The answer for RMS problems?

Well that's the one I mean!

The only thing I remember is that the fitting of Slick tyres is not allowed (due to the high cornering forces they can cause). The integrated "semi-dry" sump can't cope...
However that is in the manual, not the Guarantee and Maintenance book.

I'm betting the US has a different warranty. And I'm betting the 4 year (used to be 3 year) one is not with Porsche Cars Germany, but arranged "locally" in the US.
Anyone know?

Guys/gals,

Please take a look at this posting of mine and the thread in the 996 Register.
Please consider joining up to support the cause of the RMS Club.

I have been one of the silent majorities tracking the discussion on this thread with interest.

I have owned a 97 boxster from new and as yet have not experienced RMS failure (touch wood), however am very interested in the principal of 'our' club representing 'our' view as opposed to playing lip service to the manufacturers position.

So count me in on 31st July meeting.

received 524 (my last info) back, so a rather good response.

Fantastic response Nic.

there can be no arguments about statistical numbers with this sort of response.

No offence Helen, i'm glad you've been polling elsewhere too.

Nigel,

absolutely, If you send a written submision to me c/o the Club, I will represent it to the meeting. same goes for any other members.

BUT we need some more members to put thmselves forward before I feel able to request a special meeting with the Board

Nic

In respect of the above I am about to prepare something for submission but before I do is the response from Porsche expected soon? - it may colour what I want to say. Also have you sufficient numbers to attend on the day?

Finally is there a way of being able to drop straight in to the last page of a thread rather than having to scroll from page 1 to 9 as is the case on this one please?

yes click on the title of the thread above the last posters name on the right hand side of the menu page and it will take you to the last post in that thread.

or.

click on the page no 9 unter the title of the thread

Or, click on the little yellow square with an arrow on it's left (to the left of the thread title) and in most cases this will take you to the 1st new post since you last looked at the thread.[:)]

Nigel,

just found out that Geoff Turral has scheduled a meeting with a company technical person for the 30th. Evidently this was the soonest date available.
Now I am not happy with this one month delay and I don't think it adequately reflects the seriousness of the topic for our members.

I am thinking we should draft a letter to Porsche Cars re-iterating what was said at the meeting of 29th June and emphasising the need to address this problem promptly and decisively.

It also looks like the Board Meeting agenda on the 31st is too tight to allow a side meeting as I suggested, so a written submission to the Club would be very welcome. Some letters from members will strengthen my position in terms of the line we take with Porsche Cars.

As I have said before, it is for their own good, since dealing badly with problems will have a worse long term effect than owning up and dealing fairly.

Mark and Helen

Thanks for the help..

Nic

Thanks for the update and to a degree Porsche delaying is understandable - they are between a rock and a hard place but the plus point is they are still on board!

Hopefully at least those members who were going to attend on 31st will submit written material in support - even more letters would be helpful to the cause. Is it OK to attach a word doc to an email or do you need it via snail mail ?

Nigel,

a Word attachment to an email is fine, I will distribute to the rest of the Board

Nic, I have prepared a submission for the board - please feel free to cut out any waffle! [:D]

However, i'd like to send it as an attachment to you.

Would you mind letting me have your e-mail address?

Many thanks

Dawn

P.S Do you need to remove my old boxster from the register now that I no longer own it?

DL

Thanks Helen/John

I've got my handy copy of PP at the office (time to call in the men in white coats??) and have found the details.

Cheers

Dawn

Nic

My submission sent to you today. I forgot to ask for an acknowledgement - can you let me know if it does not reach you please?

Thanks again and have a good meeting - looking forwards to reading the minutes.
