New members welcome and photos

Hi I picked up my 2010 C2 last Saturday from Reading OPC, having traded in my old Cayman S, probably the best Christmas present ever! Loving it so far and getting used to having PDK for the first time. I'll start another post regarding retro fitting of sport mode and whether its worth doing. Just wanted to say hello! Dominique

Hi Dominique, Congratulations on your 997. Looking forward to seeing a photo and its spec. There are some really great events scheduled for 997 owners this year, so keep an eye on the forum [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=565751]http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=565751[/link] and Porsche Post calendars for further details. Regard, Clive (997 RS)

Hi all, New member here, a month into ownership and being a PCBG member! I'm in Region 5, as currently live in Manchester but originally from Yorkshire so will also keep an eye on events there, particularly the Yorkshire Porsche festival! The car is stunning, had a bit of an issue on Boxing Day when the oil level warning light came on. To cut a long story short, the OPC put too much oil in and had to be recovered to them. Was a bit disappointed with this and that they simply replaced with the old oil, but in conversation with the service manager about this.

Hi Andy Sorry to hear the OPC making a hash of what should be a simple job [&:] However great choice in the GTS[:)]

Hi all, Just a quick intro as a new member to the club, located in Cuffley, Herts. After many years of deliberation, I thought "what the hell you only live once" and took the plunge just before Xmas and purchased (from a well known idie) a really great condition, manual, 2004 Basalt Black 911 C2S. I have to commute to the City by train so she doesn't get used much during the week, and what with the recent weather still getting used to it to a certain extent. However, I'm returning my daughter in it to Manchester Uni this weekend, 200 miles each way, so looking forward to the trip - be great to do a long run in her, with a night at Manchester Hilton to break it up. Need to keep the speed down though, it's so eay to hit 90 without realising [:)] Looking forward to participating in some of the club run outs etc this year so that I can use her at weekends - I'm hoping to get on the R20 London run in March, I requested on the forum but the response is ominously quiet... Anyway, hope to meet some of you this year... -Matt

Welcome along Matt and congratulations on a most excellent Christmas present to oneself [;)] Some great routes on the outskirts of Manchester whilst your that way.. I'm sure Nick from R20 will reply in the London area, I looked at the London run as it's something I did years ago- really worth the effort. Plenty of stuff going on in the 997 register- although much is fully booked up at the moment! however I'm sure they'll be even more new events announced throughout the year.

And here is mine. I was fortunate enough to have a professional photographer capture me at the Silverstone Classic 2013....we had a very quick run for about half the track and then joined the procession...

I had had the car for just a couple of months, after waiting since I was knee high to a grasshopper dreaming of Porsche ownership. I have been along to one R21 (Chiltern) meeting and really enjoyed it, but work has conspired to keep me away since. Anyone know great routes in and around the Chiltern area for fun Sunday drives?

Rich, I guess 997 Turbos are now gone? Do you (or anyone else) know final production figures of Gen I 997 turbo and Gen II 997 turbo?

Nice motor! [:)] Why not join the Club and come along to one of the great 997 Register tours we have coming up this year. [;)] Regards, Clive.

Looking at previous posts (and profile page with membership number) I suspect he already is, Clive! I will amend the status![:)]

Thanks Alan. I've not had a new members update for 2 months from HQ so am a bit behind the times. [:(] Regards, Clive.

Hi to all on the 997 Forum. Just thought I'd introduced myself. I've only been a member of PCGB since Dec 13 and the is my first post! (So please be gentle) I bought my first ever Porsche (a 1988 3.2 cabrio guards red) in June last year (after a multitude of other sports cars). This was soon added to with a 996 turbo bought in Nov 13, but my dream was to own a 997. This beautiful gen2 PDK became available to me two weeks ago (the horrors/convenience of working next door to a Porsche specialist) so I snapped it up. Alas there was no more drive space left so unfortunately the 3.2 and turbo had to go. Anyhoo just thought I'd say a hearty hello and hope to get involved in the club and many meets in the near future Regards Rob
