Hi Stuart,

manual with 17" cup wheels which seem to me to spoil the drive compared to my S2 with 16" D90's - I have a spare set of D90's so will be fitting those to check out handling by comparison?

The 968 is a nicer example than my S2 but so far I prefer the handling & 5 speed box of the S2, if the change of wheel size sorts the handling I'll be happy!

Regards

Tony

Think you'll find the cabrio rides much more comfortably on 16's - and there's a ready market for genuine cup 17's!!

Hello All,
I just bought a 968 in Grand Prix white, cracking car with an unusual Bordeaux Leather interior. 1992 K Coupe. Bought from the Oxfordshire area, and it now lives in Sunny Scotland [:)] . The car was orginally bought and spec'd by a female from Blackpool, hence the funky interior.

I have done nothing to the car as yet, it has been maintained well over the past 3 years.

Recent owner has had all belts and engine seals replaced, refurbed Cup alloys in Balck with diamond polished rim, refurbed calipers and renewed discs and pads. Also fitted adjustable suspension all round and a new exhaust, so aside from a few minor ailments, should see me right through it's ownership with me, crossing fingers.

I have owned a B-Plate 944 for 4 and a half years, and currently still have that as well, but it will need to go soon(ish) for obvious reasons.

Cheers - All

Guy's,

I recently sold my concours winning Boxster S and have been looking for a 996 convertible/Targa/C4 in similar condition....having trouble finding one that ticks all the boxes. Out of curiosity I've started to look at 968's......RPM have a beauty for sale, 1994 Earls Court car, but in mint green! It's definitely a Marmite car, and as I only have a car to use at club events it might be perfect....what's your thoughts on (a) this specific car? (b) 968 v 996 convertibles?

I would appreciate any help!

Thanks
Mike

RPM are asking way too much for it - I bought my 65k mile tip cab in good condition last May - with the change from 12.5k I could buy a decent 944S2! As for the colour - well, that's personal taste. You only have to look at sigs on 968uk to see the pimpmobile specced by Liberarce (as the owner describes his 968 cab!) and others who put funny coloured wheels on their cars!

Regarding boxster/996/968 cabs, I'm biased. I had a 968 coupe for 12 1/2 years, have twice had a 2.7 box for a day but never driven a 996. When it came time to scratch the convertible itch, it was quite a simple choice for me - stick to the 968 I know and love, and get a tip 'cos I'm lazy and like the stick gearchange rather than buttons on the steering wheel.

thanks Chris, useful info. I am leaning towards the best 968 that I can find. What would you expect to pay for a near perfect 968 cab (tip) , having only had Boxster S's I'm a virgin in the world of 968, done loads of research on 996 but I have to say that I do fancy the prospect of a great 968?

Another first time poster here

Polar silver 968 bought from Gmund Cars earlier this year - loving it!

Bought a 968 Cabriolet last Nov. It's currently undergoing some TLC work as it was stood for 3 years and only did 200 miles!

The usual is being done - some by me - some by Redline in Thornaby.

Belts, tyres, ignition, full service, all fluids, brakes, suspension, track rods, bushes, ARB etc etc.

Looking forward to the Spring [8D]

Hi Chris,
Thought I'd update you & other interested members?
Tried the 16" D90's lovely ride & handling, found some 16" cup 1's had them refurbed (£264 nice job done) and new tyres + sold the 17" cup 1's minus the tyres!

Have a front pair of Good year Eagle F1's for 17" rims with 4to 5mm tread size 225/45ZR17 week 42 2007 if anyone is interested for track days? Also 1 GY Eagle F1 size 255/40ZR17 again 4-5mm tread - sadly the other rear tyre side wall split when derimmed as the buyer only wanted the rims? Offers?

Just had the MOT done with steering rack refurb and new cam chain & new variocam chain guides, so with new wheels fitted she's ready for the summer after I've had the wheel alignment checked!

Next mods in the shopping cart are a promax chip and front suspension braces!

Next year's treat is a new ragtop likely from Southbound?

Regards

Tony
