Track Days

I've just booked there, so they've still got rooms. Though it was £45 now rather than £40. Really looking forward to this! Clients know I've got the day off so no last minute meetings. Ian
ORIGINAL: Copperman05 If some want to travel up the day before there are still rooms available at £40 twin/double at the Queens Head in Milton Ernest, a few of us will be gathering here on the 19th. Don't forget signing on time is 0720-0830.

My car must know something. Warmed her up yesterday and the heating is jammed on, a sunvisor clip broke off and a crack has mysteriously appeared in the windscreen, typical.

That's all good. The heater being on will aid cooling for the hot engine whilst on track, plus it'll doubtless be freezing outside, so you'll be pleased on the day. You will not need a sun visor (sun, what's that!) so can take it off and save weight, and you no longer have to worry about getting stone chips on the windscreen whilst on track.

Such an outstandingly positive vibe from Mr E - aside the bit about there not being any sun. Oh and, being a track day, there's no shorts or short sleeves so heater clip failure will result in a personal sauna. [;)]

Good, I think thats about 4-5 of us. I'll probably be there just before dinner. Edd

After the mix up last time I'll probably stay elsewhere as they annoyed me and I'm not about to encourage such an attitude. You guys have a good evening though.

ORIGINAL: aporschefan I can't make it!! So annoyed. Anyone interested in taking my place? I also have 2 sessions booked with their instructors.
I managed to get a friend to take my place. I'll be there as an additional driver but would love a ride as a passenger in case anyone wants to show off their driving skills! :) Hope to see some of JMGs short shift kits in the flesh as this is something I'm considering changing/upgrading to. Even though I won't have my car, I'm still really looking forward to Monday. Will hopefully be a great day for everyone.

Not all bad news then, glad you can still make it, your welcome to a ride in the golden goddess if required. Edd PS did you let Javelin know about the change in attendee?

Would love that! Thanks. :)

Yup, spoke to them this afternoon and emailed them this evening.

For anyone looking forward to testing my JMG race-change - bad luck. It looks highly unlikely that my car will be ready for Monday. So you'll just have to take my word for it that the gear change is spot on. My 944 has developed an annoying habit of suddenly cutting out, and so far it's not been cured. I collected it from JMG early this afternoon, and broke down 2 miles later. They are going to collect it tomorrow morning and try and fix it. But so far no one knows why it does it, let alone how to fix it. Fingers crossed tomorrow. So, the chance of me making it to the track day in the 944 is looking pretty slim. And, double annoyingly, my Maserati Ghibli Cup (descendent of the Open Cup race car) is in the shop also, being prepared for Prescott Hillclimb in three weeks time. So I can't bring that either. At ths rate I'll be coming in my Quattroporte. Whose performance, with amazing balance and 400 bhp, defies it's size and weight. But, it has a particularly vocal Tubi exhaust which might not let it through scrutineering...

Paul - click this link to hear my QP. And play it loud! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doYA1ptwLy0 The more I think about it, the less chance I think there is of being allowed on the track.

I'm sure that I and many others will be happy to do passenger laps for people - can't promise quick ones, but the car at least feels fast as it's a bit noisy... [:D]

or McNulty laughing.... Gave him a ride in the honda at Silverstone - we followed a sideways Mini Cooper historic racer for a couple of laps. he was hilarious the way he set the car up for the bends and just drifted though - quick too. I had the camera going, but when i looked at the footage, all i had was the sky, and loud guffaws from my passenger.. [:D]

Saved, just in the nick of time. Mark at JMG pulled out all the stops today. He collected my car from the side of the road where I dumped it yesterday evening and worked on it until it was fixed. It turned out to be some dodgy wiring under the boot carpet - wiring that powers the fuel pump. Anyway, the good news is that it's all sorted and ready for Bedford. Result. So, for those that want to try the JMG race-shift, the offer is back on. And my noisy QP can rest in peace and not scare the scrutineers. See you all on Monday.
