And if you don;t keep going fast enough, we'll all come up to your garage to "help"[8|] JW

It will be done in a trice, promise! Anything but another hillclimber in the garage! Honest! If I can get the Sach clutch this next week, the box can go back on and the whole gearbox painted. The lot can go into the chassis, the rear suspension is actually ready to go on too, all painted, and I have all the weird UNF bolts to fix everything on. Gulp; I hope that is enough to keep you lot all at bay![;)] So: if I get that all done (a morning to put it all back in tight) that leaves the brake lines, the oil lines and the electrics to do. I am sure there is another mega list over the page to do![] I actually hate working on my car with anyone else doing the same...[8|] Graham The Tired. ps; it's gonna look killa when done![8D]

See - nothing to it![:D] Must go out to my garage one day and see if the old white thing is still there...............[8|] Cheers! JW

Thought you might like to see it:

We do like to see it. Why have you left the delivery wrapping on the exhaust pipes? Are they so delicate that they'll scratch when you install it?

If you could see my MIG welding YOU would wrap them up too! That is partially the reason. The oil pipes sit really close to the headers and I want to keep as much heat out/away from them as possible. Saves painting them too!!

Gary: not even thinking about it yet, but hope to be late June. Brake lines oil lines electric fuel lines Webers to sort Suspension set up Trailer to buy A big bottle of courage to buy.[&:]

Only a few jobs then? [:D] How do you plan to shake it down? I guess the first pratice run at the hill wouldn't be the best time to find out in turns left on it's own at 100mph...[:D]

Just imagining 250 bhp in 550Kg is boggling enough...[8D] Hope to shake the car down mid week at a local sprint track close to me that you can hire for a 1/2 or full day. Gather a few hillclimb mates as a bit of support and off we go, Off as in speed not into the scenary! Just ried 5 times to buy a clutch, bloody electronic seurity systems![][] I will phone them tomorrow and simply order one.[8|] Bad day at the office today. A cold night in the garage will cool my temper (that is a micron long at best) I really want to hear this engine run. The silencers are a bit of a risky experiment. [:D]

Been busy in the Den over the cold nights. Interesting how paint reacts with temperature, or lack of it. Wrinkle black dries glossy, Satin black dries glossy, satin silver dries streaky silver, but satin.... guess what I've been doing. The gearbox took 2 hours to clean and get all the oil out of it, most of it out of control but have the box on the engine stand which is a dream. Looks like a suckling pig on a roasting spit. Sure is black (satingloss to be exact, new finish invented by me) Lots of gooodies arrived this week from early911 in the form of PMO manifolds (40mm right through) and inlet thermal spacers, plus the Sach Super Power clutch from the excellent type911 who have been great. Good Guys in my book. This all leads to the Engine In weekend coming up. Hope to con a good mate to help guide it all together to save chipping too much paint. Only frustrating thing is the custom oil feed pipe from the pump to the oil cooler. I can get it easy in the States, but a lot of faffing about with two UK 'Specialist Suppliers' of such things leaves me cold. Once last chance tomorrow, and if no good, straight to Elephant Racing and in the post, albeit a little expensively, but at least they seem to understand what I want! ( Custom hose, 30mm female 90 deg elbow in steel, -16 hose, 1000mm long and a -16 steel straight connection for the cooler. That isn't to bad surely?) Had a chat with Bob Watson about the engine, the carbs, and the suspension set-up. I was an early customer of Bob's in 1990 with my bitsa and he always exoooooded cool, calm and collected, but there was a hint of excitement about this silly Lola of mine. I look forward to some Bob Watson magic on his rolling road soon, as well as his flat pad for the suspension. I have demanded 240 bhp and 250 lbft! (he passed no comment....) He will plant the torque down deep to focus on low end grunt. Can't wait. Pics soon of the build-up if you are still watching this slow moving space. Graham the Excited

I used these guys at Silverstone a few (well quite a few actually) years back when I did a custom oil cooler install, good service, but certainly not the cheapest! I've used Think Automotive in Isleworth for ~ 25 years for all such items: [link=http://www.thinkauto.com/]http://www.thinkauto.com/[/link] Have you tried them ?

Yep! Singular lack of interest! Returned a few emails, left a voice message, no return of the call. Maybe what I want is of no interest to them (too little value?). The elbow I think is a Mocom part made in the USA and everyone gets them from there. Tried Coolcava too today who list the elephant part, but none in stock. Much easier simply to go to the States and get seved. [&:] The Sach aluminium cover that came off the engine is much lighter than the new one! Same part number but the pressure plate is much thicker.(and cast steel), but the original is crazed and warped, so a product improvement in the thicker plate I hope. Looking forward to piecing it all together. Everything sure is black!

Graham, have you tried Goodridge at Exeter Airport? If you draw a blank, I have the e-mail of one of the guys there. Cheers Jonathan

No, they are new to me. I thought I knew EVERY pipe fitting specialist in the UK.... going to track down Mocom in the USA too to see if they sell direct, but will check them out too Jonathan. ps: Seem Rob Harriman is not going to co-drive his Dad's Quattro in C2 so that is a welcomed relief. He has another Impreza to scare the Audi with in the Tin -Tops.
