Cayman GT4: Where are we up to now?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see lots of GT4s at track days but I don't think we will ever see the type of track club that Chris was referring to, as illustrated by this pic from a Spa trip....

Most of the 964RS/964 track club members snapped up their cars when they were way below their list prices (and the over list prices they are today) so had no concerns about tracking them frequently. The world of Porsche has now moved on such that the most desirable cars (i.e. the GT4) are being targeted by those that are more interested in their value than how good they are to drive. Hence why I think we'll only see the odd car at track days (probably driven by the owners in this thread) rather than a gaggle of them.

It's a bit early to judge how many GT4s will see track use. They are very good on the road so fair enough if people chose not to track them. As for the track club that 'us lot' have so clearly enjoyed, I hope that it will continue for many years. In my time tagging along with you all, Chris W, Kev A, Oldtimer and Paul W have all changed cars but still 'belong'.

I think that next year will be the time to consider the proportion of GT4s on track, I think most will have at least the odd outing, hope they do - it's the only real way of finding out what they can really do.

I'll be there early --- I'm far too excited to sleep when it's play time :)

And maybe between us we can tempt a few more out to play ...

7.45 ish ??

I may not be there until mid morning, need to see how work pans out over the next week. I'm off to Paintshield next Wednesday for the to apply the Suntek film, will put another 200 miles on the car too :)

Are you going for the full frontal, plus some other areas perhaps ??

Just curious as I'll probably be going for it as well.

I'm going full front, full sill coverage, leading edge of the side air intakes and the splash guards behind the wheels

Now had confirmation that the car was built on Friday, so from all your dates it seems as though they are taking around 3 to 4 weeks delivery.

I now have my spare set of wheels at home, went for a black set as the car as platinum ones on it.

Steve - Have you made a decision yet on tyres for the new wheel set?

Good to hear that a number of you chaps will be getting your hands your cars very soon and look forward to hearing your initial impressions.

Good to see that someone has opted for (GT?) Silver Jeremy. Makes a change from Yellow.
