I would like to see the traditional P O R S C H E script with the stripes laid out in that position - could work a treat

The finish must be bad if they mentioned it on the hand over and never even waited to see if you noticed.

Did the OPC actually install the film themselves ??

In reply to SC50 on last page.
It was a local detailer who had the car for 8 days but chose to do the job at the last minute and the car was returned to the dealer 2 hours

before collection. I have spoken with the guy and he admitted the job was not up to this standard but will sort it or I can have my money back.

When the film is removed can the paint work be damaged in any way ?

The paint itself should be fine, there can be issues with re-sprayed parts but on a new car shouldn't be an issue. Normally it's removed using a heat to assist, and it can leave a residue behind which obviously needs to be totally cleaned off before re-installation.

I'd be a bit concerned that is was allowed to go to the dealer in the first place with a known poor job. Personally I think I'd be looking at getting my money back and talking to someone like 'Paintshield'.

Good to see that a few Spyders may join us at The Crew Room at Denham Airfield next Sunday (13th March).

A word of warning about the best way to approach the airfield because the road in from the north is very narrow and rutted and not an ideal Porsche route. It's safest to approach from the Denham direction a quick look at Google maps will help you work out a route.

Let's hope for a dry day!

"Spent half a day last week driving the GT4 at the PEC - It's a very good car on track (not as proficient IMHO as the 991 GT3/RS - quite rightly as these are more costly things ) but I didn't like it too much in the road - harsh and mostly uenjoyable on anything with a poor undulating surface. I basically spent all the time whilst on the road thinking how brilliant the Spyder was in comparison - we have bought the bargain of the the century - it's such a brilliant road car - enjoy !

I find peoples comments odd, the GT4 rides plusher than the x73 981, firmer but it rides the bumps and pot holes nicer ! very odd..

I was out with the supercar drivers club on a run yesterday 1st at Lambo than at Caterham the GT4 ride is so plush.

these comment are SO far out one has to think he had PASM on !!! lol

I do believe the new Spyder has different spring rates plus anti-roll bars from the standard x73 set up ??

I would also say the ride on the new Spyder was one of the areas that really impressed me driving on the back roads around Silverstone during my PEC session.

I wouldn't really say I've found the ride in the GT4 that harsh, certainly nice and firm.

A Cayman GT4 RS isn’t likely…

It’s not the first time Preuninger has been asked about the possibility, and his answer feels well-versed. “If you would make a GT4 RS it would be a pretty quick car, and I don’t think we could produce that car at a lower price than the GT3 RS. You would have a positioning problem with that thing.

“We are aware of the need for something like this in the market, but there are no plans on something like this at the moment.”

“Based on the huge success we had on the GT4, you can imagine we won’t ditch that project. The next generation might get a GT4 as well,” he continues. So that means the 718.

Does the fact it’s a four-cylinder turbo scupper things, when one of the current GT4’s best assets is its howling flat-six engine?

“Not necessarily,” he says, with a knowing smile. “On the GT models we want the six cylinders, the atmospheric engines.” That suggests some dug in heels, and a range-topping 718 that stays old-school with its choice of engine.

In fact, natural aspiration is here for a long time yet

“We have no decision on going turbocharged,” Preuninger tells us. “There has been turbo engines before, and we have huge expertise, and we can really afford to have both [setups] in the product programme.

“If we can live with the fact a Carrera GTS will be a little quicker in the mid-range, which could be the situation in the future thanks to turbocharging… I wouldn’t care to be honest. It’s a totally different driving experience. As soon as the revs are above 5,000 we’d be gone anyway.

“I think it would be the smart and right move to stay with normally aspirated engines for the GT cars for the future.”

Preuninger excitedly talks up 911 R, and its ‘purist’ credentials. And he reckons it shares DNA with the [link=http://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/boxster-spyder/first-drive-0]Boxster Spyder[/link], even if that isn’t a full-strength Porsche motorsport model.

“It’s devoid of everything luxury, and has a manual gearbox. It falls into the same category as the R. Total devotion to looking for [saving] every single gram.”

So if there’s going to be a 718 Cayman GT4, it would seem foolish to bet against a 718 Boxster Spyder, too.

he talks up the R alright, most of the weight saving is junking the PDK box !

take that out and they saved 20kg !! that's it !!

when Ferrari did the scud over the f430 they had 100kg's saved !!

he does talk his cars up lol 20kg is poor. And where are the FUCHS wheels , very lazy to fit the GT3 wheels !

Rob.

Wonder how long before next incarnation of Spyder & GT4s think there's a market for at very least next year.

Cliff.

Is anyone else using the CTECK MX5 charger with there new Spyder or as the battery i wont be needing one of these? The car wont be used much in the week, so mainly weekends.

Thanks,

Phil
