Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: philnotts99 . I think the overall car will look better in the flesh! Strange how Porsche hasnt really bigged this car up though.
Porsche leave the bigging up to the press but as the car doesn't appear to actually exist other than in a few pre-production cars [:D] we have had no reviews to read All very unusual to say the least The squared edge of the rear wings matches the squared edge of the new streamliners had they used the existing 987 Spyder rounded humps it would not have worked IMO

Actually got some info from my OPC today and they have said November build slots so looks like a 2016 reg car for me as I go back to work early December and will be away till New Year at least. Final spec (at least this week) Porsche Code http://www.porsche-code.com/PG3KRNU8

Any chance you can ask them if some cars will be available here for viewing at PEC in July as original forecasted Nice spec but no air con? [&o]

Well, it gets stranger. Just had mail back from guy at OPC and Porsche have been on phone to say that you cannot have heated seats without having either manual or auto (climate control) air con. Apparently it is a glitch in configerator! So I will be having air con after all. I was leaving it out as had decided that if warm enough or really not raining then it was roof down as intended so not needed and try to stick to idea behind Spyder of being lightweight. I have spoken to PEC and they have no info on when getting a car but asked to be informed as soon as they know anything. Can only wait now.

I thought it weird ordering the auto wipers but no air con! Mind you using a Spyder in the rain makes no sense to my kind either [:D][:D] I am hoping to delay any final spec until I have seen and driven the bu99er[8D]

It was not the auto wipers but dimming mirrors I wanted; I find that they are more of a bonus in low cars like this as the dazzle at night annoys me. Sign of old age. Also reason for upgraded headlights, like to have more power there nowadays.

I see that GT3 RS road tests have appeared today with Chris Harris video on Wednesday. So if it has taken that long for a car launched at Geneva, maybe a few more weeks before tests of Spyder?

If production starts in July as originally scheduled then June might finally see some reviews on how Good Bad or Ugly the Gen 2 Spyder really is although some on here have already condemned the car to the duff corner []

I have not put it in the duff corner lol It's still a great car, just a small market for it which is ok as not many cars made anyway. I don't see where it fits in the line up or what it offers a 987.2 owner or GTS owner. The old one was quite a big change to the way they drive and also very direct and a good weight saving . the 987.2 Spyder came 1st then the r came later with a few tweeks. This time the gt4 came 1st and it looks like Porsche thought, o well we have made the 3.8 fit let's knock out a boxster with it but not make it as good as the gt4 . The new one is mainly GTS spec ie just x73 sus, with a 3.8 so neither as focused as the old one or as nice to live with as the GTS. And of course no weight saving in real terms. Great set up the x73 but then the GTS with buckets and x73 is the better bet for most. ESP if you want PDK and a working roof. The humps IMO on this car add nothing, the roof I wish was electric and trick r8 style and PDK should have been an option. I would even say a 981 GTS PDK would be quicker then the 981 Spyder due to how easy the PDK is to drive fast for 95% of people. So it leaves the 981 Spyder as less usable, so that puts it in the fun weekend bracket, but it looks less fun then the old one so why bother ? All a bit nice and finished off ( bar the roof) to be a hardcore fun toy. But a lot of us came from Elise, nobles, atoms, caterhams to the 987.2 car we want raw but are a bit older then we used to be lol. Atom and caterham = 20-30 year olds Elise , nobles 25-35 years olds 987.2 Spyder 30-50 year olds 981 Spyder 50+ lol don't forget to spec comfort seat so you can get out :p Lol just a bit of fun :)

Crikey! A missive from Mr D that I agree with (mostly!) That's a first! Except for one thing I am 63 in a 987 Spyder (58 when I bought it though!) By the way Porsche has just lodged a claim for the GT 5 model name. let,s start a Boxster GT 5 thread shall we ?

Not many will agree with him[:D] [:D] Was going to take him to task myself I am a 70 year old and drive a 987.2 Spyder so not a car just for the young guns [;)][;)]

ORIGINAL: Nattyboy Spotted that (but then I am checking several times a day for one lol). Very strong money for a PDK car ? Maybe SOR ?
my manual is going up for more than that ie £50k+[;)]so as long as its a late chassis number ie 2012 MY build and not a car that was built 6 months earlier and sat in a showroom then its on the money
