Cayman GT4: Where are we up to now?

But my point is that it's not fundamentally different from a well specced 981 S or GTS, so you can get 90-95% of the GT4 for half the price.

GT3s have a substantially different (and more 'special') engine and chassis than regular 911s, and even more so now they've gone turbo. And they're not twice the price.

I suppose if you don't consider suspension, brakes, aero, downforce, adjustability, gear box and chassis ... then it is kinda similar :ROFLMAO:

I think you need to watch this Interview with the Head of GT Porsche ....

Adjustability on the GT4 is limited and the gearbox is almost the same as the S/GTS I believe. Aero is only a front splitter and a rear spoiler.

Yes the GT4 is a great car but as AP says, it's an "entry level" GT car. For £65k new compromises had to be made.

i think your missing the whole point of the Mid engined GT4 and its pure driving capabilities and doubt you own a GT4 - so in truth your purely guessing ?! But each to their own ... I Paid £80k for mine and doubt in 10 years time it will be worth much less than that and for sure will have retained its place in Porsche cult history!

Each to their own as they say, and you've had doubts about the GT4 yourself if I remember your forum posts correctly [;)]

Your correct ... initially i was suspicious but after a thousand miles or so under your belt your really appreciate how great a car it is ... It really does get better with every 100 miles and loosens up to a different level of feel, noise, poise and performance ... Just take it over a banking crest with reverse camber at speed to appreciate its incredible capabilities ... No other car can compare under £140k - you would need Ferrari 458 to get better IMO

Moving on, can you share your suspension settings please

Hi Ralph ... Im not a Track Day user so don't profess to know what some will on here and just keep the car as normal and find it fine for my personal sunday morning twisting B road blasts ... It just flows so well in comparison to my 997 GTS the GT4 seams to almost propel you out of a corner ... Incredible!

How much of that is GT4 and how much is mid-engine versus rear-engine though?

Just to be clear I'm not trying to pick on you or start an argument in any way, I'm just discussing "stuff" on a discussion forum! [:D]

TwinFan ... I think your just looking for an argument personally and don't wish to get embroiled in a futile "tit for tat" debate ... i think instead i will just got for a Blast in one of the best Porsches ever made ... and think myself a very lucky boy [:)]

I can assure you I'm not, I'm just expressing an opinion/inviting discussion.
You do seem to post a lot of critical threads about the GT4. But you never owned one?

Nope, not my thing as I don't do track days.

You don't have to own something to express an opinion on it [;)]

I have owned both GTS and was fortunate to get a GT4. To be honest to drive there is no comparison, I thought the GTS was a very good car until I had the GT4 and it drives so different, more connected in everyway from the turn in, suspension, brakes, steering feel. The quoted figures don't really do it justice, all I would say is go and drive one.

It is also keeping the used GTS prices high imho.

Quite a few people are cashing in now it seems. The number at OPC' has doubled recently and the average offer price is back in the 90's following a dip before Christmas. One is a 3 owner car with just over 1000 miles! Think I will wait a bit longer.

I owned one from new for 1600miles.

Total disappointment, don't know what all the fuss is about.

Have a 911 Turbo S now and its not much more money used.
