Cayman GT4: Where are we up to now?

Not really 390, I know the tuner. More like 370, but still a lot for a consumer grade engine with no internal mods, just intake and exhaust.

BHp is prob some where in between if it has a No cats race system on it.

It does sound quite fruity on full chat - but quiet in the pits - so I'm guessing it has valves or flaps in there somewhere.

Great to see a lot of GT4s at the Club's Anglesey track day on Saturday getting the use they deserve.

Yellow was definitely the favoured colour, but three turned up in different shades of green.

I'd love to have a play with the Parr Gt4 Clubsport just to see what it's like ... are there any others that are available for day use ?

Just to return to a couple of topics covered here previously: the Clubsport pack and PCCBs.

Last Saturday at the Club's Anglesey track day ChrisW very kindly gave me a ride in his so equipped GT4 for some very quick laps. Mightily impressive..! I have to say that I was somewhat sceptical about the bucket seat/half-cage/5-point harness combination, but having experienced it myself I can now understand the advantages of this option if you're a serious track day enthusiast. I'm not saying that I would specify this rather expensive option myself, but can respect those that have taken this route themselves.

As for the PCCB's - awesome stopping power as I experienced myself recently when driving a McLaren 570S at Millbrook on the mile straight there. Zero to ~175mph in about 3/4 mile and back down to about 60mph in the last quarter mile without panic braking effort. Really impressive..! After my ride with Chris I got a run out in a 991 GT3 fitted with the standard cast iron brake discs which was equally impressive on braking, although I have to say that the driver wasn't quite so "on it" as Chris.

As always it's a personal choice and great that these options are available if you have the means to spec them.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff,

I have to say that I really enjoy giving passenger rides. From a racing perspective I'm really not on the pace, but given that the GT4 is a road car and I have never left the track unvoluntarily with a passenger on board --- it's plenty fast enough.

From the passenger point of view, I'd like to think that it adds a little perspective to how well these cars will keep an enthusiast driver out of trouble. It's all about fun :)

Oh dear..!

Hope no-one here is expecting delivery of their car soon. Apparently they were for European delivery - we're still in the EU at the moment aren't we...??

Here's an unusual video link:

I quite like the bit where the disguised MB joins the party..!

GT4 ring lap 7.29 with toe links, some camber and no PASM shocks.

..and a few laps at Thunderhill in California, a tad warmer than over here...

Just a tad warmer Ralph! No doubt that's why he's wearing shorts and a short sleeve T-shirt - obviously it's permitted for the US track days.

There was a Cayman race car at Donington on Sunday, raced by a Scottish guy Lance Gauld and his son Alasdair. Its built from a gen.2 with PDK gearbox but non-Porsche suspension and a centre-locks conversion.

Very impressive times - a best of 1:43.747 on the GP circuit - quite a bit better than the single session I got in the GT4 - the full story of which is here:

A good selection of GT4s and a CS at the Beaulieu Simply Porsche event. Great weather and a superb gathering of just under 1000 Porsche.

Very nice pics. There were nine of them at Donington Circuit yesterday....being used for what they were made for. [;)]

First video link from one of the owners (Jack in the silver one):

If anyone wants a closer look at both the PROsport Performance and Porsche-built Cayman GT4 race cars, they're guesting in the next round of British GT which is at Silverstone this coming weekend (11/12th June). 51 cars in total - more than we managed for the 24 this year!
