The cost quoted does not include Porsche assist and 111 point check so look for 2 years costing around £1761 if their menu price is correct .Mine is due in April and not sure if I will renew as the car has only covered 4.500 to date and will stay that way till April 2019 .Will wait to see the availability of the 718 before I decide .Andrew Killington said:Hi Robert, recvd my letter dated 2/10; 2 year renewal 1190 1 year 660.daro911 said:Hi Andrew when did Porsche reduce the extra warranty down to £660 seems a bargain compared to the historical 4 figure past price [8|]Andrew Killington said:My car is 3 years old next month; had a warranty renewal letter £660 for a year.
anyone made a decision to renew / not to renew?
I was thinking of renewing because of delay with new model, possible roof issues (although now appears to be a fix).
perhaps it’s based on my low mileage and not getting wet, in which case yours will be cheaper still

I've also had the letter......
Currently I'm thinking no, as £1700 does give you a bit in reserve.
The gearbox issue with the GT4 is my only real concern, but haven't yet heard any Spyder horror stories.
Plus I believe the early cars (2015) may not have this potential issue anyway.
My car is currently on 17K, although after the arrival of a 987BS gen2 the Spyder has done less miles this year.

your calculations are spot on B. Had my 987 spyder in today. MOT, 111 point check, 2 year warranty, assist.
passed perfectly with no advisories etc all, cost me £1731 including Vat.
Asked the general manager about me getting a new 718 spyder next year. Looked at me sympathetically and explained the gt3/gt4/spyder will be allocated on a points basis and I don’t meet the criteria. If they have any excess stock which is unlikely will keep me in mind!
Bought a new cayman from them, traded it in for the spyder when it was new. All work/servicing carried out by them even new tyres etc. All warranties from them too. Can’t say I am too impressed with this allocation process by porsche uk.

Brexit & Corbyn waiting in the wings - I think you may see 718 Spyders / GT4's struggling to find buyers and I would add I personally know 3 981 Spyder owners who never had a LOI and came by their cars from 3 dealers none of them had ever bought a car from previouslyspyder31 said:Asked the general manager about me getting a new 718 spyder next year. So once the cars have launched if you find your dealer is still playing hard ball email your Porsche CV to every other Porsche Centre and stand back to see who bites
That's exactly how 3 people I know ended up as 981 Spyder owners plus I know a further 2 who for various reasons declined their chances of buying despite neither having an order in before launch
That’s very interesting! Presumably they did that in the period between launch and the cars actually becoming available?daro911 said:Brexit & Corbyn waiting in the wings - I think you may see 718 Spyders / GT4's struggling to find buyers and I would add I personally know 3 981 Spyder owners who never had a LOI and came by their cars from 3 dealers none of them had ever bought a car from previouslyspyder31 said:Asked the general manager about me getting a new 718 spyder next year. Thanks Daro good advice.
Brexit Corbyn and if it’s a turbo they may have trouble giving them away.
now that you mention it i received a voicemail from them when the gt4 was released offering me one. Was working away from home and by time called them back had missed the opportunity. Wasn’t fussed at the time as was happy with my spyder.....little did I know the prices would rocket on them. Could have been a nice little investment. hindsight is a wonder thing!

In the current edition of Autocar there is a review from the passenger seat of a 992. In the article they confirm it will be launched at the LA show. So unlikely the Spyder will be launched at the same time. I find it surprising they have allowed the Spyder to be seen virtually without camouflage so far in advance of the launch.
Maybe the fact its more or less the same physical differences inside & out between a 981 v 718 with the Spyder exclusive design cues cut & pasted over there isn't any need for camouflage at alliansr said:In the current edition of Autocar there is a review from the passenger seat of a 992. The only camouflaged components are the ones that can't be seen anyway - the oily bits and gearbox choices
I now recall I did read a longtime back the launch is Geneva 2019 which makes sense with 992 making LA

Pic of my 987 spyder bought in March after a recent autumn (spring) clean
Not sure how to get pic to upload without the above??
This Cayman "T" seems to be running similar exhaust set up to the 718 GT4 & Spyder scoops
Hope this doesn't signal F4 Turbo power for either of those 2 models [&:]

Have to agree.GregorF said:Seems a shame. The original Spyder price was just a little more than the Boxster S. Now it's heading to full GT car money. Especially if it gets a 4.0. Puts it out of reach of most average buyers.
