Cayenne S Diesel

A friend of mine who has a new RR had a drive of mine this week and absolutely loved it, I'm thinking his RR days are numbered!
IMHO the RR is very bland inside and a bit 'old man'ish' I understand it's fantastic off road but in all honesty who is going to go green laning in a £80k + car.
So glad I cancelled my RR order and went for the Cayenne[]

Alex, can you provide a photo from the front showing the stainless steel apron please? I wonder what it looks like, my Cayenne is white and if I changed I'd keep a very similar spec to what I have. Maybe the odd change or improvement. The configurator is ok but real photos are better.
Cheers,
Mike.

I called yesterday to try and rearrange another test drive, one week after the 2nd attempted test drive. Only to be told they have had to cancel more test drives due to the chief exec still having the car and they can't get a hold of him.
This isn't the best of starts to the new owners of my local OPC. It's all rather Tardy.......

Car is certainly getting faster each time I drive it. Apparently it really loosens up around 5000 miles. Probably when the elusive 34mpg kicks in!

Review most aligned with my findings thus far...

I've now done 900 miles in mine, did a round trip to Weymouth this week and got 34.7 mpg ove 85 miles! I wasn't really going slow either, just keeping up with th flow + a few overtakes.

Calculator has now been switched on, the sums are ongoing....[]
Obviously not very aerodynamic as the mpg drops off very quickly over 70...
Dynamic cruise control set at 80 mph sees about 32 mpg (as tested on the French autoroutes this week).
Could probably get higher if I turned off aircon, heated seats, stopped charging multiple apple devices, and wasn't wearing all season snow and mud tyres...
Hopefully by 5000 miles this will improve further either way...
Did about 700 miles round trip and averaged 32mpg.
I thought my old Audi RS6 was the best all round family-sports car in the world, but despite being 200hp down, the Cayenne S Diesel is even better!

Glad to hear you are enjoying the car. How is the handling?
Did you get the wind seals sorted by your dealer?
Cheers

Wind noise was fixed by a new window seal.
Handling is surprisingly good. I did tick all the handling upgrade options though - air suspension in particular is a must have for a Cayenne in my opinion.

Glad you got it all sorted and are enjoying it. My last day to day car was a 3.0 Merc E class diesel coupe. I averaged around 36 mpg with lots of long runs so if you are getting plus 30 and getting better out of the V8 Cayenne that sounds pretty good.
Looking forward to getting mine in late May. Will keep you posted.
I was told by the dealer that it's unlikey Porsche will offer the 4.2 Diesel post the 2014 facelift. More likely to be a twin turbo V6. If that's true the Diesel S will be a rare car.
Cheers
Mike

Low mileage Cayenne Diesel S's are available immediatly from the usual suspects at a hefty premium, good spec cars are £85-87k!
So I could make £10k if I sold mine right now?
...still not worth it as it's too awesome! []
