Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Plus one for your posts above. For many years we have attended the Christmas bash at Club HQ.

This would be the first week in December. Providing it was no wet we always drive down and back with the hood down.

An exhilarating cross country Drive, Cambridge to Moreton in Marsh covering some 200 miles plus. We loved it[:D]

Was about to ask the same question..it started a few days ago very confusing Admin can it be deleted ? or does the originator of the RE post need to do ?

We had the same issue on the GT4 "De ja vu" thread apparently caused by a poster who inadvertently changed the title when posting - rather odd 'feature' of forum software. Anyway after a few attempts to get someone to look at it, it was fixed by the Forum hosting company.

Suggest you email George in the office and request a fix.

Thank you for sorting it out ...I take it you mean if it happens again contact George.

No I'm afraid not, I sorted it out for the GT4 thread and just happened to notice this one had been similarly afflicted.

The issue on this thread will not go away until it is fixed, so someone needs to contact George, perhaps one of the regular posters or OP?

Sorry misread your post ...will do on Monday ..I think this started when a new poster IANSR joined in our group, perhaps if he looks back at his posts and checks if he posted RE ,he could delete it .Not saying he is responsible its only a thought .

Not Spyder weather up here! has been raining now for 2 days constant

[/quote] 25' AGAIN! today so thats a record breaking October temperature twice in same week but sadly tomorrow we are getting a reality check 15' and very wet windy typical October weather finally arrives []

Used the Spyder for what may sadly be the last really hot sunny day in 2018 [8D] even had a guy in a 458 ask me what engine / exhaust system did I have as he has never heard such a great sound track from a Porsche before :ROFLMAO:

None that I can think of, being a very satisfied owner.

Might be worth checking the fabric roof for slight tears at the rear top corners (see some of my earlier posts).

- not totally clear what the casue is, but it is relatively common. Porsche have a repair kit if it is found as, before this, the repair actually meant fitting a new fabric roof. Just remember that you NEVER lift the rear lid until you have disconnected the two push-in pegs at the far ends of the fins.

Talking about roof tears I received the following from Boxster7 today and seems like a simple fix has been sorted

Last week I had the new fix done on my Spyder roof.

Here are the pictures of the roof fraying.

I’m not sure how serious this would have become, but they sorted a fix.

So this is the small piece of repair patch Porsche Stuttgart came up with.

A local trimmer was used by the OPC to attach it.

Looks neat from the top view.

A bit hand stitched from below.......

The patch is pre holed, but the trimmers didn’t feel the need to use them !

I’m reasonably happy with this fix.

I’m not sure a full re roof is a good idea if not really necessary, as that’s a big job...

If you would like to post these on the PCGB forum that would be cool....

I know owners had been talking about this issue.

Will it debut next month at LA Motor Show like the original did back in 2009

Looking back, it seems the Spyder was the only new model announced at LA in 2009. This time they have the 992 and the GTS Panameras to show. 981 Spyder and current Carerra t have similar BHP. Comparing a (NA-F6) 718 Spyder and F4 Turbo 992 Carrera would seem bad marketing timing. Next year more likely perhaps. #Time Will Tell.

i hope I’m wrong but my guess is also that it will be the 992 that is announced at the LA show and we will have to wait until Geneva for the Spyder 😩

My car is 3 years old next month; had a warranty renewal letter £660 for a year.

anyone made a decision to renew / not to renew?

Mine is 3 years old in March and at the moment I'm thinking of not extending the warranty. I only use it for 6 months a year (around 4k miles including a European road trip) so £660 for 6 months use seems bit expensive. Haven't made a final decision yet though.

Hi Andrew when did Porsche reduce the extra warranty down to £660 seems a bargain compared to the historical 4 figure past price [8|]

Hi Robert, recvd my letter dated 2/10; 2 year renewal 1190 1 year 660.

I was thinking of renewing because of delay with new model, possible roof issues (although now appears to be a fix).

perhaps it’s based on my low mileage and not getting wet, in which case yours will be cheaper still :ROFLMAO:
