Register roll call

Hello

I have to date steered clear of the GB website (as it is not great) - but thought I would dip my toes into the forum.

I have a much used (and loved 968 Coupe) - I have owned it since 2004.

A couple of pictures are attached -

I have spent quite a bit of time pining after a 996 Turbo or a 997 C4S, but my wife will not let me have two "fun cars" - and I cannot bear to part with the 968.

It is about to have a few odd jobs sorted, seat bolster, a bit of paint on the nose, but is otherwise in top nick !

Hello,

Would love to see a picture of it and 80k is low. Very nice

New member... I have a 1993 968 cab - 1 previous owner 49K miles... lovingly cared for and supercharged by Ninemeister in Warrington...
Tim Gray

Welcome Tim, looks a nice car, interesting wheels, look at least 17" if not 18" - and love the number plate (green jealous eyes!!). The 968 register on here is a bit quiet, but getting better. There's also an active forum for 968 owners at porsche968uk.co.uk (quite a few of us are active on both). There's quite a few 968 owners in the midlands/north area.

Just purchased my first proper card, having left uni and earning a salary as such....Proud new owner of 1992 white porsche 968 -
Welcome, can we see some pics of it. Cheers Rich

Tip coupe - good choice, I had one for 12 1/2 years and loved it - but had to scratch the convertible itch so have had a 968 tip cab for about 4-5 years now!

thanks for the comments above. just a few small things....if you do have any advice or help, that would be much appreciated.

1. I've got no lcd reading on the temp display to the right of the glove box, it is blank at all times....quite annoying.
2. As you can see from the final interior image above, the middle caddy / centre console, to hold tapes has has come apart from its lid, I leave the the lid (which has the leather upholstery of the interior) inside the glove box....I guess I need to purchase a new part(s). Hopefully its a simple enough job.
3. I have an issue with the car stereo...connect with a reading on the display stating I Need to re set the stereo, which I have done with a pin, but keep getting the same message.

1 is possibly the LCD itself, which I beleive can be easily replaced/repaired. Suggest you register on the porsche968uk forum and ask there, I'm sure I've seen threads about it.
2 is just a hinge kit, not expensive and readily available, easy fix (done it myself when I broke the hinge on my car).
No idea about 3!

I'd also suggest you add your name to the microswitch possible bulk buy, as the actuator arm on the manual select microswitch is known to fail and is NLA. I had this failure on my coupe, and know of 2 current and 2 past failures from members on 968uk.

thanks for your reply, I am in the process of registering with porsche968uk - have just made payment to sign up.

regarding 2, where did you purchase the part from? do you have a name for the part?

also, can you clarify what you mean by adding my name? I'm not too familiar with what the actuator arm or NLA is? Sorry if this is something straight forward!

First off, Google E_968_Katalog.pdf and download it from the Porsche website - it's the parts document for the 968 (known as PET).

For 2, the part you need is :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-PORSCHE-968-AND-944-RHD-CENTRE-CONSOLE-REPLACEMENT-HINGE-INSERT-NEW-/151307514089?hash=item233aa170e9:g:494AAOSw2s1Us742 part number 945.552.553.01.01C. Be careful - the LHD version has virtually the same part number but starts 944 instead of 945.

Regarding the manual selector microswitch, see here : https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=919881. You'll find a lot more including photos on the 968uk forum once you're there - it's a much more active 968 forum than on here (despite the best efforts of the current 968 register sec and his assistant!). There's a few of us frequent both forums, some also frequent the TIPEC forum (as can be seen on the Saratoga Sunroof group buy thread on the 944 forum here. the Saratoga is a glass sunroof panel that replaces the metal panel on late 944's and 968's).

NLA - No Longer Available. there are a few parts no longer available from Porsche or aftermarket - for example the flexi hoses either side of the fuel filter on 91-92 model year cars like mine - so I had to replace the fuel lines as well as the filter mount and flexis with MY93-> parts.
