Looking fantastic Mark! You need a set of split-rim BBS's with gold spokes now! How has the rear bumper been lightened? Will you be able to give us an idea on costs for a complete strip and respray?

Good man. We decided to keep the electric windows, we worked out we could ditch everything else from the door and cut the door wiring right down to just a couple of wires for the window mech. I don't think Kev had tried this before because when Barry explained what we had done kev was fairly surprised to hear that the window switches sit nicely back from the cage, and the weight stripped down is barely anything at all. In fact ISTR Barry said it wasn't even worthwhile weighing the wiring that was left so the only difference is the tiny amount of the motor. Having done it I think its only worthwhile going to manual windows to save that last pound or two. For a start you can't even actually wind the window up and down as the manual winder doesn't clear the cage, so you can only pop the window up a down a little. For you and me Mark we can wind that sucker all the way up and down.

If you can you will save a lot of weight of the front end with a FG front bumper and FG front panel to ditch the headlights. ISTR we measured a total saving off the front end of circa 40 Kg compared to a complete stock front end, and this doesn't include ditching the PAS etc. If you have FG bonnet and wings that saves about 3Kg per wing + about 8Kg from the bonnet for a total of 14Kg. Removing the fog light units and fitting a pair of Ring running lights will save a fair bit more.

Keep the pictures coming, only slightly jealous now that you are a good month ahead of me and we started back in April.

Hi Neil,

I`ll admit I`m surprised that you`ve not been posting piccies of yours on a regular basis. I`d love to see a historic record (as would we all I`d imagine)

Still looking lovely!

I like those door cards a lot, much better than my flat ones.

P.S. I still say opening windows are for girls [;)]

Fixed windows are better and safer (as theyre usually PC). An intake and hose from the rear quarter will provide more than enough fresh air on the hottest of days.

Looks like a very well put together car in a supberb colour..............post the full build please !

The car is going to be road legal and i need the windows to be able to pay tolls etc, the aim is also to have air con working so the car will be comfier on hot days.
Neil the front PU (and rear bumper) is a grp one, i would love some fixed lights(like mr Empsons) one day when budget allows to make the saving over the heavy pop ups, (plus they look really cool)[:D].Was great to see the car today its taking shape now, next time i see it i should be taking it home!

EMC got them for me,the red toggles are genuine 964 rs items(adapted),i was well chuffed with the fit and the way they stil work with electric windows, central locking etc. They are on their website in the parts shop bit.

I really can't wait to see this in the flesh [:)] Roll on Rutland Water (or even earlier)

Good luck with your ARDS test and Snetterton trackday - is there any chance it might be ready by then?

Its Cadwell on Monday....,Suspension going on and wheel spacer kit plus a couple of other final bits,so it looks like i will be going in my Black turbo ( i think its raining on monday[&:])got to be honest bit nervous!
The turbo badge is on now breaks up the blue[:D]
