New members welcome and photos

Just like to say hi to all.... Recently in my first Porsche, a 997.2 Turbo. Really enjoying it, even with the bad weather! Looking forward to meeting up with some of you all in 2013.

Hi Paul and welcome. An excellent choice of vehicle (aerokit looks great) if I might say but don't know about those centrelocks![;)] Have the calipers been painted black? PDK? I know it says "guest" under your username but have you joined the club?

Thanks Alan.... Pic has had minor edit by my niece who snapped it (a budding photography student)... Monochrome with just the red rear lights and blue on the wall picked out. Yes, she's PDK with paddles.... Centre locks a controversial choice of course with all the recent overhyped fuss over wheel departure[8|] but buying 2nd hand I didn't have a choice and decided it wasn't a deal breaker (and I quite like the novelty factor!). Have joined the club already - first log in this evening - first of many I expect!

Due to pick up my C2 GTS PDK in Speed Yellow in the morning - can't wait. Hav'nt driven a 911 since the '80's, and this is my first self-funded one ... assume they are still much the same (not!).

Congratulations Adam, A superb car - and my very favourite 997 (apart from my own that is!) Post up some more piccies and the spec. when you have more time. Speed Yellow definitely makes a statement and it's nice to have a variety of colours in the Register. 1980's eh? Well, the pedals hang down now, they don't come out of the floor any more [:D] and they've done away with one of them - but apart from that there's not much change at all, really. [8|] Enjoy the collection. Regards, Clive.

I really need to take you out in mine one day Clive, may change your tune! ;)

Hi All, Thought I would make my first post. On my second 997.2 911 now. Had a C2S PDK for three years and decided to upgrade to a 997.2 C4GTS PDK. Basalt Black, black center locking wheels and a full Carrera Aerokit. Picture attached. Amazing fun, with the increased 4 wheel drive traction in the bad weather. Regards, John

Welcome John and congratulations on your new motor. It looks very fine indeed with the aerokit.[8D] Be interested to hear how it compares with your previous C2S. You don't seem to be listed currently on my 997 Register members section, but if you'd care to email me on 997@porscheclubgb.com, I'd be happy to send you a welcoming pack and details of how you can obtain a prized Register windscreen badge, provided you'd like one, that is [8|]. Regards, Clive.

Thanks Clive. It certainly is a different driving experience to the C2S, more front end grip, less tendency to lift the nose under hard acceleration and feels a bit more secure on wet/icy roads. All related to the extra weight of the 4 wheel drive system in addition to the wider track. I loved my C2S dearly, but I think the 4 is a more usable vehicle everyday in the UK given the weather we suffer! I will drop you an email re the register as suggested. Another pic below. Regards, John

Just joined the Porsche Club and this forum as i collected my brand new Turbo S Cabriolet from Porsche East London this week (Dec'12 registered). Coming from having an R8 V10 i think i made a good choice and whilst the R8 V10 was a fantastic experience, i know the Porsche experience will be just as good or better :) See a pic attached. As ive also still got the R8 for a few more days before it goes back, I'm going to try and get some shots of the 2 cars together this weekend if weather holds out. Alan

I will bring her out on tour as soon as possible, but last year she saw some gentle action at Rockingham Raceway and I had some great laps at Brands Indy on a Parr Motorsport day. I was also lucky enough to drive about 25 laps round Donnington in a slightly more track focused model

I hope some of you 997 guys will get out to support Pete Smallwood in the Carrera Cup 2013 as he deserves all the support.

Hello all, Just a quick post to say hi and introduce myself as requested. I picked up my 2008 C2S last week and its fab. It's an early GenII model with the PDK gearbox and has a wonderful set of the Porsche loony brakes fitted. It's my first Porsche having traded up from several hot BMWs over the years. Finally I'm driving a decent car at last and I love it. One question I do have though is about the PCM. I've got what appears to be a PCM version 3.0 with Bluetooth for the iPhone and so on. But I don't have an iPod connector in the central console. Was this an option on early GenII models and can I get it retrofitted? Will post pictures as soon as I can. See you out and about... Stuart.

The Universal Audio Interface in the centre arm-rest was an option. It can be retro fitted on GEN II cars by your OPC, its in the Tequipment catalogue and it will be the same as the factory fit.

Hi Everyone, Although I've been a member for a year have only just got around to attending my first events! Looking forward to the St George Rally on Sunday!! G

Not sure John but I think my wife and I met you in the OPC in Hatfield on the day you went in to buy. I was in my SilvercC4S with GT aero. Funny if this is correct, I bought a key ring and a hat for £30' last of the big spenders and you bought a car. Congrats anyway, lovely car.
