Cayman GT4: Where are we up to now?

For those of you with a penchant for yellow GT4s:

Have all UK GT4s been delivered now or are there still some to come before shutdown of the Osnabruck production line?

Jeff

Thanks chaps.

I've just read elsewhere that the line will close mid-August, so there's still time for a few cars to make it to the UK.

Enjoy your new car Mathew - post a few pics if you can. Impressions? What spec did you go for?

If anyone wants a closer look at both the PROsport Performance and Porsche-built Cayman GT4 race cars, they're guesting in the next round of British GT which is at Silverstone this coming weekend (11/12th June). 51 cars in total - more than we managed for the 24 this year!

I am waiting to see what the CS GT4 upgrade kit is

passive shocks !

Carbon items to save weight !

and a ECU data pack !

keep us posted if you get any info

I did not have the G meter or the shift zone thing.

now this was NOT listed as a sports crono option so I did Not spec sports crono on my GT4 as it was just listed as a lap time thing for £1200 ! And this time on the GT4 SC did Nothing as you have the extra buttons for sports etc.

Unhappy with not having a G meter toy to play with, I had both options coded into my GT4 on Friday :). Now I have all the gadgets #happygt4owner and 1.2g on the way home lol

Well, the biggest issue is weight. At the least I'm expecting carbon doors and plexi windows all round (apart from the front). Perhaps carbon frunk and rear boot covers too.

Incidentally, my team is running a GT4 CS in the Creventic 24 Hour race at Paul Ricard weekend after next. Sadly I'm not one of the drivers!

So who coded all this for you? I'd like to get mine done too

Thanks Ian

OPC, imo all cars should have both options as standard and it's a coding fault From the factory.

Hey guys I have some great info regarding tuning and the stages now available from Germany.

if any one still has a GT4 that is !

Jens does 4 stages now and has plots and tunes for all 4 depending how far you want to go. stock car is 385 PS and 420NM torque.

stage 1 is just a tune: 405 PS and 435NM torque

stage 2 is tune and TB: 415ps and 440 NM torque

stage 3 is tune, TB and 200 cell hiflow manafolds: 425PS and 450NM torque

stage 4 is track manifold with no cats: 435 ps and 460NM torque

I am either going to sell mine for a GT3 or take the jump for stage 2 tune and TB, the TB really cleans up the torque dip at 5K so while on paper it looks a small gain, on the road I think the gain at 5k will be very noticeable.

Interesting....well done for hunting that lot out D. Even the Stage 1 tune gives useful power and torque increases (pllus better throttle response?).

Prices?

What throttle body is he using?

Jeff

just the GT3 one.

the oem plots on this 3.8 are really poor, no point going above 6.5k revs ! then massive dips along the way.

they have really ruined the car with the detune of the engine ! but I guess performance was just too much with >400BHp vs the 911's

1.36 corner G in the GT4 on the road ;-) winner !!!!

you won't get that on a oem geo tee hee

I take it that you're now walking around with a sack of potatoes hanging round your neck to strengthen those neck muscles..!

Is it possible that heat management is the reason for throttling the standard installation ?

Or pure marketing ?

I'm going to stick with the GT4 and would also consider option 2 ... I might even get more MPG !

My 981S with PDK and Ehresmann installed 3.8L with 412hp and 420Nm with IPD plenum and 200 cell headers got 34 mpg on the run up from Devon to Silverstone yesterday but only 11 mpg on track days. Done >14,000 miles with 3.8L since last April no CELs or any other problems.

GT4 power is marketing, need to have Gen 2 upgrade of course as we would if we were product planners, and no-one wants a turbo and GT3 engines would take cost beyond present 'bargain' pricing.

Manthey Racing launched the "homologation" pack at Spa yesterday. Not sure how many teams will be willing to fork out another €25k given the 3.4 litre engine derived cars are giving them a spanking in almost everything they've so far run in.
