Might be in the area Thursday as well, would be nice to see the car - guess you wont be there that early though?
Tony

Tony,Leaving EMC Birmingham early afternoon going straight to hotel 18 miles from Anglesey track for early start testing Friday, any good??Would be great to meet up,lemonades are on me if you are around[:)]

Car looked good today Mark, Kev and co very busy at the mo and a death in the family means my car will not be in the workshop until next week. Good luck up at Anglesey, you can see the sea from one part of the track, next stop Ireland. [:)]

Switching back to Pagid yellows,i loved the feel of carbon metallics but they just don't haul up like the yellows,so hopefully avoid any trips into the water![:D]

Sadly we had a far better day than expected in Lincoln today, so off to Anglesey tomorrow and should be on the way south tomorrow night so sadly will now miss the blue beasty, Hope it goes well for you - catch up soon!
Cheers,
Tony

I think the pads were 97s? great pedal feel and the discs last longer but the super last minute big stops are better with the Pagids for me..

Lovely pic in Autosport (May 13) on page 111,some racing 944s,911s,928s but a really lovely looking maritime blue one is in 3rd in the pic[8D](just before he probably got munched!)[:D]

Mark

I am glad you are getting on with the Pagid RS29's (yellows) , using them in my racecar with MO30 calipers I never seemed to be able to stay clear of judder for any length of time!

Now I use Performance Friction 97's all round (what you were using?) and I am much happier, nice balance and when I really need them they seem to have that extra level of stopping power that gives confidence. Only downside is that they are a softer pad so wear out quicker and the dust is quite clingy, so find myself cleaning the whole of the wheels more often.

Enjoy Anglesey, do your best in qualifying for obvious reasons!

I have used 3 sets of PFCs. The first ones were a revelation after using EBC Yellows and Greens. The second set were a real disappointment and I couldn't figure out why. I even started to question my memory of the 1st set, as I tried some Pagids inbetween. But I was determined to pursue the PFCs and make sure I wasn't imagining things. I had tried the Pagid Blues and then moved onto the Blacks. The Blues were ok, the Blacks were actually very good, but I was cracking the OEM X drilled rotors too easily and quickly. So I searched around for some slotted rotors. There are almost none available for a 944 turbo with MO30 late offset setup. So I had some made. Full floating slotted rotors and went back to PFC 01 front and 97 rear. Insane bite is all I can describe them as having. In general street driving you can pretty much operate average braking cadence with your big toe. On the track I am actually over slowing. Also getting used to not having ABS too so that's a learning curve. I have heard good things about the Pagid Yellows, but I can't see myself moving off this setup for some time. Still use stock Mo30 solid rotors rear but might upgrade those too, just to save a little weight and increase lifespan of the disks.

Patrick - if only we could use floating discs in PCGB racing, I for one would be first in the queue! Over slowing is not such a bad thing, you can then get maximum power down a bit earlier which has distinct benefits.

Some questions: Are the rotors still handed ie with the directional cooling slots? Also, as you are using the harder PFC 01's on the front do you find the rears grabbing a bit on turn in as they are softer? I assume you have not tried PFC 97's on the front.

NB About your 2nd set of pads that seemed less good, I have read somewhere that dry storage is important for such race pads, maybe your supplier was not storing them as properly as they should have been.

Mark,

Top day at Anglesey. Good to meet you and the EMC group and superb to see so many 944's racing. My picture files are too large to embed in the post. Bored with error messages so I put photo highlights in a separate post 'racing at Anglesey' with links to picassa. Let me know if you want any of the full size picture files.

Cheers,
Simon.

Hi Simon!Great pics on your thread about Anglesey, glad you enjoyed it[:)]
The result for the main future classics race was 4th overall and second in class, did a mini write up on the Anglesey thread if anyone is interested[:)]
A good result in scorching hot weather, the poor tyres and brakes!

I must give thanks to Mark for taking me round the new Silverstone GP circuit in his blue beasty last night [:)] Obviously we weren't racing but your driving is noticably much faster than when you last took me round there in your old GT3 (though I did worry when it looked like you were going to try out braking that Beetle Fun Cup car at the end of Hangar Straight []).

I've been round many tracks in many cars but I have to admit this is the first time that my stomach started to feel queezy after about 10 laps, it must have been the excess G's going round the corners [;)]

I have to say I was a little disappointed with the changes they have made to Silverstone GP circuit [:(] It now excludes Bridge corner and has a shorter Start/ Finish straight where the new pit complex is going to be and it leads straight into a fairly technical series of corners and then a very tight hairpin. I think this will make Start line pileups much more likely than the old start leading straight into Copse.

Patrick will be happy to hear that I got some incar footage from the blue beasty, but Mark has complete editorial control before I stick it on Youtube (muttered something about us criticising his lines :ROFLMAO: )

[:D] really glad you came by!,she went up to EMC today to have her geo sorted,i think she got knocked about a bit at Anglesey,i did mention this to Paz once or twice on the way home..!
The couple of tight bends mess up the flow in my opinion and there are some bends that feel bumpy to me,i reckon the car could go faster if it was stiffened up a bit!
Oulton is in June, although having spoke to Alex (EMC) there are one or two quick drivers attending so it will be tough going and for me its a tough circuit to race on...[&:]

Sorry to keep harping on but i think its in line with the thread.....
Had a race today at Oulton Park(qualied 4th but had rubbish start),it is not my fave track as there are a couple of bends i am not mad keen on,with one thing and another,a few of the fast boys being absent plus a couple of quick cars not lasting in the heat managed to get into the lead (although at the time i was not certain) but i had one of the big boy teams bearing down on me and with a couple of laps to go or so he pushed me into an error on the banked section and i made a clumsy gear change that got me fishtailing[&:]!!!
Managed to recover just about and sort of caught him back up ish after a backmarker held him up a bit, crossed the line 2nd[8D]

So in a nutshell the old 944 turbo got...
2nd place overall- 2 secs behind winner (after a very hairy moment[&:])
1st in class E
fastest lap in class E( 2.00777 mins Oulton international[8D])

Massive thanks to EMC motorsport and also Mr Peter Morris for the help on track and advice today,he is one hell of a book of knowledge on racing.
Lee it was lovely seeing you again today your Maserati is stunning,Also the guy with the lovely black S2 from the forum who was Marshalling today who came by to say hello, and of course Paz,thanks for all your help all day[:)]
I dont think it will be possible to top today this season i dont think its possible[:)]

Hi Mark

Good to catch up briefly today.

I must say you were grinning like a Cheshire cat and i would be too. Excellent drive and well done on the 2nd place
I would be jumping through hoops.....

Car is looking good and seemed to perform brilliantly. The guy in the white 944 that was leading at some point had something hanging off his car at at some point jangling along the tarmac, bet he was crossing his fingers it was nothing terminal.

I had a great day today. Weather was spot on too. Between the qualifying and the race, I drove out for lunch to the Ponderosa cafe above Llangollen before Mark did the race at 5pm, to be met by 18 DeLoreans parked up in the car park, one from Texas and one from the Netherlands. So quite a day. Lots of fun racing, was amazed how many 944's were running, which was nice. Then Mark's 2nd place and lunch surrounded by a plethora of DeLorean's[:D][:D]

I have a few photos, but all off my IPhone, but I will try and get a few up for you Mark

Cheers

Lee
