Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

All Spyders are invited to attend the R21 Breakfast Meet at Denham Airfield on Sunday 13th March. I will be there with my 981 Spyder and it would be good if more could attend.

The event from 10.00 to 12.00 is at the Crew Room at Denham Airfield (Denham Aerodrome, Hangar Road, Denham, Uxbridge, Buckinghamshire UB9 5DL). It is a great place to enjoy a bacon sandwich and watch the aircraft activity. Hopefully the weather will be kind and we will also be able to enjoy our Porsches. You will be welcome in any car if the weather is too bad to get the Spyder out.

The weather will be fine because I haven't got a Porsche to turn up in[&:] but I shall make an effort :ROFLMAO:

Not so keen on the Red Vents I have to say .....Looks nicer also with the delete Red on the centre consul looks a bit heavy .The Red across the dash and around the door cards look nice [:)]

Again only my opinion

colour coded vents are a massive no no imo. as above, we all have to say "only my opinion" these days to keep every one happy ;-)

nice weather for ducks this week !! it's sleeting here now !

Jonathan,

Thankfully tomorrow's forecast looks OK for you to collect the Spyder. (I bet you're glad it wasn't arranged for today, in the snow showers!).

I'm guessing you'll be up nice and early - when are you collecting?

Steve

Hi Steve

i was originally down for Tuesday and it rained then as well. So glad it's tomorrow. I think it's supposed to be dry.

My my train gets in just after 10. Don't see me sleeping much tonight! Too excited.

Roll on Helmsley and cakes!

Regards

Jonathan

Got the spyder at last but disappointed with the detailing job done on the car by a local detailer. The car was fitted with expel film to the front

and sills. All the panels covered have bubbles and marks and the front bumper the film is cut in places but does not but together is this right.

should the front bumper be covered in one piece only and any feed back would be appreciated.

Ouch!

If it was mine it would be going back. I would request they remove it and full refund be given.

After all, if you cant do it right first time, you probably wont the second time, and in my book you dont deserve a second chance.

Hi SC

This sounds like a right nightmare !

I had the front bumper and sills done with Suntek, as my detailer recommended this instead of Xpel as it goes on easier and is less visible.

When I collected the car he pointed out one very small piece of grit that got caught under the film. I could hardly see it, and wouldn't be able to show you where it is now.

All the seams on the sills are turned in, so with doors shut it looks perfect, if you look really carefully you can see the edges with the doors open.

I'm pretty sure the bumper gets applied in one piece. There some edges visible, but again you wouldn't notice if I didn't point them out.

I have absolutely no air bubbles or marks (other than what was pointed out to me).

I agree with John, I would get them to remove it, then go some where else where you have a recommendation.

Not sure where you are but I used Justin at Exclusive Car Care near Trowbridge.

He was great.

Hope you get a good outcome, I know how much we put into getting this right !

I think it's normal to sometimes get a few very small moisture bubbles, but they should totally disappear after a few days. I believe the Xpel pre-cut section which is what I have is in 2 pieces, a large one which covers most of the front, but also a separate small piece that fits only along the bottom of the centre vent area, just above the splitter. This is the only area I can see the edges on mine.

If it's only the bubbles you're worried about I'd give it a few days, if there other marks that's probably a different story.

Any close up pics you could post ??

Thanks for the feed back. Some of the air bubbles are big and one must be over an inch long and when you look at the film under the garage lights the

film looks marked. Around the petrol opener the film is not lined up and down some of the edges. On the bonnet it looks like finger prints and black marks

under the film. The hand over got off to a good start when the sales man took me to one side and said sorry about the condition of the car but it was not

there fault. I will try and get some photos up loaded today.

I think I will give the PPF a wide birth and grin and bare any chips [:(]

In the meantime OPC's today:-

Spyder x 1

GT4 x 19!

Air bubbles will never go :-( I have a few small ones :-(

water ones will over time go.

I dislike film, 1st time I have had it and it has plus points and minus points.

washing is also hard as dirt clings to the lines where the film ends, as does any wax one might use, cannot ever say I have seen a car after a year and though mm that film looks good what ever make it is !!

edges lift, stone chips on film look rank and most seem to discolour in the end.

Another reason I will give it a wide berth plus can make paint look be very orange peel underneath [&:]

I think the only areas worth having the film applied are the sills and forward of the intakes where no protection is applied - black mark for Porsche there..!
