Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

You can add sports mode for £800

PSE is about £2k

but the car looks very clean to me, bar that odd sill mark , and those miles are where the value is.

so cannot understand the £43k value, what else has 6k miles ?

some cars look well used and a bit tired, A quick look round any event you see a degree of mintness and dry use vs a wet use car, there are tell tale signs and the car for sale looks like a dry use car only.

As as I said on PH get a over Rev check done and if I have time I might be able to go Friday My self.

You guys are all very helpful.

I will insist on the over rev check, and will also do the check on the last service but the sales guy assured me it had two Porsche services and with it being a one owner car i am sure its been looked after.

I will probably retro fit the sports exhaust, not sure about sport mode. Local Porsche center are quoting just under 2K for the exhaust and I do really want one with this option so I guess will have to suck up and pay out.

I am interested to see with my own eyes this mark on the sill and also the drivers seat headrest, I assume both can be sorted out.

If anyone with knowledge is willing to meet me at the garage on Friday my number is 07889 303167, aiming to be there around lunchtime. I am tempted to see the Top555 car on the way 'up north', as that one really looks mint in the pictures but they want more money and its twice the miles.

J 17 have indicated a deal around the 43.5K mark so seem keep to shift it before Xmas.

If the over rev and service history all check out and you can push them for 43K using the exhaust retro fit as a lever I would say it would be a very good buy as mileage is extremely low and will be a great car and investment if you plan on holding on to it long term.I brought mine back in Jan and got a very good deal so it's a buyers market this time of year. Good luck with it and hope it's the car for you.

Best Regards

Andy

See what deal they will do on supply & fit of a PSE otherwise its a great low mileage Spyder

Good luck

Good luck on Friday - you are on the verge of joying a small but unique group of Spydermen[:)]

Rev check or PPI could be done at Cambridge Porsche Centre,Harston abot 35 mins away -Cambridge 01223 872872 - ask for Dan Fisher

Would agree get the car well checked out ...if faults are found it will be a leverage to get the price down .PPI 111 point may cost you £100 but well worth it would check out to see if Cambridge can slot you in

The cars in Nottingham !! A trip to Cambridge seems over the top lol You could get a 111 OPC check done at yep, Nottingham :)

The top55 car again stunning, prep is better, The car gain has a dry life and was from a local collection.

one of the 2 has to be brought, they are hard to find with nice spec, low miles and dry use.

I still think they will fetch £60k in the next few years for low mile examples.

The Top55 car seems to lack Chrono and Switchable Exhaust looking at the photos posted SO the J17 looks the better buy with half the miles

As others have said, the PSE and sport functionality (without the dashtop stopwatch) can be retrofitted (at a cost) - sport alters the throttle pedal response and gives a bit more slip angle before PSM cuts in and I'm glad I had it done to mine. There are a couple of odd markings showing in the photos of the Junction 17 car - n/s sill black mark, headrest, and the wheelbolts look quite rusty for such low mileage (I'd have thought that it wouldn't have seen salty roads with that low level of use?). Over-revs report is a good idea already pointed out. I guess you just have to have a long trek out to view, and if it doesn't feel right, then don't do it.

I have to say, the Top555 car looks nicer in the photos. Buy on condition - I don't think the difference in mileage between 6k and 12k is significant.

It's still 50% less though ! would expect the Top55 car to be less as the spec looks the same .Wheel bolts perhaps people do not pay attention when drying the wheels off easy enough fix . The head rest is down to wearing a cap the buckle rubs on it .

I am now going to see both the Top 555 and the J 17 cars. Director of Top 555 cannot understand why the J 17 car hasn't sold and has cast a doubt over condition, well if I see both cars I can make up my own mind. What I do know is Top 555 are far better to deal with even with limited interactions and they know their beans. J 17 on the other hand seem a bit lower rent. Anyway, I will know more on Friday.

Can I ask a question on A/C, personally I am not fussed, but does it impact the value of the car if it doesn't have it, as one poster said above they think it might not have A/C, will this impact the value that much? Its 17Kg lighter!

Will report back...

I have had 3 Spyders since 2011 all 3 with air con that I personally never used once as I only drive topless[8D]

For me it wouldn't be a deal breaker but for anyone using the car as it wasn't intended to be used with the tent on I would say in the 21st century air con is a must have option as even the most basic of basic hatchbacks have air con these days often as standard kit[&:]

Regarding the additional weight doesn't make an iota of difference to the driving pleasure a Spyder delivers and the weight nonsense is all a meaningless marketing ploy otherwise Spyders wouldn't have had electric windows and central locking which my 89 Speedster never came with to save "weight":ROFLMAO: according to Porsche marketing 1988/89

Difficult to call, I bought mine in March and would only buy with air con, after sitting in a sunny and blisteringly hot Le Mans traffic jam for nearly 2 hours in a convertible car with no a/c I vowed never again. Having said that I have never used it on my car as I always drive with the soft top in its rightful place....the boot.

There was another 1 owner low mileage car around early in the year without a/c and it hung around for a while.

There will be more cars coming to the market over the next few months so if you think this or other missing bits are important to you then wait, don't feel you need to buy now, it's not exactly the right weather at the moment anyway, though I did pop out last weekend for a blast [:)]

I have to say that IMO the PSE and Sport/Chrono would have a far bigger impact to ease and price of resale on a 987 Spyder,as Daro911 says he has owned 3 spyders all with AC and never used it once.I took the roof off mine in April and only just put it back on last week as mine is garaged and is a fair weather drive and certainly not a winter user so AC would be completely pointless! I can appreciate that some people may like to have it but the important 3 are Spyder wheels,Carbon buckets and of course the short shift manual IMO.Spyders were born to be roofless[8D]
