Porsche Spotting

That was me in my red 944 - I saw both your black 944 and the grey 924. I don't usually see that many Porsches in a day, never mind all at the same place. I thought I'd stumbled on a meeting! [;)]

Sue,

I never see front engined Porsche and I drive mine everyday!

Are you from Derby(shire)? If you're interested theres a classic car meet on at the white hart, Moorwood Moor on the 5th of April.

I only saw the 924 very briefly. Your car looks absolutely lovely. :) Is it an oval dash or square dash?

Also don't tell me your last name also begins with a "Z"? From your user name lol

Nicola

I'm Derbyshire/Leicestershire border, and my car is also in use daily - I've had it for 5 years and love it to bits (much to OH's dismay - he wants me to change it). It's an oval-dash model.

I'll bear in mind the meeting on 5 April. We've had various classic cars and used to go to dozens of meetings, but we don't go to so many now.

(Surname doesn't begin with Z, but the dog's name does - it was an easy way for OH to remember his username!)

Would be great to see you at the meet [:)] I'm usually the only 944 in attendance!

Brilliant to see another 944 being used as a daily, locally [:D]

Sue - is yours the red one OH took to Donington end of last year?
IMGP1817.jpg

If so, I'd keep it and spend the money on some professional tlc, looks a great car.

Mike - that one certainly looks like the car I saw [:)] It didn't look like it needed much TLC to me (only saw it passing though) it looked gorgeous!

It was very straight very useable but when I saw it just could have a bit of time spent on it . It may well have had it n
Now - certainly worth it.

Just seen a white 944 joining the A50 at Shadow - as usual in the van heading opposite direction!

Sue's car looks just like my first 944! [:)] I suppose theres always something to do on our cars ... I can think of a big list for mine, some is getting due and needs doing e.g. MOT and service. Some I just WANT to do e.g. wheels and turbo badge panel!

Yep - that's mine!

Since the photograph, the sunroof has been replaced (old one leaking), wheels refurbished and new tyres, new brake pipes fitted, boot and bonnet struts replaced, cambelts replaced, oil/water leak on oil cooler repaired, currently fettling heater as it's decided to blow hot all the time. So, getting there slowly. Keeping the 'pink' door as a distinguishing feature - NOT! The car was at Rutland a few weeks ago with OH.

However, I'm still looking for cream seats front and rear to replace the existing badly worn ones if there are any out there.......? Been looking on Ebay for ages, but can't find anything suitable in a better condition than mine.

Sue

Have you thought about getting your seats retrimmed? Theres a guy in Ilkeston I know who would do an excellent job.

I bought some seats for my car a while back from someone breaking a 944. The interior was the only good bit as far as I can make out! So now managed to get a nice interior rather than the previous Porsche script cloth interior!

Strangely, I went to the guy in Ilkeston last week and he quoted £3k for leather and £2,700 for cloth (this was for front and rear seats). Don't think he was interested in the job actually, because he didn't even come out to look at the car!

Sue

Yes - that's the one. Perhaps he's changed his business direction - he had a couple of VW campervans in the workshop when I went. I shall continue my quest on Ebay!

Sue

944 Cab heading North on the M3 towards M25 at about 10.40pm on Saturday night? Didn't bother waving... not admitting to what I was driving!

3x 944's Tref - and you weren't driving one of them[:)]

Was it another German built car ??

Saw a very nice clean black H plate Lux? I think at about 11.45am this morning, driving through North Petherton.

Did a wave .......... and got one back [:D][:D]

Goes to show how friendly 944 owners are - I was driving the family Scenic at the time[8D][8D]

Yes, I was in North Petherton at 11:45, the cars a turbo, I was returning from Golf - I enjoyed the drive more than the golf which was not too sucessful. I had given it its first polish after the winter whichwas why it was so clean

Hardly ever see another 944 when I am out, spotted one Saturday around lunch time D reg Lux heading towards Mersea out of Colchester waves were exchanged...........I was walking.... and it was you AndyB[:D]
