Thanks Daro. I'm really pleased with it.

My thoughts were that the 718 Spyder (if it does come) could well be 4cyl. I think they may use it to showcase what they can do with the flat four and leave the 718 GT4 with a six. So, as possibly the last flat six Boxster, I decided to spec it without any regrets.

I think the next Gen Boxster Spyder & GT4 will still be a 6 pot other wise people won't buy them in my opinion.

These are special edition models so i think the engine will remain a 6 pot.

I sincerely hope so anyway.

Cheers Cliff.

3.4 v 3.8 [;)]

it needs a 3.8 to carry the extra weight and size ;-) those who have both or had both, just open a door, the 981 feels twice the weight even though it's now alloy ! odd !!

be interesting to put mine up vs a new one in a drag race, I must do one vs the gt4 this week end.

Anyone looking for a rare colour Spyder at full retail money might be interested in this new PH advert ;-/

Platinum Silver Immaculate Boxster Spyder - Purist Spec - Manual - Short Shift - Carbon Buckets - Spyder 19" unmarked alloys - Porsche Sports Exhaust - Sports Chromo - Nubuck Edged Overmats - Aux In - Radio - Cruise Control I am having to sell my Spyder due to lack of use. The car was ordered and delivered to Glasgow OPC on 31/3/2011 new by the first owner (hence it being specced imo correctly)! He kept it until around 9k miles and then part ex'd it at Border Cars for a motorhome. The last owner purchased it as a stop gap whilst his GT3 was on order and only had it a few months before it went into Edinburgh OPC. I purchased at the back end of 2014. The car has had its first service at 9k miles and then the major service with plugs etc at 11500 miles. Both of these services are OPC. I drove the car for around 5700 miles last year before taking it off the road at the end of November as no point in using it in Winter where it can get dirty / salty. I bought it back out mid March and spent almost £900 with Nine Excellence last month having an interim oil change, brake fluid change, coolant change and fast road geo set up. The car didn't need servicing until the end of this year, but i am the 6k mile kinda oil change guy! The car also has OPC warranty until the end of December this year and the OPC roadside assistance. Condition wise the interior hasn't a mark on it bar some small scuffs to the driver plastic sill cover where the boot and bonnet release are. This is a generic 987/997 part which could be replaced easily. The bonnet also has a few small stone chips but only really visible due to the light colour of the car. Otherwise the alloys are unmarked and there are no dents / scratches. I am very picky and looked for 3-4 months before finding this and flying up to Scotland to collect. Tyres have 3-4mm across the tread and are N spec PS2. The car drives like a dream and is super tight and very pointy. I am very anal about keeping things maintained so they drive like they should and I am sure any prospective buyer will see this. The car is always garaged and have only run it on V Power or Esso Supreme the odd time a Shell isn't around. Any inspection welcome although this would be at the buyers expense. The previous owner is also on PH so can confirm how good it was in his ownership. With regards to Rev ranges, it had 10 hits in range one when I purchased and have touched it only on the way up around 4 / 5 times. Not sure how many ranges it will relate to but trying to be as transparent as possible. I know how to drive manuals properly so not hits on the way down at all! As said only due to lack of use having a young child and business to run am I selling. Will be back in the future but time to say goodbye for now. All invoices from original purchase to servicing are including plus books which are all in mint condition.

Hi Cliff

I totally get what you are saying but as has been often seen, there's often more than enough people to buy anything Porsche makes in limited supply. Just may not be sold to the type of buyer who cares about the 6 cylinder era. I reckon even the 987 Spyder would have sold out if it was limited production. The Boxster market wasn't used to a hardcore Boxster that could leave you getting wet and cold until you can pull over to erect the roof or suffer not bothering to take to roof off to enjoy al fresco driving because of the hassle and risk on a variable English day. So it didn't sell well with that unfamiliar concept but has now paved the way for the Spyder concept. But if there was only a couple available per OPC I think it would have prodded people to rush in for the exclusivity. Sorry I digress. But I think even if the next Spyder has a 4 pot turbo, (a) it will come long enough after the Boxster market has got used to the fact that 4 pot turbo is the only propulsion available in the Boxster (probably by then the market is impressed with the 718 and accepted it) and (b) it will be in such limited availability that there'll be sufficient buyers wanting the exclusivity. Might even be people who have run a 4 pot turbo 718 for a few years & its the perfect upgrade. Rather than someone still owning a 981 or 987 and still scorning the 718 & loss of the 6 cylinder.

Yes that's a more of a correct comment regarding different people will buy a 4 pot us more hard core enthusiast have got used to 6 pots and might think twice about a 4 pot on special so called models such as Boxster Spyder & Cayman GT4 .

Agree the Boxster in general has move on a lot it's more hard core but without being unusable for everyday use.

Personally I would only buy so called Special models as above if 6 pot .

There's obviously a market for both above because I could not get either and I am not rich enough or in fact if I was would not pay silly over list prices.

Let's hope the waits not to long for next Gen put our minds at rest as to the next engine.

Cliff.

got the trio together for a meet up ;-)

GT4 looks 911 big. Loving the R, I do have to repeat the best car I have owned !

A nice car indeed meet the owner when he and his wife picked it up at Edinburgh OPC and I demonstrated how to put the hood up and down as the salesman had no idea :ROFLMAO: .I also know the previous owner who had the car and its history .It is priced right with it having a Porsche warranty till Dec 2016 . Good luck with the sale .

Sunday morning at the Nurburgring. First time I've driven the car on a track and it doesn't disappoint in any way. Had the top down in a couple of tunnels on the way home and wow! Sounds like a DFV rather than a flat 6 when you get it on cam. Which is one very noticeable aspect of the engine now I've run it in. It definitely picks itself up around 4k revs. Some might find that to be a fault but I like it. Gives it a different character when pressing on.

Looks fun, I had avoided the Ring, most people who have gone who I trust have put me off it, I'll have to try a proper track day there one day rather than the open days.

It's quite a few years since I went, but I have to agree - don't go there with a "Trackday" mindset on a public day. Unless you've done lots of laps by gaming, then too much track to learn in a few laps, and the mix of other users is quite alarming! Much better to treat it like a drive down a B road, safe in the knowledge that there shouldn't be anyone coming the other way [:D]

Matches the advice I was given.

1. Drive it like you would a normal public road.

2. Don't time yourself.

3. Don't drive it with friends in convoy.

4. Watch your mirrors.

Seemed to work for me. Don't think gaming would help very much as it gives you no sense of the elevation changes.

Out of interest, what is the current mix of new : old : previous owners on here?

I've had my (May 2010 registered) 987 since February 2011, so consider myself to be in the "old" bracket :p

Steve
