New members welcome and photos

Hi all, I'm back to the PCGB, with another Porsche in the garage to add to my 944S2. Bought a 997.2 C4S Cab in September. First trip - Stuttgart, on a 1300 mile road trip with my son to the Porsche Museum and a Factory Tour. A great way to familiarise myself with my new toy :) Heres a couple of photos in the Eurotunnel train and in a car park. Hi Marcus, Welcome to 997 ownership. The lad looks a little underwhelmed in your car but I see he cheered up a bit on the outside! [:D] Nice car and looks good on those turbo wheels. BTW - I'll ask Alan to upgrade your forum status to "PCGB Member" Regards, Clive.

Haha - i see what you mean Clive. My son, Anthony, was studying the map to find our shortest route to a derstricted Autobahn. He's a huge fan of Porsches (like me) and works at Porsche Silverstone as a service advisor (which is handy), so say Hi to him if you're passing. Regards, Marcus

Here's mine, was at the Gold Cup at Oulton back in August and the OPC event at Wilmslow in November. Hoping to get on a Euro trip next year, missed the Sarthe one planned in May 2015 unfortunately. [link=http://s1022.photobucket.com/user/andyc114/media/My%20Car/imagejpg11_zpsda262bc5.jpg.html]

Congratulations Andy, GTS is one of the best of the best. [:)] Keep an eye on the calendar in the New Year for interesting trips and tours. Regards, Clive.

Thought it was about time I introduced myself. My name is Mike Whiston. I joined the Porsche club at the Silverstone Classic last July. I met some very nice people who gave me lots of advice. On my way home on the Sunday morning I called at the Porsche Nottingham agent to have a look at some secondhand cars. By this time I had set my mind on a 997. The following week I purchased a 997 C2s from an independent garage in Nottingham who took my TVR Tuscan in part exchange. All seem to be going well until last week when a miss fire started. Oil consumption had been 700 miles to a litre which I thought, reading the forums was the norm. However my local independent porche garage has informed me that the bores on 6,5, and 4 cylinders are heavily scored and I am going to need an engine rebuild. What has happened to German engineering. The car came with full service history and 42000 miles on the clock! I am not a happy bunny with a repair bill of £8000.[;)[] I have intended going to the Coopers Arms East mids, but due to other commitments have not made it yet. As soon as I get my car back from rebuild I will make the effort to get there. ( not sure about photo upload)

Mike, I think we met at Scampton, car looked very nice. Sorry to hear about the scoring, not the news anyone wants to hear, you have my commiserations. Hope its up and running again soon and we'll maybe see you at a R4 event in 2015. Rod

Its such a shame that new owners to Porsche always seems to be the ones ending up with the scored bores! and it ruining their introduction to what is a great car. My advice on buying into Porsche for the first time and having the chance that you don't know about these widely publicised issues is to buy from a dealer and enjoy the free coffee and warranty this offers... My unit is close to a 'We buy any car' franchise and its an eye opener on what they take in - quite a few Porsches in fact- and they all go to auction- usually for an obvious reason.[:'(] I'm not sure what the up to date engine cost is, but Hartech and the likes seem to offer the cost effective way to be mobile once again. Certainly not the OPC for those sort of out of warranty repairs. Mike, once its fixed I hope that you can get to enjoy many years of happy motoring in your 997

Sorry folks. New member and owner of a 997.2 C4S cab with pdk and chrono. Tried to post a pic of my pride and joy using the photobucket method but epic fail. Back to the drawing board. Merry Christmas all.

Welcome Dave. I was about to say a colour photo would be nice but then realised it's a black car anyway.......[:D] Looks lovely though and, btw, I've changed your status to "Club member" Merry Christmas!

Hi all, thanks to my Mrs, I'm now a member of pcgb! She signed me up during classics at the Castle last September. I'm lucky enough to have driven a brand new boxster s 987 out of the showroom back in 07. Now tho, I'm the proud owner of a 997.1 turbo in black of course! Any tips?

Hi Steve and welcome. I have changed your status to PCGB member. Any tips? Quite a lot but I think most prefer a manual Gen 1....[:D]. Watch out for our 997 events and try to get along for some fun days out with like minded members! First one of the year here https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.asp?m=861957

Hi, I joined at the Silverstone event, along with my wife Dee, a few months ago and finally got around to start posting (apologies). Pic of my Gen 2 GTS Cabrio, yes with the hard top on! My second Porsche; have had the 911 just over 18 months. Just love it, one of things as you will all know that brings a smile to the face every time you drive it (used every day). Hope to meet some/all of you at some time, but until then, wishing you all a great Porsche 2015 Trying to have the "guest" removed from posts, and should hopefully be updated in the next week or so.

Hi Phil and welcome. Lovely car. See the above post for our first register trip of the year. No need to wait for weeks to get your status changed - speak to forum admin and....there you go! What's your membership number, btw? You can add it to your profile on the forum.

Hi, appreciate the response. The hard top gives us two cars in one! Have added our names for the March event (Mem Num 65314) and if lucky enough to go will look forward to meeting you and the other members on the trip. Phil ---------------------------------- Gen 2 997 CGTS PDK Platinum Silver
