Nothing like an Elise Mk 1 lift off tent much more like my first ever sports car TR6 [ORIGINAL: MrDemon roof looks dire, like a Lotus Elise mk 1 roof now.

Is that not the same car as the show car in the other pics! Does look a bit 1970's in there but most convertibles with all the heavy linings removed would probably look similar too Header rail looks very weird though but as my roof is down 24/7 no big deal for my usage[8D]ORIGINAL: spyderwhite But that does look a mess inside though!also the front roof looks ugly and clumsy!not impressed at all!but maybe it's not the finished article!

because I only say what I feel, don't care much for all the "look at me tell me how nice my car is bullshit" the roof looks like a 1970 thing, with all that metal work showing, the 987.2 SPyder roof is very clean inside., and no I did not have an Elise S1 because of that shit roof, I had the S2 and then the Exige. But you are correctORIGINAL: clubsport Why the consistent negative comments on peoples current and prospective cars, seems so childish...all the time? Didn't you have a mk1 Elise?, nothing like the roof on my mk1 111s, that was literally camping (when you could find the allen key) compared to the Boxster roof!

I just did not want a GTS with a 3.8 in it, the car will be slower than my Spyder and the GT4 is a far better car with all the GT3 bits in it, I am not in it for numbers or to make money, I just like driving them, guess NO ONE is coming to the PCGB track day next week end ? thought not !!! I guess you will all be cleaning them ! Porsche cannot even make the new Spyder with the nice seats so has to now have the old design ! (yes great seats all the same but with a new car you would expect the 918 seats, o yes like the GT4's are getting.ORIGINAL: daro911Because Mr D ordered the wrong model a GT4 [ORIGINAL: clubsport Why the consistent negative comments on peoples current and prospective cars, seems so childish...all the time?][
] Tin Top no wind in the hair, £4k more than base Spyder, which did get the 3.8L after all, and while the GT4 comes with 2 armchairs the Spyder has his favoured must have buckets as standard GT4's will be as common as cack compared to the Spyder [8D] All in all a bad call

I will be unpleasantly surprised if a single road test describes it as a GTS with a 3.8L lump [&o] Spyder has old buckets? I never knew they did height adjustable heated buckets prior to the 981 - Learn something every day - Now off to wash and garage my Spyder as it has just had a fast furious 30 mile blast Current favoured Spyder spec for those who asked earlier GT Silver / Classic Sport Interior[8D]ORIGINAL: MrDemon I just did not want a GTS with a 3.8 in it, the car will be slower than my Spyder and the GT4 is a far better car with all the GT3 bits in it, I am not in it for numbers or to make money, I just like driving them, guess NO ONE is coming to the PCGB track day next week end ? thought not !!! I for one was offered a 981 spyder but declined because the better, nicer looking car already exsists!and looking at the roof makes me wonder about how much effort has been put into the rest of the car! yes it has a more powerful engine but for me that's all it has to offer but as our cars are quick enough on the road do you really need it!

From USA One guy has Sept build Nov delivery however no sports buckets will be available (half or full shell) There is a stop order on the buckets. Curious
When was the last time one could claim Porsche had created a badly thought through model [:-]ORIGINAL: tyinsky It makes me uncomfortable to say it, but I think Demon sums it up. I was quite excited at seeing the new car but now the details of it have been revealed it does seem to have been badly thought through.

Why Porsche never used a very similar roof to the Carrera GT I do not know …. [

I agree it's a very lazy design concept :-(ORIGINAL: tyinsky It makes me uncomfortable to say it, but I think Demon sums it up. I was quite excited at seeing the new car but now the details of it have been revealed it does seem to have been badly thought through.
But you lambast everybody who buys what THEY want, ad nauseum - you couldn't make it up!ORIGINAL: MrDemon I buy what I WANT
And so say all of us! If only you practiced what you preach!ORIGINAL: MrDemon it matters not what I think.
Is that grease on the inside of the hood hinges? I'm sorry but that just looks utter crap. At least the silly hood on the first one saved weight and it was a full on compromise in the pursuit of a lower cog. This is just like every new car. Out to please first and everything else comes second. The overall shape of the car doesn't even suit the humps. I have to admit the looks of the 987 version won me over, but upon doing further research and seeing there was a lot more to it under the surface was the thing that won me over. I personally think the GTS looks far better than the spyder in 981 guise.
I'm pretty sure that won't be grease, but it does look like it in that pic! As for the looks of the new Spyder, I will wait until I see one in the flesh before passing judgement; I'm sure it will look great, especially in GT Silver/Classic, I bet the pictures don't do it justice. The squarer edges on the inside of the humps no doubt suit the overall look of the 981. I decided not to go for one, but it will be a rare and desirable car, just like my current Spyder (which even has Michelin PSS tyres on it!). [

I'm with you - Don't judge a book by it's cover & all that jazz [ORIGINAL: homerdog As for the looks of the new Spyder, I will wait until I see one in the flesh before passing judgement; I'm sure it will look great, especially in GT Silver/Classic, I bet the pictures don't do it justice. The new roof does look a bit odd. I think the overall car will look better in the flesh! Strange how Porsche hasnt really bigged this car up though. After pulling my LOI for it and testing driving the 981 Cayman 2.7 at the weekend i am hooked and on the look for one! It was brilliant!
Just needs black wheels! [ORIGINAL: daro911 This pic looks like a stunning piece of kit to me [/color]
