Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

I have a question for the Spyder owners and those configuring new cars. Interior trim in exterior paint colour, I think ok if white but if as I am thinking and decide to be brave and move from what appears to be common choice and I go for yellow. Do I stick wilth all painted trim or change it to leather, aluminium finish or whatever? Presently got centre console in black satin aluminium and rest in yellow. I have got leather and alcantara interior with yellow stitching.

IMO if I was going white or yellow painted interior is very 1990's look now and I would go for ali look and brushed ali gear knob to finsh the centre console area off nicely[;)] If I go for the Classic Sport interior you can't change the painted bits from GT SIlver [] which is fine on certain colours ie Black Agate Sapphire but not sure it will work with Rhodium which was high on my list[&o] Really need to see some cars in the flesh but right now it seems like the pretty basic spec New York show car is the only finished example to date [:D] [:D] Where are the press cars [:D]

I agree regarding painted trim and am leaning towards either black finsh aluminium or leather to match interior now. Yes, where are the magazine reviews and videos of test drives

Have seen lots of those in all sorts of colours.. In some ways the 3D images on configurater are excellent but why cannot they replicate colour of actual car paintwork closer to actual.

Other manufacturers do a much better job on their websites so I think it lies in IT & technology as far as Porsche is concerned [:D] Definitely going to be exercising the old concours winning girl today[8D]

You are never going to get that close. They have painted samples in the showroom so the selection process probably is best done using both. I'd probably get it all wrong if I were doing it. I know for sure if I had built a Spyder from new (original) then I most likely would of had the wheels off for Carerra Sport ones, buckets would of been out on looks before the practicality of them cancelled them out, and I would of asked the dealer to remove the side stripes. Would of been the cheapest car for sale if I was trying to sell it today. The black wheels were never to my taste, and before I collected mine from Flat 6 I was going to get them redone in silver shortly after I got it home. The minute I saw them in the flesh I loved them. There was a photo posted the other day in here with two cars parked nose to nose, black and silver wheels, the silver ones show all the contours, look bigger, fill the arches more optically, so I considered it again. Went in the garage and looked at them. No way, they look perfect as they are.

There won't be many miles on it but there will be Terms & Conditions first and foremost no wet weather outings and no suncap motoring either [8D]

Last year saw almost a record number of Spyders together at Porsches on the Prom, can that record be surpassed? The wonderful Welsh weekender is rapidly approaching. Saturday 23rd May sees the 3rd PCGB Anglesey Track Day. If you wish to attend this delightful day at what must be the prettiest race track in the UK, please contact Paul Grainger at Club Office on 01608 652911 as soon as possible as the event is filling up fast. Novices remain very welcome. If you have never done a track day before, there is no better opportunity to drive your car as Porsche intended and instructors will also be available to help you make the most of the day. A few full and half day places remain available. Spectators are more than welcome, free of charge and passenger laps will no doubt be on offer from many of the participating drivers. The following day, Sunday 24th May, sees the return of the ever popular Porsches on the Prom. The event will take place on the North Shore Promenade, Llandudno and entry will be via the lifeboat access, directly opposite the St George's Hotel. Cars will start gathering from 10.30am and we will finish for 4.30pm. If your car suffers from any sort of leak, we would appreciate it if you would bring a drip tray or some form of mat, as an oil spill on the Prom is a definite "no-no". There is no fee for entrance and everyone is welcome. People will be attending from the length and breadth of the UK. There are plenty of eating places in Llandudno and, as an historic Victorian seaside resort, it is a fascinating town to visit. With regret, parking on the Prom is for Porsche cars only, even PCGB members will not be permitted to park other marques in the line up, however exotic. If you are attending as part of a group and one of you is not in their Porsche for whatever reason, please alert them to this requirement to avoid any misunderstandings turning into disappointment. For those wishing to make a long weekend of it, many PCGB members are also attending the Prestatyn Car Show on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May. See www.http://prestatyncarshow.blogspot.co.uk for more details. Finally, if anyone planning to attend Porsches on the Prom is able to help myself and Arfor Jones meet, greet and park cars then please let me know – regional@porscheclubgb.com. I look forward to seeing you there.

come on, give us the lowdown, were were they from, did you do all four and pads, how much and are they original spec so no problem with warranty

Just the front as the rears still have life in them. I was going to do them but then thought I may as well wait until they are ready. All the parts were from East London OPC. Did the discs, pads, changed the clips, pins, rattle plates, caliper bolts... all as per the OPC. Worked out about £600-and-something once they gave me a 10% discount. £300 saving. Some skin from a knuckle, nails that don't seem to be able to come clean, bruised forearm, and an aching back. 1 hour 40 minutes first side, 40 minutes the other. The same OPC flagged them in December and asked if I wanted to change them while they serviced it, but did say they would last a bit longer. In the last month they have seen Silverstone's circuit, and a 1,700+ mile trip to and around the Highlands chasing GT3s. Brake wear light came on just outside home as I pulled up! Got new rear tyres coming on Wednesday too.

Hope you are fitting them personally too My office are only 2 miles from OPC East London could have had a coffee on me in trendy Hackney Wick[;)]

Low miles low priced Spyder new to market [&o] http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/boxster-987-05-12/porsche-boxster-spyder/4170134

On a recent trip to the Isle of Man a number of mainland members were able to attend a Region 30 monthly meeting, one of the travellers being Ted Walker (who took these pictures) in his Spyder. There is rumoured to be a Spyder resident on the island, but the details are unclear.

Ted’s car lives outside all year, but periods of driving wind and rain during the trip certainly proved just how watertight the hood is. The mileage for the week confirms that not all Spyders are garage queens!

It has moved now to Gallions Reach. Think the West London one has gone somewhere too?
