Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Overall as usual from Porsche a step on but on the minus side is the step up in list price which no longer includes buckets and imo a massive chunk of character removed by the new very muted sound track so much so that when I got back into my daily driver Mini JCW and headed for home the first thing that struck me was how "loud" my Mini sounded and I have never considered the standard factory exhaust on that car to be anything but a nice muted background tone
eek.gif
Interesting point of reference on the exhaust - I’ve also had a Mini JCW since last September and I agree that it’s far from loud inside the car.

So you can imagine what a disappointment it was to find the "Porsche GT" department have managed to dumb down this new 4.0L engine and at the same time have drained a lot of the 981 3.8L character & theatre in one foul swoop []

10 year celebrations

Not sure if this one is going to be ignored but I couldnt help feeling that maybe there should be some sort of Spyder meet this year

(all 3 generations welcome of course) as far as I can tell the 987.2 Spyder was first available in the UK in 2010!

Any thoughts ?

Certainly not a bad idea but where to meet up ? As far as some off the Scottish owners are concerned a lot will depend on location .At the Silverstone Classic show some years ago we had a Spyder display on the Boxster area and had from memory 7 cars around for the 3 days. If it was just for a meet not sure a lot would drive X miles just for that ,but say a weekend away may appeal to those who had to travel a distance .Suggestions would be welcome for any meet up , and will need to be sunny days for some to bring their cars out ...not naming any one:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Great suggestion - the location will be a challenge, needs to be somewhere central I would suggest to stand the best chance of maximising attendance.

Maybe too early in the year but any Spyders attending the Das Feuer meet?

High spec, but who could have imagined Boxsters at £104k?!!

Not on the approved used site as with several others so I suggest that OPCs realise they are treading a very fine line by effectively restricting orders from the general public whilst selling brand new cars above list.

Sat or Sunday at Silverstone sounds a good shout

Does all depend on getting a spot together I guess

Might be worth starting a new stand alone thread otherwise I think this will get lost on here

A few months ago I bought a 981 Spyder with 12k miles: and to think, if I’d only waited, for just another £40k (or more) I could have had a 718 Spyder 🤣

Still think Sunday at Brands Hatch is good as it is a stand alone Porsche event , might have more chance there .

Hi Kenny

Yes Brands sounds good may have more chance

I have started a separate thread think the 10 year celebration one will get lost on here

Lucky you ! you now have the better Spyder (apart from the 987 ):ROFLMAO: and £40K in the bank what's not to like .

Absolutely! The exhaust sound on the 981 makes the 718 sound pathetic. We‘ll agree to differ on the 987 though - I’ve seen a video of the palaver involved in putting the roof on and off. i couldn‘t tolerate that . . .
