Reading drive: next run

Assuming today will be the last day of summer this year (safe bet) I took the day off work and ran the morning route again. Lots of nice GLF signs indicating take off!!

I also managed to verify that the Sat Nav now corresponds with the GoogleMaps locations, so anyone wanting to pre-programme a 'tour' in their PCM please ask me to email you my latest PDF guide for the day. I was a bit annoyed that the best road of the morning route just had a quater of it resurfaced with no painted lines and loose stones (ie. 20mph). So sadly we will have to crawl passed this section. The road does get better again further down however. With regards to the weather, it really seems to depend where you look. This app on my iPhone says the rain should be further North on Sunday...

Met Office and BBC tend to air on the side of caution too when predicting rain. Just before this recent sunny spell there was meant to be several weeks worth of solid rain and all we ever saw was brief 20 mins of patchy rain each day. In fact they couldn't even get it correct on the same day, current conditions would say sunny and predicted conditions at the same time were of heavy rain!! So I think it will be a case of wait and see for Sunday. As today was nice and sunny though I just gave the car a nice wash and polish and tucked it in to sleep until Sunday. Probably a waste of time, but you simply never know with British weather! Right; I'd better go mow the lawn!!

Sadly Easy_rider from Rennteam has now had to drop out due to work circumstances. So we are back down to 9 cars and 18 people (all PCGB members). If anyone else feels they may not be able to make the event please let me know ASAP as apparently the restaurant has an active waiting list on Sunday and we are taking up most of the place even with 18. I think if it does rain all day we can still have a great day out. We all drive the best all-weather supercars on the planet so a bit of rain shouldn't dampen our enjoyment too much. It just means we can spend additional time at the picturesque stops and socialize a bit more. Plus rain would mean a slightly slower cruise which typically increases passengers experience of the day. So some silver lining... Either way I am very much looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday [:)] I should be at the OPC from just after 0930 to meet any early arrivals (and also to check out prices on a Boxster S with PDK for the Mrs which I am encouraging her to buy herself next year). Sadly the Panamera demo car that was at the OPC last week has since been shipped back to Germany so no new-tech scoops I am afraid. Lastly please don't forget: - You need at least 1/2 tank fuel before we leave the OPC (there is a Sainsbury petrol station right next to the OPC but it obviously doesn't serve Shell V-Power!) - To wear smart-casual dress-code for lunch (shirts and no jeans for gents) - Any walkie-talkies you may have - Your cameras - Rain-coats and an umbrella just in case!! - To slow down and look right when we go through Pangbourne at all the Bentleys/Astons/Spykers/Koenigseggs/Zondas on show at Broughtons garage [;)] PS: the BBC weather site says it was meant to be raining all today here in Reading and thus far it's been as dry as a bone! Let's hope they are equally as accurate on Sunday [8D]

My weather outlook today is rain... [&:] and I've just finished mowing the lawn [;)] so again well done to the weather man. Good points raised by Alex, and maybe I should start making a dress code for my events [;)] garyw

Bringing something along for spillages would be a good start! :ROFLMAO: Regards, Clive

I just emailed out the final PDF guide for tomorrow. I have printed off 8 copies for when you arrive at the OPC. Looking forward to seeing you all

9am here in Reading and despite it raining most of the night I can now see clear blue sky outside! Let's hope it holds!

A big thankyou to everyone for coming today, really good turn-out [:)] I very much enjoyed the route and all the socializing. I am glad the weather held off right until the end, I think it made a big difference. Food I thought was excellent as was the company [:D] Sorry about the missing walkie-talkie instructions when my handset decided to go into power-save mode. Next time I think I will get myself a hands-free kit so I don't have to flail about the place Here are some photos from our stops: [link=http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff117/Alex911TT/cars/porsche/pcgb/DSC01639.jpg]

Alex A most excellent day out..[:D] The weather held right up to the last few minutes going through Henley and then stopped again. I loved the morning route which offered some great roads with wide open views AND the lunch stop was very nice indeed [8D]...plenty of socialising time aswell. Well done on putting it together and organising the day.. A great display of cars and a great turnout from the Turbo owners amongst us. I'll sort my pictures out later tonight. garyw
