Cayman GT4: Where are we up to now?

I do a couple of trackdays a year so not full all out hardcore.

Buckets are not available and half bucket does not adjust up and down so the wife would have trouble so 17 way the only real option.

I like Red or White but thought the white shows all the accents of the bodykit better.

So i have ordered (At the Moment) White, Black Wheels, Sat Nav, Heated Seats, 17 way, Carbon Inlays. bout £75K.

Bit of a cop out but I plan to drive it without compromise comfort but maybe residual.

Thanks for your opinion and may still have Red yet or even Yellow.

Going to miss my 911 sad to see it go.

I thought all buckets were all back on the list, they are back on the config.

comfort seats will kill resale imo and look a bit naff inside a GT car.

lol I don't like matt black wheels either, gloss look ace but NOT an option, matt black always just look dirty.

don't forget full leather :)

I don't think you will miss the 911 when the GT4 arrives., it's just that long wait.

I would go carmine RED, not many have ordered that and imo it looks great. (was not an option when I got mine at the time)

Matthew,

Good to have another rear engine defector on here.

I have to agree with MrD - it's your car so have whatever you want and to hell with what others say. After all, it's just a personal preference and you're the one who has to live with the car. I like the Sapphire Blue myself, but it's not everyone's choice, and I'm not totally convinced that black wheels are the way to go when the standard platinum ones look so good.

From what people have said, the lightweight buckets can be a bit marmite comfort-wise so it's best to sample them or the folding buckets if you can. The standard or 18-way seats are probably the safest choice and I can't see them being a total deal breaker when it comes to resale given the limited number of cars around at the moment.

Don't forget to spec the (free) larger 64-litre fuel tank. Depending upon your budget, leather looks better than the standard plastic interior, auto climate control avoids you having to fiddle with the temperature control and from my personal experience the PDLS is excellent.

Something to look for to early in the new year.

Jeff

I have specced the Leather with red stitching.

Already have the side decal on order but not the bonnet and roof.

Has anyone got the painted inlays, like the look of them.

I can see this being a long wait at this rate especially for the salesman...

As you can see I am a fan of the decals

On track in Germany - certainly brave.

Some camber settings in comments.

Yes Ralph, the driver was certainly "on it" and in a bit of a rush to get going - why not pull on your gloves beforehand..? Perhaps he wanted to get moving while the track was quiet to get a clear run.

Gearing? A lot of 2nd and 3rd gear sections - the gearing didn't seem too bad to me, but then I'm not a wannabe racer. At least he managed to get into 5th gear twice..!

I thought the revs drop each change into a good torque rev range so if people are looking at it like a 3.4L it will seem gearing is long but if the issue is you can do 80mph in 2nd, not sure I see the problem from a drivability point of view.

it's the lower speeds B road corners in 2nd gear which is lacking punch.

you need to keep the car over 4.5k which I forget what that is in 2nd, still better than any GT3 which had longer gearing and you had to keep over 5.5k.

no one will know till the DVLA site is upto date in another 12 months 3 months after all cars have been built.

it ranges from 200 cars to 500.

Porsche org figures were 200, I saw the UK paper work press release, with 125 cars in the 1st batch and the rest in the 2nd.

we had big delays and also it was well over subscribed. no ave Joe or OPC's knows numbers now, every one is just guessing as extra cars filter though, there seem to be more than 200 cars though, be that 50 more or 200 time will tell.

great marketing by Porsche though to get 20 million pounds in deposits world wide 12 months before any one got cars.

same with the 991 GT3 135 UK cars ended up over 330 cars !!!

Dvla release their quarterly figures next week so we will know how many were registered by 30.09.2015 and come March 2016 figures will be up to 31.12.15 and perhaps will give a rough idea how numbers are going!

So if only a 125 cars have been built and registered in 6 months will porsche also struggle to supply another 125 in the next 6 months!

only time will tell but imo cannot see 500 cars maybe 300 perhaps!

The 18 way adjustable seats are very comfortable yet supportive whilst driving fast. I have ordered 918 seats but not a problem without. The carmine Red, like Ruby Red is an old mans colour with no Porsche heritage and is synonymous with GTS cars, which is why nobody has ordered it, plus £1.5k ... White, yellow or Guards would be the logical choice - The Yellow looks stunning, the Red Sporty and the White hides the curves but accentuates the Black air scoops and looks great with Decals but everyone has a white car now! ... Its a tough call, but i would also think about GT Silver with Black wheels, such an Iconic Porsche GT colour and not one thats been ordered much, so very rare IMO. Its a minefield picking a colour as the GT4 looks good in all colours but has no stand out Colour ... Be happy that your getting One as whatever colour and spec it is, its still a GT4 and the best car in the world as voted by EVO at ECOTY ... ;)

Welcome to the GT4 Club ...

Had a good drive on Friday 100 mile plus into Wales in nice dry and sunny conditions, as people have said the car goes fantastically well on the twisty bits, even with not revving the engine to much ( only 300 miles then ) it still goes well.

Couldn't believe the road holding and braking, great fun. Saturday on the way back was a total different story, it had been heavy rain over night, on to already very wet fields and hills coupled with raining hard at the time and areas of standing water made it very interesting, no aquaplaning but felt plenty of movement through the standing water, the actual wet road wasn't an issue although very easy to spin the wheels in second on the straight. What I found strange, after the middle bit of the drive, about 60 miles again in wet conditions and probably a lot less than the speed limit due to traffic, I put my hand on the rear tyres and they were stone cold, I know they are PZero's, but I thought there would have been a bit of temperature in them.

500 and so miles now, with an outing to Morton on Sunday, hope it's dryish.
