Cayman GT4: Where are we up to now?

ORIGINAL: ian harvey The seats certainly are an issue. They were the main topic of conversation for everyone by a long way. I could get in/out with no problem whatsoever but the whole unit is considerably too upright for me and i could not get comfortable. I couldn't position it to support my thighs and the small of my back is clear of the backrest as the upright position shifts you forward. I have no such issue with my current Recaro pole positions which are also fixed but there are numerous mechanical adjustments available. Tellingly I have them in the most reclined position available. The sports seats are beyond criticism, being 18-way adjustable they can be positioned perfectly and with the side supports nicely inflated they would offer decent support on-track.
You're not the only one Ian. In a previous post I mentioned a Swiss owner making the same complaints about the LWBs compared with the Recaro Pole Positions seats in a Boxster he'd owned previously. It seems as though the LWBs will continue to be a divisive issue going forward. As far as I know, the pedal heights aren't adjustable. Jeff

Word has it that MrD is now wavering towards Voodoo Blue. LWBs...Sport Seats...Yellow...Mexico Blue...Voodoo Blue..? Seat stitching..? Seat belts..? Decisions, Decisions..! Jeff

Indeed, as are the following additional items: * 12-o'clock marking on steering wheel in Yellow, code 887 Price £162.00 * Lightweight battery (lithium ion), code 192 Price £1538.00 Must admit I really liked the yellow stripe on the Geneva show cars and I was hoping it would make it into production, but £162 seems a little steep given what it is!

GT4 on track at Brands GP with Goldtrack yesterday http://www.fresh-orange.co.uk - Select Brand Hatch 23 June 2015, then scroll down to "white porche 2"

ORIGINAL: ian harvey Looks good. Left-hooker, did it go well, is the owner pleased with the car on-track?

Has Porsche's supplier finally run out of the 918 LWBs? Are we still going to get potential buyers agonising as to whether or not to spec the - even more expensive - buckets? At least the adjustable seat back should address complaints about the non-adjustable LWBs being uncomfortable on longer runs for some drivers. Jeff

mine is locked in with 918 style, it seems no more 918 style , but the gt2 style are fine, so people will just order those I guess. hoping mine will have the 918 style when it arrives, as that seat could be rare on a Gt4 so helps resale ;-) I have a date and a lock in and not been told I cannot have 918 style, but as you know mine was a very early spec on the system, only the CTS has put my build back to 17th OCT. There is NO adjustment on the GT2 bucket btw and it sits higher than the 918 seat, which is why I guess the 918 has height adjust.

How much did CTS slow your build date by in weeks What was your final CTS chosen Why are the GT2 style buckets f.o.c. on the Spyder but a whopping £2226 on the tack focussed car! Have the marketing people gone nuts supplying them for free on the cheaper version[&o]

So, the Sport Bucket Seats have backrest adjustment but no height adjustment: Lightweight racing seats with folding backrest, integrated thorax airbag and manual fore/aft adjustment. Seat shell made from glass-/carbon-fibre reinforced plastic with carbon-weave finish, seat in smooth-finish leather in interior colour. Note: child seats must not be used with the sports bucket seats. The standard or adaptive sport seats would seem to be an ideal compromise. Jeff

no bucket is adjustable, the folding bucket just folds to allow you to put stuff in the back of a GT3, in a Cayman it just folds to allow you to take pictures of the Carbon back lol. yes the new price seems a rip off esp when you look at having them in a GTS for £300 less !

5 weeks added, Mexcio Blue. getting cold feet on Mexcio Blue , I am told I can change it still just not at OPC level as I would loose my 918 seats if any changes are made to my spec, it would have to be a OPC call to the factory and I can change colour that way.

So, even less adjustability then? And at additional cost too..! It does seem like a total rip-off: a low base price with Porsche profits boosted by a few ridiculously expensive add-ons. Tell me something new. Are you heading back to yellow or has Voodoo blue caught your eye? Orange or green perhaps? Light grey? Can't decide? How about speccing a car where every panel is a different colour - like that VW Polo some years ago? Joking, of course, but I'm sure that you'll be happy with whatever you decide. And bear in mind that you can't see much of the outside of the car when you're inside driving the thing, which is the essential part. Jeff

As far as I can recall, all the pics I've seen to date have been LHD US and European GT4s. Like the PEC Silverstone, does the UK get its first cars in July? Jeff

Back to LWBs - again. This was posted on PH: The new folding bucket seats (P03) will only be available to customers with cars that will go to build before August and want bucket seats. They will be charged at £2,226. From August onward the original bucket seats (launch seats) will be available and cars specified with bucket seats will be built with the original bucket seats from August onward. They will be charged at £1,907. At that point there will be no delays for waiting for bucket seats. Jeff

Not too shaby Ralph. The slowest starter [that Lexus is super fast!] and 4th overall of the bunch, even beating the 918 Spyder. Jeff
