hi Andrew - apparently Spyders are made in Stuttgart factory along with 991's and currently don't seem to be suffering the GT4 production saga[&o]In the meantime as the stock chair from the get go was a GT2 buckets I think the chances of seeing the cars as forecasted from day one looks good ( for now)

last year we saw 5 Spyders at two events, what is the chance of seeing 6 this year. i will be going to Porsche on the Prom and will try to get a friend to take his who did not atend last year. if the same people are going plus one we could be there and see 6 in a line for a picture

They appall me! And now GT3RS is announced, the "new best thing" phenomena continues and there are loads up for sale... I think the current Spyder owners may be in a sweet spot - 5 years down the line since launch the cars are almost back at new sale prices (albeit not list) yet in another 5 years they will be 10 year old cars, that strange void where cars aren't new but they aren't old and newer stuff starts to be more attractive to many punters. What's the best possible 2005 Boxster worth today? Spyder won't be worth multiples of that will it?

I suppose I meant many multiples of what the best 987.2 Boxster S will be worth. Funny market at the moment though I reckon.
