Yes. And that's a cost cutting spec to just must haves! I've seen Cayennes with £50k worth of options.

Porsche certainly know how to make money - having a relatively low starting price is just a way of luring you in!

I spec'ed a new 991 Carrera S when they first came out and it came to £115k with options - which is simply insane for just a Carrera!!
 
That is insane!! I know they were like that but not to that degree. Assume all cars come with full list of extras with sale?
 
Has anyone had any issues with the fuel tank sender on their new Cayenne? Apparently it shows a higher level of fuel than is really in the tank and Porsche have issued a stop sale on new models on some new cars. I'm meant to pick up mine on Tuesday and I'm waiting to hear whether the car needs the fix and if so it will be done in time.
Still I can't wait to pick up the V8 [:)][:)]
 
Well I've had it confirmed that my new Cayenne won't need the re-call and I will still be picking it up on Tuesday. [:)]
 
It's home and I'm really happy with my choices, a good margin better than the previous V6 Diesel I had. Didn't really give it too much of the right foot today, just cruised up the road from Edinburgh [;)] That will come in the future....
 
Well done Mike, you won't regret it. The Diesel S is an amazing car. I cannot get over how it goes and corners. You will love it!

Averaged 31mpg to date as well which is not bad, only done 1300 miles though.
 
Thanks Mike, it is a great motor. I've got nearly 400 miles done now and I'm still taking it easy(ish). I'm getting a wee bit more mpg than that but I'm sure once I've run it in a little more that will drop to a more respectable figure [:D]

You guys must do a lot of in gear coasting to be getting these MPG figures.

I am still on 26.4 after 5000 miles!

I tried some in gear coasting on my regular journey home from work yesterday. I normally average 29 mpg for the 30 min journey. I managed to get it up to 34 mpg by repeatedly squeezing the throttle then lifting off. Not much 'fun' though.
 
You should get it looked at Alex. I get that 31 average number despite driving quite a bit in Central London and cruising at 85+, plus brisk driving on country roads. Not even thinking about coasting, what's that?! If I drive it slowly, eg. 60 on an A road or dual carriageway I am getting high 30's.

Unless you are stuck in town most of the time 26 sounds way too low. Mine is not even run in yet at 1200 miles
 
Alex, I wouldn't say I'm coasting at all. I'm definitely pressing the throttle more delicately than I did in the V6 but I still keep ahead of the flow of traffic in most situations. Mind you where I live the traffic can consist of John Deere and New Holland quite a bit....
I have noticed if I come out of say a roundabout and mash the throttle to the bulkhead the mpg takes a bit hit. I don't do much in the way of city driving either, but once I get home I'll start putting more miles on it and I'll report back and see who has the softest right foot amongst us. Lets hope it isn't me [;)]
 
I'm a new member and this is my first post so go easy on me. I'm retired and drive a Range Rover Westminster and have been looking for my next car.

I was going to place an order for a new Range Rover Sport with an expected delivery next April, until I discovered the Porsche Cayenne S Diesel.

On paper it has everything I want in a vehicle and am thinking of placing a deposit on one for delivery next April/May. Both seem to be very popular choices judging by the long delivery times and the prices are close after adding my choices of options.

So in order to finally make up my mind and commit to a Cayenne S Diesel what are the good and bad points (even small things that annoy or you praise after a few months ownership).

Looking forward to your replies.

The Cayenne is due to be 'face-lifted' in May 2014, so make sure you get the new model, as it will likely include quite a few improvements to keep it at the top of a competitive class.
 
Thanks for that oliver, will speak to the dealers tomorrow and see what they say about confirming an order for the new face-lifted model next May.
 
Would suggest you take a look at Car magazine July. There is a test between the new Range Rover Sport and the Cayenne Diesel S plus the X5

"The Range Rover wilts in its presence, No question about it. I'd buy the Porsche"

Well worth a read.
 
Yes Mike, the Cayenne does beat the Sport with its superior performance which is to be expected considering the different engine sizes. An ideal car if getting from A to B first is a priority, which in my case is not so important.

I'm beginning to think a Cayenne is not the car for me attractive as the performance is, I think I'll wait a bit longer before changing the Range Rover Westminster for something better not just faster.
 
John, wouldn't a Cayenne Diesel suffice instead if performance isn't such a priority for you? I was more than happy with my Cayenne Diesel but was amazed with the Diesel S and as I have the breaking strain of wet toilet paper..... Well the rest is history.
I'm sure that would still be better than a RR.
