Excellent. Very warm after the initial chill. Really Busy and several '00 PCGB porsches. Huge range of vehicles of all ages. Well worth a visit next time. Only saw one white 987 Spyder and briefly one black 981 Spyder though. Saw lots of people looking at mine. A few photos on twitter @babyspyder16
Brilliant - It's now on my bucket list for next years scrambles looks like a great venue and nice drive out too

Yes Rob but what happens if it rains that day ? certainly not Spyder weather up here 2 days constant rain and more to come..
IF i’m lucky enough to get allocated a 718 Spyder I intend to use it all year round (bar in the snow🙈).

Is that a practical proposition? Are 981 Spyders watertight in the rain? Would welcome comments from current 981 Spyder owners.

Iansr

Fortunate to have the 987 and the 981 and both are wind and watertight ,the 987 is bit a noisier around the 70+ mark .As you specifically asked about the 981 it is a usable all year round car never had any water ingress and unlike one other on here [8D]:ROFLMAO: mine has been out in thunderstorms ,the negative on the roof design is your cannot get into the trunk to retrieve or put things in without removing the buttress clips a faff whereas on the 987 it is easy to get in no clips to undo a simple procedure . I would assume the 718 will be the same roof design/ procedure as on the 981

Thanks for that. Now I just need to get an allocation . . . . 🤪

I’ve no idea what that emoticon is meant to signify but it seemed to fit the bill.

It was meant as a tongue in cheek remark to Robert our founder Spyder owner ak DARO 911 whose car never sees rain

Brian its a hard record to keep up but 3 Spyders since 2011 and so far so good despite missing out on several car shows turning up in the daily driver instead :ROFLMAO:

You really can't blame DARO 911 for staying dry. His PTS is so beautiful and you do really need a dry road and the top down to appreciate the soundtrack, especially with Sports Plus and PSE on. [:D]

IANSR: Personally, I don't think a Spyder should be a daily driver - i'd lose some of that special feeling I get every time i take it out if using it more often although I have still done nearly 2000 miles in 5 months. If you want to be in the rain - get something else.

Its don't think its the Daros Spyder that does not want to see the rain, I reckon he doesn't want to spoil his Barnet:ROFLMAO:
i currently have a 981 Boxster GTS that i drive just about every day, 12 months a year; doesn’t spoil my enjoyment one jot 😀

Is DARO’s Miami Blue? That would be def be on my shortlist . . .

You are 50% correct but I did say Spyder misses the event and daily driver is used and abused on those occasions instead :ROFLMAO:

Getting the garage queen all nice and filthy doesn't do it for me but each to their own

Another cracking day so off to play with the Spyder later today [8D] won't be many more days like this in 2018

No more rain for my Spyder as it was tucked up for the winter months today. Probably won’t see daylight until April [:(]..... Lets see what the 981 GTS Cayman can do then in the mean time. [8D]

it's only rain !

And they are only cars, seems a shame to not use them.

we took a 65 RHD one of 5 cars to Luft in the down poors and cars there were 1 million £££ every one turned up.

I take the same view. The great thing about Porsches is that you can use them to do your shopping as well as setting off for the day for a nice drive. I personally don’t see the point of spending a lot of money on a car because I like driving it and then not driving it as often as I can. However, each to his own . . .

+1. Our most enjoyable drives EVER are in Dec/Jan/Feb, blue sky, sun out, roof off, heater on full, roads quiet, just epic. Car might get a splash on her underside but who cares. . . ? Tucking these cars up for 5 months a year is totally crazy in my humble opinion...However, each to his own . . .
