Without spending an hour on the configurator, what would be the build cost on the silver Spyder above?

The premiums seem negligible compared to those being asked and apparently achieved on the GT4?

I am genuinely surprised at the spread.

I guess there's maybe a couple of things, not the best time of year to get that interested in convertibles, and the GT4 is the first actual GT Cayman, so it was always going to be very sought after.

As the fortunate owner of both cars I have noticed a few differences between these cars, even with my limited miles in each so far, ie less than 200.

Firstly surprisingly to me, the Spyder seems to go and sound better, throttle response is sharper, exhaust has a sharper bark to it, it just feels like a scalded cat. The GT4 seems to be more refined, less eager with a quieter exhaust esp at lower revs, and this is even with the windows open so not just down to the roof, and it does seem to have quite an annoying whine/whirr from the transmission.

I'm kind of putting this down to a tighter engine in the GT4, and I fully expect, and hope, it will loosen up quite a bit with more miles on it. Not really sure why the GT4 would be tighter if that's what it is, it just feels like the Spyder is somehow fully run in already in comparison.

It would be interesting to hear any comments from GT4 owners with higher miles for sure.

Know what you mean about the tight engine in the gt4 I have only done 300 miles in mine but am noticing an improvement although not gone above 4.5k yet. Also the exhaust is getting louder as the miles go on and hopefully I will put some more miles on at the weekend! Another thing I noticed is now its getting shell vmax it seems to have come alive so maybe opc put in only unleaded and not super or a low octane super from bp,esso or supermarket fuel! Only shells finest will do!

Good to know I'm not the only one that noticed this, and also good to know you're seeing an improvement with miles. Haven't put any petrol in the GT4 yet, so will make sure I get some vmax in soon, good point.

The badge means everything to some.

So don't change the spec just the names.

Let's suppose Porsche had called these two cars:-

GT SPYDER

CAYMAN R2

I guess that might shuffle things up in the demand stakes😕

Forget the badges it's the package that counts [;)]

Following has some serious badges but it's the No.1 spot that says it all for me

As a founding Spyderman on here you are always welcome but as my example is looking like May/June build now (yet to be confirmed) I think you should pop into Solihull,Silverstone or Bristol as they all have great spec examples looking for a new owner [8D]

Don't suppose you happened to take any pics? I was toying with the idea of going to take a browse of white with the classic interior before my spec locks.

The link on their website shows how the interior looks and if you call them they will send you a video of the car . Personally it's not my choice but I am not buying it so its irrelevant .On Silver it carries it off better .If I was lucky enough to own it would stick with black/alcantara interior have a look at the Silverstone one .

Thanks for that. I'll go take another look, there were no pics last time I looked.

I may take a drive over anyway, it's only around 50 miles and good to see things in the flesh. My current spec is white/white trim/leather with red stitching.

Now sold! Anyone on here by chance
Romans International
2015/65 - Porsche Boxster Spyder - £SOLD

Romans are proud to offer this stunning 2015/65 Porsche Boxster Spyder for sale presented in 'GT Silver' Metallic with Black Leather/Alcantara with Red Stitching. The Boxster Spyder is simply the ultimate version of the most intoxicating sports car you can buy. Everything is centred around saving weight which makes this car one of the best open top driver's cars currently on the market.

The Boxster Spyder is the most extreme version of Porsche's 981 Boxster. It is lighter by 30kg, longer by 10 millimetres and lower by 11 millimetres compared with the Boxster GTS. The front is more aggressive in its design and there are distinctive streamlined humps behind the rollover hoops which is a tribute to the 718 Spyder of the 1960s.

Porsche has taken it's cue from the recent Cayman GT4 and given the Spyder the same 3.8 litre engine from the Porsche 911 Carrera S. It makes 370bhp, rather than the 380bhp of the GT4, but that shouldn't be a deal-breaker when you consider that the Spyder is 25kg lighter than the GT4. Power is up by 45bhp on the Boxster GTS but 10bhp down on the Cayman GT4 and torque is up by 37lb ft. taking the total to 310lb ft. This makes the Spyder the most powerful Boxter ever produced and will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 mph with the roof up or down via a manual gearbox which is the only transmission option.

The car's setup is designed for those who prioritise driving above anything else and that's shown in the standard specification the car comes with. Sports Chrono package is standard, the suspension is 20mm lower which means the car is a lot firmer but the damping is supple and effectively soaks up the road imperfections. The Spyder doesn't come with the same suspension setup as the Cayman GT4, but it uses the passive sports suspension which is an option on the Boxster GTS. On the rear axle there is a mechanical limited slip differential, which is part of the Porsche Torque Vectoring system. The steering of the Boxster Spyder is slightly quicker as it is taken from the 991 Turbo and features the 360mm diameter steering as seen on the 991 GT3 RS.

The biggest criticism of the old Boxster Spyder was that it's manual roof was incredibly fiddly and slow to put on or take off. However, the roof on this new car is a great improvement as it is far easier to erect and stow and can also be used right up to the cars top speed of 180mph. The mechanism saves 10kg and the large rear deck lid which conceals both the folded hood and rear boot is made of aluminium.

The Porsche Boxster Spyder is a sharp, predictable and adjustable driver's car that makes it satisfying at any speed and hence it has been reviewed by experts to be the best Boxster in the range. This beautiful example comes supplied with Porsche manufacturer's warranty until October 2018.
