Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Steve Brown said:
So what's the latest update on eta for yours now Daro?

Steve
I don't have a latest update so am working on the last one received dated 30.03.16 which means car docks at Sheerness 16/04/16 and should clear customs and dropped into dealers by 22/04/16 or sooner possibly![8D]

So less than a week before the Big Day....

I thought mine took a long time and I've had it since early Dec !

Hope you've not gone off the idea now after all this time [:D]

Enjoy the moment.

The worlds greatest mid engined forum thread awaits the big review [:)]

Lots of interesting stuff at the WEC at Silverstone today, several 991 GT3 RSs and GT4s, but didn't see a single Spyder!

Preston supercar meet this morning... various Aston, Lamborghini, Ferrari etc.

4 Cayman GT4... 1 Spyder.

and 6 people who told me I should never have sold mine 😱

At Brisbane PC today. Just one spyder for the whole of QLD. Black classic inerior.

Sit down or fall down cost $ 215KAD = £114K

Am I right that they have to pay a ridiculous rate of luxury car tax there in Oz ??

Not sure if that includes all.taxes since price came in conversation with salesman.

I wonder how mant UK Spydermen would be up for paying £115k?

True, but it was about 2C when I left home and very frosty. I also thought I should give the 991 a run as the Spyder has been doing most of the miles recently.

My Spyder has now clocked up over 2,500 miles which must be about 2 years motoring for you Robert!

I am looking after her for you Rob [8D]

Nice couple of hours chasing around the all too congested roads of the SE in the sun yesterday...

That's good to hear, thanks.

I did have some amazing adventures in that car - playing around the Evo triangle with flat6 in his sister car along with a couple of other PCGB buddies in a Cayman R and a 458 was a notable high. The best drive I ever had in it was in France though. Let's just say that an enthusiastically driven 997 turbo was a surprisingly good match for it on well sighted deserted rural roads.

Here's a couple of pics you may not have seen before - the car was just a few hours old in the last one!

there were no 987/2 Spyders there either. but two Atoms.

the 981Spyder that was there had what you may call a strange set of Porsche graphics on the side, not fitted as intende !!!

That was the first 981 Spyder I have seen close up and to be quite honest I am glad I refused the offer of one from OPC Bolton, a super daily driver but unfortunately just not special enough for me to spend all my time polishing. Too watered down from the 987/2.

One coment I could make I love the colour and style of the classic interior but alas the reflection onto the screen from the dash top is just too much and I would too distracting, shame!

A Boxster with 375bhp and the heart out of a 911 3.8L not special enough are you having a:ROFLMAO: at all the 981 Spydermen[]

Did you see the bonnet stripe too - it was at least 10mm off centre and cut very poorly around the badge [:(]

Never crossed my mind you may have been in the atom or I would have said hello.

why spend all that money then make such a ----up of the graphics. the side stripes were on the wrong side, wrong place, it just mesmerised me looking at it. i do like graphics on a car and i am sure many have called me for the Martini graphics i put on the Spyder i had but they were top quality fitted perfectly and took a long time designing them to complement the shape of the Boxster.

If my MD offered me a 981 Spyder to replace my A6 as a company car i would snatch his arm off and love it but no matter if it has a 3.8 engine or not to me its about style not weather a 3.8 is more special than a 3.4. Given a choice for a daily driver i would go for a Cayman GTS.

just my opinion, sorry if it offends and Spyder buyer.
