Reading drive: next run
- Thread starter Alex L
- Start date
Went out searching for new routes today and found some fantastic open flowing roads this time just south east of Swindon! So I think I will be doing this new run every sunny weekend until the weather starts giving out. If anyone would like to join me on a weekend spin then please show your interest. If I get enough people then I will ask Porsche Reading to lay on some test drives for us (such as the Panamera and the new Turbo) at the start of the day. Plus Leatherne Bottel for lunch is always an absolute pleasure []
Hey Tom. I think I can gather myself and Simon for a run either this or next Sat. However the weather report for this Sat is heavy rain, so perhaps we should aim for: Sat, 31st Oct Can you confirm if you can make that and I will make bookings with Porsche and the Leatherne Bottel? Anyone else?ORIGINAL: okellyt Alex Always up for a run out ;-)
Alex Sounds good - I had planned on doing something on the saturday either a run out or Castle Coomb, having not booked on the race track yet. I think the pull of the Leathern bottle for lunch and some good company wins it. 10am for 10:30 at Porsche Reading? Maybe we can get an acutaly engineer to talk to us about the Gen 2 TT and see if we can ask all the awkward questions bouncing round the forum[]
PS: Clive's Ferrari run down in Devon has given me an idea [8|] I think I will propose that Porsche Reading bring along demo cars for our morning route that people can take passenger rides in (obviously you would need someone else to drive your car or leave it at the OPC) and then we can all ask the sales guy questions during stops/lunch. That way people thinking of buying a new car can get a fun drive plus learn about the new models.

Hey Alex, Just sent you an email. I'm good for Sat 31st, Louise unfortunately may not make it (just means more food for me!) [] I won't be there though until 10:30 so may miss a test drive in the Panamera. Cheers SimonORIGINAL: Alex L Claus has kindly agreed to play host to the start of our drive next Sat. He has also offered Panamera test drives to anyone that wants one before we head off! []
Last call... Also, weather permitting, I will be popping along to the Pistonheads Sunday Service in Bracknell the next day [link=http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=20800]http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=20800[/link] If any other Porsche Club members are going, please say hi (I think I am the only silver 997 Turbo going).

Alex Looks an interesting day. I hope to join but not certain of times... perhaps arriving 10.30-10.45 at Porsche Reading, but possibly may miss your start time. Alternatively may go to Goring. Cannot state more definitely now due to one variable in the Saturday morning equation! Will update you as potential member of convoy.
Would be nice to have you along Shaun. Simon won't be joining us until at least 10:30 so don't worry about being late. Alternatively, we could meet you en route somewhere as my route takes us through Newbury (I will PM you the route).ORIGINAL: Shaun Leahy Alex Looks an interesting day. Great stuff! I am thinking of changing the driving start time for tomorrow to be a little later to make it easier for everyone to get there. Plus, would give you the opportunity to get a ride in a Panamera that the OPC has promised us. So let's say arrive 1000-1100 (depending if you want a test drive), and then we can leave 1100-1130. I am thinking to catch up we can skip the first 45 mins of mediocre roads (which are good if not busy, but not great otherwise) and just do 15 mins and 1 Jn of the M4 to get straight to some good quiet roads. Plus leaving later we should have better weather: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/se/reading_forecast_weather.html What do you think?
